  1. Embarrassing doesn't come close to describing that today. Tactics had to be seen to be believed. How could you set up with two wide men totally isolated from the game and 2 men in the middle of the park trampled all over the top off. There was enough room in the middle of the park for Raith to drive 2 double decker buses through. It wouldn't have taken a footballing genius to see after 10 minutes that we had to get more men in the middle area to stop their supply going forward. Two full backs were horrendous and Kieran Miller had a shocker ad well. I said after the Alloa game we didn't do enough when we didn't have the ball but that was even worse today. No pressure on ball and no tackles. That pitch is terrible as well very sticky. No fight no heart no desire everything you want from your team in a derby. Add in the lack of ability to defend a cross ball and how easy it was to get the crosses in then you can see how it was 5 going on 10. Going to be a long hard season watching some of these players going through the motions .

  2. For me the jury is still out on Barry Smith when he came to Bayview Gary Naysmith had done all the spade work and assembled a decent squad. Naysmith had also created a tight dressing room and all the players worked for each other. When he first took over I never seen any significant difference with tactics . We had just went on the start of a decent run and he guided us to a run of 12 or 13 games without defeat. then you could point to injuries but between the months of March and May he was responsible for some of the worst football seen at Bayview in a long time. To be honest I'm not too bothered to see him go. He seems like a decent guy but that doesn't make a good manager. Faith seem to have history on making poor managerial appointments and I have a feeling this could be another mistake from a board who seem clueless on the football front.

East Fife fans truly feel victimised. Livi fans have constantly praised them this season but they still moan about us constantly. The table must be hard for them to look at with us so far away at the top.

The table doesn't lie you are top of the league for a reason Livingston have been the most consistent team in league one so far. Every other team has had a bad run at some time but Livingston have usually bounced back after a loss. I can't see them chucking the league away as they have got  by far the biggest squad and options all over the park. Wish you all the best for the rest of the. Season.

  4. Think your clutching at straws going on about away form and blaming your pitch. Your 2 performances at New Bayview were brutal and I can assure you if you can find a better playing surface in Scottish football I'd be surprised. What you'll find at this level of football is if you think you are billy big time and just have to turn up to win you'll be in for a few shocks. You have to win your battles on the pitch first before you can go on and win games.

  5. Certainly leaves us well short of numbers in defence if anyone gets injured or suspended it will be round pegs in square holes.Dissapointed to lose Mercer hope it's not going to be like when davie Clarke left to join Falkirk and took all our best players with him and we were relegated the next season.

  6. Kyle Wilkie picked up what looked like a bad leg injury, with the discomfort and pain he left the field looks like could be out for a while. Kyle signed a 2 year deal at start of season turning down rumoured full time deals. You guys enjoying Gary's style of football  . Your goals for column seems to have dried up is this due to negative defensive tactics. We have never looked back since you kindly took Gary away to the promised land, with 5 victories and only conceding one goal in the process. It's very evident when our new manager came in he couldn't believe how deep our back line was sitting. He certainly left us with a decent squad but it seems to have taken someone else to get the best out of these same players.

  7. Barry been the main man 206 times in the dugout with Dundee, Alloa and Aldershot. His record is won 69, drawn 46 and lost 91. He holds the record of 23 games unbeaten with Dundee. He has also had poor runs with both Dundee and Alloa which led him to resign at Alloa and the Dundee board to terminate his contract after backing him. Has also had good experiences coaching youth football. A good solid professional career playing with Celtic, Dundee and Valur in Iceland. So all in all has a wealth of footballing experience, probably what is required at Bayview just now to try and lead us to league one safety.

Think John Rankin would be good as a player/Assistant, but given our present predicament, I think we need someone with management experience. Having fought our way out of League 2, the last thing we need is to go back down again. Gary would be the first to admit that he made mistakes early in his tenure at Bayview due to his lack of experience and we can't afford the new manager making similar mistakes.

I'm happy for the Board to take time to make the right appointment but at the same time we need some stability quickly as we don't want to be cut adrift in the play off spot. We have to start picking up points quickly hopefully starting at Brechin but the following two games against Peterhead and Stenhousemuir could go a long way to defining our season.

With loan spells of O'Hara, Hurst & Kerr up at the end of the month, plus losing Gary as a player, leaves us extremely short in terms of numbers. The sooner a new manager gets started will give him 3 or 4 games to assess the squad and to try to bolster the squad with new signings in January. Whoever comes in, hopefully has contacts at other clubs that he can use wisely to get us away from the bottom of the league.

