  1. Hilarious Night off from grooming teenagers on social media Queenie? Tell your Jamesy Lawd pal it was approaching mildy humourous at first, but sell by date long past Now, f**k off
  2. Possibly Freddy, but I'm basing that on the fact that before his arrival we were shipping goals left, right and centre. It tightened up, but has gone backwards again. It could be the other way around. But the defence needs attended to, that much is clear. I also felt we needed an additional threat up front at the start of the season, and still do. It's League 2, get the basics right in the key areas and anyone's in with a chance.
  3. I don't know what we can do in January window, loans or whatever, but if we have McNeil at RB and Perry in the middle, add another CH and a LB and the defence stops leaking the goals. Find another dangerous striker to play up with Peaso That with the existing midfield could be enough to tip the balance at this level.
  4. Yeah I know that CFC I remember Vogts getting interviewed after a Scotland defeat and he said "Well, what else can I do?". He should have gone there & then. BF didn't say that but the nature of the interview suggests his mindset's in that territory. What I've said is based on the assumption he'll still be in place, so if those are the cards dealt they need to do something, and now.
  5. I've just listened to that, not sure about a laugh CFC, it was worrying. The guy sounded shellshocked and despite what he was suggesting I'm not sure is convinced himself what to do next Assuming he's still going to be there, players and management have to come together as a group at the next training session and talk it through. The captain can put over any issues the players have, positional, tactical, whatever it is, management likewise, but when they leave that room they need to be in total agreement how they move forward If they don't, this run of results will continue and they'll drop like a stone. But as with last season, if they start to turn it around of course they can still make a promotional playoff place. Either way, given how that interview sounded it needs sorted out right now.
  6. I doubt the Club are anywhere near thinking about changing manager, so for that to happen would take a resignation The likelihood of that depends how he sees his future career - presumably it's in football management. He knows that if he resigns it's unlikely he'll get a call for a similar role anytime soon, but a coaching role at someone like Rangers isn't impossible He could decide to stick it out and try and prove himself by turning it around - aware he's had 2-3 years so far He could walk, pick up a coaching role, learn his trade and get back into management better equipped at a later date - he's still a young man Or he could go, but in an attempt to pick up a new manager's role quickly, use his public position to describe the Clyde manager's job as impossible due to x, y & z I was wrong predicting a Clyde win today. Hopefully the opening sentence above is also Finally, no Clyde fan is happy at losing the game today for any reason whatsoever. Assume yourself schooled if you tried to suggest otherwise
  7. Willie Callaghan and Tom McEntaggart seen stretchin their hamstrings in the Horseshoe tonight Hear you on the £s for cup tie. TBH, for this level if he can find another commandin CH to play with Perry and a goalscorer alongside Peaso, that could be enough to get through and make playoffs
  8. Probably one of the most desperate posts I've read on here for a long time It's either you can't understand a basic principle of cause & effect outlined by many posters, that watching years of this standard of football has resulted in the downturn of attendances and the only way to reverse that is to re-build the club - but there is currently no plan presented to do so Or You understand the principle very well, it doesn't suit you, so have reverted to averting any responsibility from those who actually ran / run the Club, instead laying it all at the door of those no longer attending while suggesting posts by myself on P&B somehow having a devastating effect on the Club. And it's someone like me who has an agenda?? I'll let others judge I've never suggested people should stay away from the games, I'm describing the current state of affairs and quoting their own reasons for doing so. If you're going to quote me, at least try and do so accurately, there's a good lad...
  9. TBH, it's more a hunch than anything really specific. In the main they're better quality players than Duffy had when he got into the playoffs, another reason it should be a bare minimum. There again, getting into the playoffs isn't the same as getting promotion, which again should be a bare minimum BF, agreed, yet to see anything that suggests he'll have a career in management. Not really so much optimism, more on the balance of likelihood, yeah, just about come down on that side. Situation's straightforward CFC, the Club will be well aware of all the issues. They read what's on here, on the OS and they also have the info from their fact finding exercise last Spring. When they're putting their plans together they've a simple choice. They can chose to take all of it on board knowing they need to engage as many of the existing support as possible, lapsed or still attending, for it to have a chance of success. It'll need to be something to generate enthusiasm on the widest possible level which can have a benefit in the shorter term, something to buy into to counter what's currently on offer. IMO it'll need to be something different to anything proposed previously. Or they can decide that what's been said is doom mongering, unsubstantiated, agenda-laden, whatever term you care to use, ignore it all, and round and round and round they'll go Leave it with them, see if they can deliver. Meantime here's hoping the team can go on a decent run
  10. Well now, Andy Cameron, you've picked an appropriate user name as you're clearly a comedian You weren't speaking about the last six years? Well maybe you should be and that's a generous figure, it's more like 9. Many have consistently warned about the direction the club has taken in that time. Who said the club was "finished" ? I didnt Debt free with the best..to correct you.... midfield in a few years to compete in the lowest senior tier of the game. Is that all you've got? Yes you do need to go on...and considerably This has got nothing to do with a few bad results, we all expect that from time to time. It's got everything to do with fucking about in one of the worst leagues in Europe but having absolutely no future gameplan to buy into You, Jaggy Snake and the rest of the cavalry put everything that's written on here to one side. When you sit at Broadwood on a Saturday and look around at the hundreds of seats that used to be filled but are empty now, are you seriously saying that the majority of those missing are doing so out of "agendas" against one person or a small group of people? It's your melodramatic nonsense that's not helping anyone, you clown I think we'll beat Stirling on Saturday, beat them in the cup, and make the playoffs. The very least Clyde should expect.
