Anyone who knows anything about football in the west of Scotland knows that no team should be playing at the same time as Rangers in a Euro final.
The minute the semifinal result was clear and the Europa final date was confirmed all other games in Scotland should’ve been rescheduled.Unfortunately that won’t happen back in 1972 the night rangers won the cup winners cup Scotland played Wales at hampden so the European final wasn’t even live on tv.

I wasnt alive for about 64 years of that total so its fair to say ive no real emotional attachment to it, some parts of the last 17 were good, others not so good. Like i said if folks think going back is the best for their club then they absolutely should do whats best for them. I just think getting all misty eyed about Robertson mucking the fixtures about or the other quirks aren’t appealing for me as a punter. Its got a historical relevance as does any chapter in history, but for me its time to move on, dont particularly feel thats a contentious position to take on it?
Move on ? Unfortunately to many of our fans think we were to good for the juniors despite the fact that since we returned to them we never won the league the junior cup the west of Scotland cup or the evening times trophy and to be honest I think it will be years before we win anything else.

The people whinging about ‘the good ole days’ are probably the same people who go on about blitz spirit and rationing being positive things. No one, absolutely no one is stopping anyone starting the juniors back up and doing their thing again. Genuinely from my own perspective if clubs and supporters miss it, more power to them to start it back again, it clearly means a lot to folks who go on about it and its not a slight on them, if what you had was preferable theres no shame in saying ‘we tried it and it wasnt for us’, absolutely no one would have any hard feelings.
So you don’t care about the 81 years our club spent in the juniors?

The rule is you must have 7 players to start a game but there is no minimum amount to say it has to be abandoned it's the referees discretion to decide if it becomes a no contest.
The rules clearly state that if one side has less than seven players the game must be abandoned

So you agree on three then.
Actually no having re read the post item two also has absolutely nothing to do with Clydebank juniors I assume whoever posted this nonsense is someone from Largs thistle because they printed a lot of the same garbage in today’s programme.

They both still existed as Clydebank FC, no mater how it's spun.
The current Clydebank played back then as Clydebank juniors and played in the Glasgow junior league and the Scottish intermediate league.the other team were a professional club that played in the Scottish football league.two entirely different clubs historical fact nothing to do with spin.

Entity 1 - Formed 1888 folded by 1895
Entity 2 - Formed 1899 after Duntocher FC moved to Clydebank and changed their name accordingly before being disbanded around 1902.
Entity 3 - Formed 1914 and defunct by 1931.
Entity 4 - 1964, the Steadmans merged East Stirlingshire FC with Clydebank juniors to form Clydebank FC before selling the stadium without a ground to play at, tinpot stuff, and playing home games at both Dumbarton and Greenock until they became Airdrie after being bought out around 1996.
Entity 5 - The current incarnation.
You've had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus ya clown shoe.
Entity one and three nothing to do with The current Clydebank fc that started as duntocher fc in 1899.

Once saw the strikers playing Philadelphia fury who had former Celtic player Andy lynch in their side. Teofilo cubillas who helped Peru beat Scotland at the 78 World Cup was playing for Fort lauderdale.

Both ourselves and Yoker were drawn at home in the SSCC and Yoker agreed to play on the Fri - so not so strange.
The u20 fixture has been on the fixture list since the start of the season don’t see why it should be moved this late it’s as if the u20s and the people who turn for our home games are off no importance.

Pretty sure Ajax v Rangers was 72 (or very early 73) and was unofficial.
Ajax were in the following year too, first UEFA sanctioned 73-74 (vs either Milan or a German team)
In 74 Ajax beat ac Milan 0-1 6-0 they used the same trophy that Ajax had won the previous year against rangers.

Although ot rules are not perfect it’s certainly a lot better than it used to be when the side with the ball first could win by scoring a field goal.

Worth noting that there was no national Bundesliga in those days (indeed not until 1963) and Rot Weiss Essen were champions of Oberliga West. They did ultimately win the West German Championship but not until the end of June. Format was that top 2 from the North, South, Southwest and West entered, alongside the Berlin champion (only). Runners-up of those 4 leagues held elimination SFs with the losers contesting an elimination final. This brought 9 down to 8 who held 2 groups of 4 home-n-away - with the respective group winners contesting the overall championship final in Hannover:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954–55_Oberliga#German_championship
Saarbrucken were themselves playing in West German Oberliga Southwest by then... after a spell in French Ligue 2, then organising their own international challenge series to avoid playing in the weak Saarland league... and it appears themselves only missed-out on qualifying for the West German Championship competition on 'Goal Average'.
EDIT: Similarly there was no national Eredivisie either. They actually started 1954-55 with 2 entirely rival leagues which got abandoned in November at the start of a unified set-up albeit comprising 4 parallel divisions. PSV Eindhoven won Eerste Klasse C, but ultimately failed to lift the Netherlands Championship contested home-n-away by the 4 champions: this didn't finish until deep into July, so also must have been long after invite sent. It wasn't until 1956 that a proper Dutch top tier began.Although willem 11 Tilburg won the Dutch championship Holland sport were selected to play in the European cup and were to play rapid Vienna not sure why it was changed to Psv Eindhoven

Admira were touring Scotland that spring.
I've a listing showing them due at Aberdeen on Saturday 10th but was cancelled as reached Scottish Cup SFs.
EDIT: Maybe explains it:
Listed in Aberdeen a complete record as the first team but if they played east fife the day before then the reserves playing would make more sense.

They toured Norway as noted in 1951. I see had 1 game in Dublin in 1955.
Having now checked I don't see others in book, history pages* or AFCH site until tour Canada (1956) and host likes of Bahia+Bangu (1960).

That one is on AFC Heritage for 1950/51. I was checking for pre season rather than post season tours. That's the only tour, there are matches against English and Irish teams right enough
Lost 2-1 at home to admira Vienna on 15-4-54. And beat home farm 4-3 on 6-5-55 not a huge amount of games but still home games against foreign opponents.
