  1. I can understand only being given one dot as I'm sure a few people would 'abuse' the use of them. I just find it bizarre that you have to restrain from being over positive. A few of the the QoS MAD regulars certainly won't like that

God help me if you got more than one stab at the red button.

I seem tae get hit by half the folk on here even when I write a half decent post. :(

  2. Maybe not keeping the Club afloat in financial terms, but compared to your statement above, in Public Relations terms they are miles ahead.

Perhaps you do not mean to belittle their efforts but it sure comes across as such, and your statement above further embarrasses those who are in charge of the Club in my opinion.

"We couldn't afford to have one made, the Trust stepped in," for me, says it all really.

Absolutely disgraceful comments to make. :(

Edited to say I don't mean you Topfitter.

  3. I certainly wasn't trying to belittle anything at all, just get some perspective in this "the fans are doing everything and keeping the club alive" mantra that appears to be getting accepted as gospel fact. I can't say I'm surprised to find that pointing out that isn't exactly accurate already has me voted to -3 (it will go lower).

What on earth makes you think incidentally that the club didn't have the savvy to produce an Alba scarf? As you say yourself they did so for every other cup occasion. The reason one wasn't looking likely to be done until the Trust stepped in was we couldn't afford to have one made, not because nobody thought of it.

Here is a serious question for you. Do you ever pay to get into home games?

  4. That wasnt really what I meant. My point was that it doesnt really matter if we are only paying £14k if other teams in the division are paying comparable wages. It obviously matters if we're paying £14k and everyone else is paying £40k. I was suggesting we should spend the same as everyone else, just because, I was saying the quality of player we can bring in isnt just dictated by the wages we're offering. The wages everyone else are offering are also a factor

    Eh??

  5. Brighton did look pretty awful last season but to be fair he was playing in a pretty awful Stirling side. Did he not play for Gus at saints? I guess he'll know what he has to offer

No, but I think that is the only sort of player he can afford. As I've said before, Gus McPherson is our Jimmy Nicholl.

With the calibre of player that is being talked about on here, we will most certainly be on par with the Stirling team of last season. :(

  6. Nice article up on the OS

Confirms that we'll continue to train at Glasgow Green, that Gus is speaking to some of last years squad and that Reid is staying :)

My Father says when he was following Queens in the 1960's, Dumfries had a population of over 30,000. Gus says on the Official site that Dumfries has 35,000 inhabitants these days. Seems strange when there wasn't a Lochvale, Georgetown, Heathhall and now some of them are absolutely huge. Many new schemes built all over the housing estates of the toon. Maybe ten hooses to every person born since 1980?

I would imagine it has been divided into voting areas?

  7. I have to say I wasnt Simmons biggest fan when he was with us before. I cant say he did much while playing against us to change my mind either. But, hes played the last few seasons for teams at the right end of the league and if him, and McKenna, are indications of the sort of quality Gus is going to bring in then I think we'll be ok. We wont be challenging near the top, obviously, but we also wont be too caught up with relegation

Absolute garbage, these are two players that will ensure we are scrapping it out at the bottom of the league. :(

  8. Mark was my old coach at lochar thistle and was one of the best coaches ive ever had, a true football man who knows the game well as well as the buisness side. i can only see this as a positive (but strange) move and i wish him all the best. i used to be fairly close to the family and mark truely has worked his way to the top unlike some of the twats on the BOD who were born with a silverspoon!

How many coaches and what teams did you play with?

  9. I would be surprised if the new director has been brought in simply to put money into the club. It would be great if he was able to, but my guess would be that hes come in more to help with the running of the club

Let's face it, yer hame team is yer ain team. :D

You cannae change clubs, FFS I tried to change to Annan and only lasted about 3 hours. :(

This man is either bringing money and business acumen (hopefully both though) and if that is the case, good on him.

I am open minded and happy that there is a wind of change inside Palmerston at the moment.

  10. Yes, I read on QOSMad that he was apparently an Ibrox season ticket holder.

Now if he was connected to the playing side, this wouldn't matter - Dobbie was a Rangers fan for Christ's sake, but at least he was Glaswegian.

Obviously, this new director's expertise and clout matter more than any allegiance, but for me, the fact that his real love is one of the OF doesn't sit easily in the boardroom.

Again, the 'Queens to the Core' members haven't exactly performed flawlessly up to now, but this guy's fondness for such an institution as Rangers does nothing to endear him.

Edit to add that I've just read that this guy's actually Glaswegian too.

    Still though...

If he's nae money, he's nae use.

  11. To coin a phrase - I'm as happy as Larry. :D

I was too, until I saw it was only for one year.

It looks like he is only taking this job until he finds something better. Mind you, times are hard, maybe he will get decent players looking for a 9 month full-time contract, but I think the better players will hold out for something better knowing he is no here long term.

  12. Any news on whether hutts and mcguffie have been offered deals? im assuming harris is away havnt heard where to though, and i thought quinn was going to county? Anyway mcpherson would be a brilliant appointment, which could ensure we have a decent season of midtable medicority, or at least avoid the relegation spot!

Aye you'd think so, but the Cowden fans said the same when Jimmy Nichol got the job at Central Park. ;)

  13. Who would you like to see get the job? I would struggle to think of a better realistic candidate.

To be honest with you I agree with you, I think they are the best option. It would be a risk taking on someone without experience at this level. I was sort of hoping the John Hartson rumour was true, an inspirational signing would have put bums on seats. Let's hope that Gus McPherson can raise the profile of the club and make the fans more enthusiastic to turn up every other week.