  11. You think someone like SSB makes a decision based on what he reads on P&B, you serious? Tell you what's frankly embarrassing, describing the last 6 years as a "bit of a rut". But OK, put the counter argument, tell us about all the positives surrounding our club right now - the platform's yours, go for it. To answer MDC's post. When we've made the playoffs previously, we just about scraped into them. This season the midfield's improved, even the one available to him now. Before Lowdon & Easton were injured we were shipping too many goals. That tightened up for a while but it's gone backwards. Unless that improves and quickly, it'll be a major task trying to scrape in again. We'll also need to hope Peaso stays fit & in form, because if something happens to him, don't know where all the goals are going to come from. So of course it's possible, but not if the form stays as it is. There's plenty effort but it doesn't help when the manager plays people out of position or singles them out for public criticism. f**k's he thinking?
  12. This season, yeah hear what you're saying, I'd have expected a fairly comfortable 2nd or 3rd at this stage, but never expected top spot even pre injuries. Otherwise I think we were in line with what we had. I expected nothing and it was duly delivered, albeit factoring in the "debt clearance years". Course we're not in them years now..... When youve had key figures over the past decade repeating terms like " lower your expectations" and "we've been punching above our weight", what else can you expect? Bravo little people, mission more than accomplished. We don't expect anything anymore Still think we'll probably just about make the promotional playoffs in this dire league...what an achievement...
  13. They did for the past 5 seasons No sure we've got a split support either, unless I missed a post somewhere saying everything's wonderful
  14. Really good post BB As for your question, the answer should be no, we shouldnt have to. Outwith standard fundraising like race nights, lottery tickets, merchandise etc, ask any of the fans, over the years, throwing money into buckets, pay for this, pay for that, give of your time, do this, do that....all on the premise that by doing so it would "fix" things and a bright future would emerge. And where are we now? So don't worry BB, no doubt you'll be advised soon what you've to do.
  15. Lichtie, how you view Arbroath and what they should / shouldn't be doing is for you and your fellow supporters, that's not my concern. How you and fans of other clubs view Clyde isn't my concern either. Think you've mis-read my post anyway, I said nobody supports Clyde expecting trophies and titles, but we've the potential to be far better than we are presently. Taking your last point, any club with a half decent potential who get their act together would likely progress up to a better level relevantly quickly given how dire the overall standard is throughout the game right now. Any Saturday where there's a full card throughout the leagues, how many neutrals do you think pay that kind of money to watch what's on offer...any league you like? Double figures maybe? The posts you've read from Clyde fans aren't due to two or three bad results, or while struggling in the Premier or Championship, it's while struggling in one of the worst leagues in Europe. When Totten took over at St Johnstone they were rooted to the bottom of the old 2nd Division. Should the Saints fans just have said, ah well, that's our standard now, that's fine? Where I agree with you, we do have some decent players for this level and still have a reasonable chance of making the promotion playoffs....that's for this level.
  16. Cowdenbeath and Arbroath fans basically proving my point Feeling your desperation for relevance mind...and thanks for dropping by xx
  17. It's not a question of "politics" HD, it's basic If ANY club gets driven into the ground, it has a direct effect on the standard on the park. If that reduces dramatically to the point it's barely watchable, the only way to counter that is offer some kind of hope / vision for the future that the majority can buy into, take it on the chin short term. If that's not in place, serious problems But OK, cards on the table. Can anyone explain to me what "agenda" literally hundreds of Clyde fans had pre name change debacle to stop going other than the quality was garbage & there was no long term strategy to get enthusiastic about? Anyone?? Nobody starts supporting Clyde expecting titles and trophies every year, but we've an understanding of our history, a respect for it and also our potential. We're operating with around 30% of our fanbase in attendances now... I've read all the spin contradicting that in the past few years. But unlike the M.O. of those following most teams in the bottom 2 divisions, generally content with their lot which explains why theyve spent 95% of their existence in them, we should expect something better The day guys like SSB & CST post what they've done, if that isn't a wake up call I dont know what is. The days of 'just turn up and see what happens otherwise the club might die" are gone You can agree / disagree with people's decisions, it doesn't matter, they've made them. Appeals on here won't change that and neither will shirking responsibility The way forward? Accept reality, learn from mistakes made (everyone makes some), and give the majority a reason to engage.
