Does anyone else feel like Brown might actually have some sort of health issue? I feel awful, like I'm laughing at the afflicted watching him, as they cheer him on as some sort of joan of arc figure. Deeply uncomfortable viewing. Or maybe it's just that watching it has made me realise they're dead, and feel guilty for revelling in the misery of any decent fans of the club.
This story has gone beyond hilariously outlandish to outright disturbing.

Brown's interview is a classic, reminds me of the mental old jakes you get in Glasgow pubs who corner you at the bar and drone on and on in conspiratorial tones about a load a pish.

EAST FIFE FAN SURVEY - To give credit, the survey does offer the opportunity to say you think the scums should be excluded from Scottish fitba altogether!
The purpose of this survey is to gain an impression of East Fife supporters' views on the current situation in Scottish football.
1. At what level should a Newco be allowed into the current SFL set up?
Into SFL Division 1
Into SFL Division 3
Not at all
2. If Scottish football is reorganised into two leagues should a Newco be allowed in the top tier?
Yes
No
3. If reorganisation of Scottish football to allow a Newco entry to the top tier means that East Fife would be financially secure for the next two seasons, should the club support this?
Yes
No
There would seem to be no way for them to ensure that only East Fife fans are answering that survey. Must be a more targeted way to reach them, surely?
Raith Rovers' chairman's comments are wonderfully eviscerating.

"This is the same Rangers whose supporters threatened to torch our stadium and whose manager demanded that one of our directors was named over his involvement with an SFA judicial panel, which resulted in TV cameras camping outside his door and threats being made by various outlandish factions. We also had Sandy Jardine publicly calling for repercussions for those clubs who have not supported Rangers."Given that, how could I, as an individual, be expected to roll over and have my tummy tickled by some inducement to allow Rangers to come into the First Division. I gave my opinion to the board on Monday night and the board had a position which was not in any way different from my own."That does not mean, if and when there is a meeting of the SFL clubs and a vote, that the outcome will go the way we want it to go. I imagine some clubs will see some short-term advantage to be had.
"But if, long-term, you cheese off your season-ticket holders and supporters and backers, is it worth it? Do you sell your position for 30 pieces of silver for some short-term advantage or take the moral high ground?
A football chairman who gets it!

That doesn't sound like a buyout at all, just someone putting themselves forward as a fans' leader against the custodians of the club (such as it exists).
About a year or two too late for that.
BTW, does anyone know what the significance of this damn 'Albion Car Park' is? Always seeing sevco supporters mentioning it in reverent tones.

At this rate sevcomedia won't be organising 9 man protests, they'll be organising volunteers to play for the team.

Calm down - the smiley should have told you something !
Seriously, the point I was making was that you made the statement re. "at Celtic's bidding" without even thinking about it, it is so ingrained into your psyche. That is where we are at regarding Scottish football and that is the mentality that HAS to be changed.
Now is the time.
I suppose that's true.
Agreed.

The quicker you lot realise that the days of the diddies "doing your bidding" are over, the better.
What's wrong, not feeling so Billy Big Baws without yer pal to back you up ?
Read what I said! I know that didn't happen. Traynor, Keevins et al will try spin it as if it did, in their typical snivelling way.
Anyway, I and many Celtic fans aren't very keen on the alliances we've made with the dark side in the past. I agree that the voting changes do need to be made, TV revenue does need to be distributed more evenly and away teams should keep the money brought in by their fans at trips to Celtic Park.

Celtic fans will be boycotting themselves at this rate.
If Peter Liewell comes out with a statement tomorrow then I will truly be shocked to my foundations.
There's no real need for us to make a comment now. Besides, we did make one ages ago that made it fairly obvious what our vote would be if you read between the lines. I rather wish we would, mind you. Of course, if we did there's always going to be some media idiots like Traynor who'll try to make it look like all the rest of the clubs did it at our bidding.

How many Rangers fans are going to move club to D1 with Thistle? I suspect they'll support whatever Zombie Rangers emerges and plays as or Chelsea / Man U / Everton etc.
That's if a Zombie Rangers ever does emerge, which is even less likely if they're rejected from div. 1. Even then, they might end up as a semi-pro club with the same name, perhaps crippled by the running costs of Ibrox, yo-yoing between div 2 and 3 for a few seasons. They would draw the ultra hardcore maybe (though they appear to be anti-Green), but there's no doubt a big chunk of Rangers fans who'll just want to go and watch some half-decent football on a Saturday. Opportunity there for some clubs (obv. not just in Glasgow!)

