Bowyer had a 12 month rolling contract and Dundee FC got what they set out for when they appointed him. After talks on the following 12 months a resolution betweem both sides wasn't found.

The large amount of people who booed Dundee off the park last week against Cove and at Arbroath  obviously weren't happy with the football on show. These were probably the same people going tonto after drawing 0 0 at Partick in March and apoplectic after defeat at Cove. One of his first signings in Grayson wasn't given a chance despite being OKAY and fans cheered when he went off injured to be replaced by Byrne.

We were one bad result in the final game of the season from the whole of the fanbase calling for his head.

If the fans wanted Bowyer to stay they couldve done alot more to show support. That's the same old Dundee fans for you though.

Now it's straight onto the back of Nelms and Strachan for getting rid of the man they booed and complained about for half the season. Its alot of bollocks.

Bowyer won't be the difference between us progressing as a club, but indeed the manager that comes in along with the squad built should certainly see us in a better place than under McPake. Remember  Liam Fontaine, Ibsen Rossi, Cillian Sheridan, Ian Lawlor and an unfit Leigh Griffiths coming straight in for a free scoring Jason Cummings. That really was embarassment under McPake.

    Thank you.

    Correct!

  2. Not been on here much lately but last night really shows up the level we’re at. I really don’t think Bowyer knows his best starting 11 or if he believes there is a best starting 11 in the squad, he’s chopped and changed all season and never found any consistency! Jury is definitely out on him, his January signings are no better than we had and in this league Byrne and McMullen start for me, also hate seeing wingers not playing on their natural sides, keep it simple ffs!
Bottom line is, this league is exciting but the standard is poor, we’re not much better than any other team in it and whoever goes up will struggle big time! End of season re-builds are never a success and your season could be over long before it begins, but as per DFC seem to be a shambles behind the scenes with 3 signed players, that doesn’t help the team and I’m sure some of them will already have deals lined up for themselves and not too worried if we win the league or not 🤷🏼‍♂️ Nelms is a problem but without his mates money we’re screwed! But hey, this is DFC, we don’t do conventional

  3. Robinson ahead of Rudden for me, holds the ball up miles better, superior first touch and all round better player. Ashcroft made a difference, Cameron and Williamson played well too and French looked better at right back than centre. Falkirk looked decent, especially their front three. Wasn’t much in it first half but thought overall we deserved the win

To be fair Robinson looks half decent and French and Grayson aren’t the worst we’ve ever signed either.
WRT style. Against Arbroath, Grayson was playing in front of the back 4 and was always available, it worked. Tonight (and against Morton) him and Gowser were swapping that role but when Gowser came deep Grayson went into hiding.

Not sold on French tbh. Robinson looks decent enough but Williamson is no better than anything we’ve already got. Grayson did look decent in his first game but getting the impression he could turn out to be one of those players that flatter to deceive. A couple of big physical players needed, we looked quite weak tonight against Ayr

  5. Poor in defence and lack of creativity from open play was a worry. Midfield was awful and looked off the pace and inexperienced. Showed spirit but it was basic stuff from set pieces and poor decisions made life a lot harder than it needed to be. Goalkeeper position needs resolved, full backs needed too and have been  for a while. New signing looked like he could be a handful and Rudden would be as well cutting off his left foot! Apart from that, Thistle deserved the win, better team for the first hour and looked pretty well organised and comfortable

  6. Probably been posted on here before but what exactly is the relationship between John Nelms and the owner Tim Keyes?
It astounds me that Nelms pretty much is the board and makes all the big decisions with little or no football experience, and in any other walk of life he’d have had his jotters long ago as he makes poor decision after poor decision with no repercussions

  7. Doubt there’ll be any change, Nelms has rarely made a good decision in his time running the club, he’s turning into a hindrance and actually stifling progress with constant poor appointments. Club needs an experienced manager to build a team, been too many  marquee signings of names and connections who lack legs and athleticism for this level and an out of depth manager trying to shoehorn them into the starting 11.  We have a pretty weak squad, probably championship level, with zero game plan or plan b when the inevitable happens. Not looking good

  8. A team without structure and too many without the legs or work rate to compete at this level. The McMullen substitution was absolutely bizarre, remove the only pace and willing runner both forward and back from the team at 3-0 probably sums up McPake as a manager! In all honesty I feel for him a bit as he’s clearly out his depth, should be absolutely nowhere near the job and is the result of another poor decision by John Nelms, one of many he’s made!
