Good afternoon brothers and sisters.
I am currently writing my my dissertation on Scottish football journalism and need help with my survey!
It would be hugely appreciated if you, the wonderful people of Pie and Bovril, could take a couple of minutes out of your day to respond in return for the 10,000+ top-notch posts I have provided you with across my my six years of service.

Fair enough, bodes well for the Hill mind. 6 months between my games and felt like there was significantly more people there. How do these crowds compare at this level? I think there's definite potential for the club to grow, especially considering where it is in proximity to universities and being so close to the city centre. A potential tie-up with Partick Thistle to get their kids in on loan every now and then worth trying?
Previous two home games had around 130 and 160, although the latter was against Ardrossan, who brought a few more supporters than most teams in this league.
Would say that Hill still have higher home crowds than most in this league, despite being in the bottom half of the league.

Was back at Lochburn yesterday for another game with the Fife not playing. Even first half and the Hill only really conceding by putting themselves under pressure. Second half Carluke ran riot though, number 7 on the right hand side had an absolute stormer and their number 6 in the middle of the park was absolutely everywhere.
As an aside, my mates and I were motivated along to go see Maryhill partly as we're in Glasgow so can't see our own teams as much as we'd like, but also chose the Hill after their recent financial worries and issues last year/before. That's my second game this season, and maybe Carluke have a bigger travelling support, but the whole place looked a lot busier with a lot more going on, the pub was busier, and I notice on twitter there is some discussion about trying to get into the pyramid. Looks like the club's beginning to turn a real corner.
Carluke have a very small support at home games, and even fewer at away games!
They were by far the better team , and fully deserved to win, although Maryhill were without their two main strikers.
Estimated attendance was around 110. Full match report at Maryhill FC Facebook page.

Better chance of it now but it will still be up to the clubs to lobby for change (if enough want it)
Why not go for a compromise and have 2.30pm kick offs, and then everybody would be happy(?)

I notice that after Sunday playing at Tannadice , Hibs have now two players out with long term knee injuries. If it had happened on 4G I can guess the media’s reporting. The reality though is that it happened on grass so that doesn’t fit into the media’s agenda. I watched the game and the surface looked shocking but no mention of that regarding the players injuries.
Excellent post, and sums up the situation perfectly in my view. Whenever there is an injury on an artificial surface, we never hear the end of it, but injuries on grass pitches get no such comments.

Getting to the nitty gritty bit of the season. On what teams have you have watched this season who would you say are the 3 that will be promoted?
Shettleston, Ardrossan and Lesmahagow would be my predictions for promotion. On form,Lanark are a match for anyone, but seem too inconsistent.

A pretty good start yesterday, winning 7-4 against Bellshill. A truly amazing game. Full match report on Maryhill facebook page.

Exactly. Thanks.
Wasn't at the game today, but will accept general view that he didn't play well. Any time I have seen him he has been impressive (for first team and reserves), and he has played several times at international level, so can't be that bad! As has been stated, he is 17. He will have bad games - it happens!

What the hell did the Hamilton guy do to get a straight red? The highlights look completely innocuous, but he didn’t argue at all, and indeed he looked like he expected it.
Guessing that it must have been something he said - abusive language?

Once again a player gets injured playing on grass and no mention is made about the surface. Ryan Kent pulled his hamstring on the Ibrox turf and no one blames the pitch. Had it happened on an artificial surface you can be sure the media and slippy would have alluded to the surface and put the blame on it. All to often now players are getting injured playing on these spongy grass pitches and the media fail to condemn the surface. The time surely must come when folk realise that 4G pitches are the safest.
I think that this sums up the situation pretty well. They even play rugby on them now! Won't be able to prove this as I won't be here (!), but I reckon that in about 30 years max, most if not all football matches will be played on artificial surfaces, and folk will look back in disbelief that grass pitches were ever used, and that games could be cancelled because of rain.

Spot on. Not streetwise enough should have seen the game out at 4-1 still cant believe what happened last night.
Watched this game as a neutral, and doubt if I will see a better game all season. Credit to both teams for a fantastic performance, although being 4-3 up on 90 minutes and losing must be hard to take for Glens fans.

Ah but, would you have put the fear of death in the keeper and his defensive colleagues as Shug did to lead to the aforementioned gaffe?
Yes, probably. The way the Maryhill defence has been playing recently, it's not too difficult!
Seriously etc, I have seen Lanark a few times recently, and have been impressed. I have followed the fortunes of Maryhill for many years, but now live four miles from Lanark, so they are my local team!

You forgot to add "pitch will be shite and moaned about".
Or more likely, pitch will not be shite, but still be moaned about ( only if Hamilton win).

If he hadn't scored the keeper would have been shown a red for hand ball outside the area.
Ah, good point. I hadn't thought of that, although I have seen keepers only get a yellow for a similar offence. Of course, if you think of it as denying a goal scoring opportunity, which it would have been, then def a red!
But, let's face it, missing it was never really on. I am 68, and have a bad back, but pretty confident I would have scored in that situation.

Comfortable win for Lanark today. Shug Kerr scored 4 first half goals. Dropped off a bit second half. Maryhill captain scored a screamer before we scored a twice taken penalty to finish it off at 1-5.
Maryhill defence/keeper had some howlers today.
Well done to Lanark, but Kerr will rarely get such gift wrapped opportunities. The third, in particular, should get an award for high comedy content!

Home friendly on Mon 8th July against Stirling Albion
£10 adults, £5 concessions.
Haud me backWebsite actually says £5 for CHILDREN and £10 for adults. This suggests that over 65s charge is £10 which would make it more expensive than the Betfred Cup games which are usually £12 and £6 for concessions! Surely some mistake?

My big concern is looking back at start of last season the majority of Accies fans thought we had made some great signings, we had plenty of them. Turned out the majority were pish and got bumped back.
OFW in goals eeehhh No, just NO
We need an experienced centre back someone similar to Kilgannon to help the younger lads through
I don't know anything about the new keeper, Williams, apart from recalling him playing for ICT, so can someone enlighten me as to where all this negativity about him is coming from?

A lot of people in the media, and a large percentage of fans too sadly, would love nothing more than a closed shop league where the 'biggest' twelve teams play each other until the end of time with no relegation out or promotion in.
The more teams that upset that viewpoint the better IMO.
Mon the diddies.
Aye, maybe they would like the league positions to be determined on a count of supporters. Then, we could eliminate all this time consuming nonsense of actually playing games. I mean, we all have other things we could be doing on a Saturday afternoon!

That will be because Livi beat them in the Semi Final last year and Accies beat them two years ago
Irrespective of how great a teams fans are perceived to be, if the players don’t perform in big games the club deserves to be playing in the ChampionshipWell said! Tired of hearing this nonsense about teams which 'deserve' to be in the top league. It is how many points you have, not how many supporters or how much money you have that determine a team's league position.

Where did these figures come from? A similar list I saw last year (unfortunately , I don't know the source !) had very different figures in some instances, e.g Hamilton on higher average salaries than Livingston, St Mirren and Motherwell.