  18. Agreed, cause & effect, straightforward I understand where HD's coming from, but it's a two way street There's also something that seems to be happening more in football, not just at Clyde. Since when were fans supposed to view supporting a club an extension of their working week as opposed to a pastime or distraction? Fundraising has always taken place and those doing so are to be applauded, but the amounts raised should be a bonus, not the mainstay of revenue. Now it seems Clubs are putting the onus on fans to do it all "if you REALLY love your club". To be fair David Dishon acknowledged this a few years back, you cannot continually draw from the same well, it's unsustainable. That's not a business model. Fans will do their part if they see their club shouldering the main responsibility, that's the way it always used to be.
  19. That term's been used by many people for years referring to fans who've followed the club from Shawfield to Firhill to Douglas Park & onwards. Is that news? You seem animated about its use in a specific post, can you show me which one? Or on the assumption you've got a life and don't have time to traipse through posts, I'll explain it for you We all inherited a situation due to a decision taken in the 30's that benefited the club short term, but was catastrophic long term. The idea Clyde had to sell their ground is a myth - what, he sold it to himself with his new organisation the GRA he set up to get around a ruling?? The idea is you learn from your own history. The club are again looking at their long term future. Presumably we all hope the club are around many years to come and flourishing, that future generations don't look back and ask why they were left with a legacy condemning them to forever being in the lowest reaches. So it's a key decision and from the VC's comments today they've shortlisted 4 options. So they have to balance that with kick starting the process via an option most of the existing support can buy into. If only 200 or 300 go for it, there's no chance. It's also time sensitive, to re-build they need to make a statement of intent. As each year goes by, you only need to look at the posts of some diehards in the last 24 hours. But this is where the wider consultation last year made sense, use it as some kind of a guide. So yes, they've got to consider it carefully but also mindful the clock's ticking. What has this got to do with any specific group of fans, old guard, new guard, train guard....what are you talking about?
  20. I sympathise boys. It's NYE, go out & enjoy yourselves. You're wasting your time on here anyway as the usual M.O.'s "it's been a bad wee run, let them blow off some steam...it'll all be forgotten in a few days...if we win the next game it'll be fine...if we win the cup game it'll be great" They just don't get it & haven't for years Have a good one anyway lads
  21. Ukulele more like, couldn't hit a coo's arse wi' a banjo
  22. The manager will be frustrated. He signed a group of players with a specific system in mind and been unlucky that two of these key players for that system have picked up long term injuries. This is where he'll need to show his mettle. At this level it's very unlikely you can replace like for like. He knows the strengths of the players he does have, and if need be adopt a system he doesn't prefer but that suits them best. The only system that matters is a winning one. If he can find the right blend in defence that tightens up that'll be like a new signing. Yes they'll be a loss, but better it happens now, give him the chance to devise a slightly altered system and get them used to playing that. We've been playing competitive games now for nearly 2 months and not kept a clean sheet in any of them. Whether the lads were fit or not, that's a problem. It's not feasible to go through an entire season knowing you have to score that many goals to keep winning. So I agree with others, there's no reason to write the season off, but there could be if he perseveres with a system that doesn't suit his players. He's still got decent options available.
  23. Very unlucky with the 2 injuries, but those are the cards dealt, and you have to adapt Am I right in saying that at Berwick, McNeil was a right back and at Annan, McNiff a left back? Might be wrong, but thought that's what their fans were saying. If that's the case, play them there and try Perry & Smith in the middle. See if it at least looks a little more balanced, something to try & persevere with. We have limited options there so I'm willing to try any version, but that to me would seem the most obvious if that's their more natural positions Losing Easton for any period is a blow, but while Jamie Watson is listed as a forward, I've a feeling his best position is just behind the front two where he can create. So maybe a 4-3-1-2 With his signings he obviously had a preferred system, but that relies on personnel. You have to adopt the best system for the players available, not just try and make a system fit if they're not best suited. There should be enough there to get something working
  24. I see, fair enough My view of recent signing. Seen him play before at this level, wasn't impressed. Couple others have also seen him play and feel he will likely be a good signing. Fine. We'll all be agreed we hope he does well. It's a football forum. I have never know any Clyde fan to want a manager or player to fail. I have seen attempts to nullify any criticism on the basis they "must have an agenda". Desperate stuff.