Gary admitting even up to last Tuesday that he was still making mistakes, he said he got it wrong with his tactics against Edinburgh city. Obviously if a good experienced manager shows interest it's a no brainier to offer him the job. I agree who ever it is will have a lot to do over the next month. John Rankin a good model pro who keeps himself in great physical condition and is a good leader. I know that any untried manager is a gamble and the safer option is to go with expierence, but a lot of clubs at our level bring in first time managers.

  9. Glad to see the board going about this the right way by asking for cvs from interested parties. All to often in the past we have promoted within and not looked at other options. Should be a decent bit of interest from either people with management expierience,or x players looking to take up their first management post. East Fife over the years have had our share of player managers , and I was thinking outside the box and wondering if John Rankin now at Falkirk has any ambition to get into management. He has a wealth of footballing expierience and comes across well on radio Scotland when I have heard him. would also be a good playing appointment.

good luck to Gary and Dougie genuine guys I wish them well. Goodness have the cuckoos been let out the asylum Dick Campbell I'm away to lie down

Funny thing was seen dick at Bayview on Tuesday could put 2 and 2 together and get 5 but I think Arbroath playing Edinburgh tomorrow, so hopefully just a scouting mission.

  11. iWish Gary all the best, he is one of only two managers to bring silverware to Bayview in the last God knows how many years.Vfery true to say we are only now in the same position as when he took over. The football on show this season has been all too predictable and honestly becoming a bit of a chore to watch.going by the crowd on Tuesday it doesn't look like I'm the only fan who thinks that. If I was given the board any advice I would ask that they pick a new manager who sees the game being played with a bit of attacking adventure . No name really springs to mind so the board should ask for cvs from interested parties and take their time to get the right man.As has been said whoever it may be has a a few big hurdles to get over early in the job as we urgently need players. Also the matter of no wins since September ,let's hope we get the new manager bounce.

  12. A few players who did so well last season, have just not hit the same heights. The two obvious ones who spring to mind are Kyle Wilkie and Jason Kerr. I think losing Stevie Campbell was also a big loss as he had good experience and was a good leader. I look at the current team and don't see many leaders no one seems to drive the team on. Look at the 2nd goal Alloa scored and the first goal Queens Park scored almost carbon copies of brutal defending, how are the players not learning from those errors,is it bad coaching or just a lack of ability. You can blame a lack of squad numbers but I believe the cause of our failings this season has been our tactics isolating one man up front with no support. We have set up more often than not to contain the opposition, and what ultimately happens is we concede the first goal and you can't for the life of you see how we can get back in the game. Then the last 15 minutes we fling on two or three forwards and huff and puff but just can't break down well drilled defences. We looked so much better against Alloa last week trying to close them down further up the. Park and getting on the front foot. I won't knock the players and managements efforts but some of the players need to take a bit more responsibility and show some leadership qualities. Confidence comes in winning games of football lets hope we can turn the corner in our next 2 games in the cup and Stennie away, these should be 2 games if we play to our potential and cut out the basic errors we can win and get some much needed confidence.

  13. Looking really solid at the back, and with Stevie Campbell and the young lad from st johnstone to come back we are well covered at the back. Midfield a hard working unit with5 or 6 options here. Still think we are one striker away from a complete squad. When injuries and suspension kicks in with only 3 strikers leaves us short. That was very evident today with Kev Smith suspended. Hope the board can push the boat out so Gary can get one more striker in. Maybe Gary has a loan signing lined up.

  14. Lewis Vaughan tore your defence a new one every time he got the ball. The other 13 players weren't upto standard though, and over the course of the game, you guys deserved your win. Still, the record stands.

Mark Stewart and Craig Wighton still have to come back in and will strengthen the attack, but we still need the fourth striker as Megginson is not a striker. He's a winger.

Ill give you he tried harder than the rest of your team but I cant re call him creating very much. I thought East Fife very comfortable all game at the back

  15. Squad shaping up half decent now I think Gary has learned from last years mistakes with poor signings like Cook and mcaleer who never justified their wage. With a smaller budget he has to be certain the guys he signs can do a job. Signed so far are Goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow, Defenders Stevie Campbell, johnathon Page, Gary Naysmith, Graeme Mcregor. Midfield Alan Walker, Ross Brown, Pat Slattery, Kyle Wilkie, Fraser Mullen. Strikers kevin Smith, Nathan Austin, and John Mcshane. That gives us 13 so far need cover in central defence and full backs I am sure we will see a few players coming in on loan.