Clubs like Partick Thistle have everything to gain and nothing to lose by rejecting them from the first division. The second biggest club in Glasgow, with a chance of promotion to the SPL, and lots of (the less-bigoted variety of) ex-Rangers fans looking for a team to support - it's a big opportunity. Not really sure what the clubs like Peterhead would do, since I gather it would be a vote of all SFL clubs, not just Div. 1.

How many players do Rangers (oldco) have under contract for next season? Presumably those who were out of contract have already gone?
I think they're down to about 10-15
0 -
I would pish myself laughing if Celtic voted yes.
If Celtic vote yes then Celtic Park will look about as busy as Ibrox will this season. Unlike our late friends across town, we have taken action against our own club before, when it was going down a foolish path.
They won't do so, as it doesn't make any sense to do so.

Haha, the mentals now convinced Naismith was an undercover tim all along.

He seems to have been having a go at Thistle? Not sure what's happened there.
Evening Times will probably struggle with no Rangers fans to sell rubbish stories to. Another nice benefit!

No Europe for at least 4 seasons
I suppose, but again, you cut your cloth to suit, and you budget for Europe as a bonus, not a neccessity, maybe even save the season ticket money until you get there. Also, they were unsustainable even when they were playing* in Europe regularly and dodging tax.
In the meantime, if/when they get to the SPL, they'll just have to make do with a wage bill of 5-7m or so, instead of 17-20m. That's still several times higher than any other club except us. Oh, the agony and paucity of resources!
*'Playing' being a somewhat generous term for the particularly agricultural brand of anti-football they adopted.

I don't understand why they think a club called Rangers couldn't be run sustainably*. If Celtic can do it while winning titles and reducing debt from a once rather unhealthy level to a very low level now... They seem to be insanely attached to the idea of a 'benevolent' strong man financially doping them to keep pace with their better-run neighbours.
*The new club has a problem of course with no season ticket money.

Rangers have to change those gates and the front of Ibrox tiles to 'The Rangers' now.
That would make me so happy, for starters
Imagine you own a sign writing company and you get given that job. Would be spectacularly satisfying. Cash in hand up front, of course, with that mob.

Celtic are selling a souvenir magazine about the derby games, and I notice the site makes mention of this:
ON May 28, 1888, the newly-formed Celtic Football Club played their firstever game, beating Rangers 5-2. On April 29, 2012, the newly-crownedScottish champions took to the field for the last derby match, and beat Rangers 3-0.Nice wee subtle gloat there

If the club has been sold to greene, can someone explain what duff and phelps will be doing for 10 weeks?
The club hasn't been sold, just assets, essentially. Rangers still exists as a husk for the moment, with staff and a playing squad. It will be liquidated though.
In effect there are two Rangerses just now, neither of which can play a game of football!
0 -
I am pretty sure they're not allowed to call themselves that under liquidation rules. You can't use something that is so similar to the previous company's name.
Anyway, WSC have the only good piece by a Rangers fan I've read. Where are all the other sensible fans of that club? http://www.wsc.co.uk...b-is-liquidated

yes:
Kilmarnock
Celtic
ICT
Ross County
Motherwell
no:
Rangers
Aberdeen
Hibs
Dundee United
St Johnstone
Dundee Hibernians
Hearts
imo
Not a chance of Celtic voting to let the new co in.
Wait, that's what you're saying, never mind

Not totally true. Every time a parcel of land has opened up round here recently it's been built on. Although maybe that's only happening in salubrious Central Govan and not scummy outskirts like Ibrox
The council flats that used to be opposite Ibrokes were taken down a good while ago now, large plot of land (just about big enough to put a small football ground in, in fact) sitting empty and derelict for a couple of years now. It's an even worse area than the area around Parkhead used to be before they started building Commonwealth Games stuff around there.

Everything McCann done in his time has proved to be in Celtics best interests . Pity he never got the credit of his fans . This rangers story has holywood blockbuster written all over it but it might be too far fetched for them . Maybe the FBI should be called up
Indeed, one of the most important men in Celtic's history, and he did it without the bluster of someone like Murray. One of the problems at the time was that a huge swathe of our fans are/were rather gullible, with a tendency to swallow any old pish the Record/Mail would publish, much of it from the likes of Traynor lionising Murray's approach and deriding McCann. Sad, really.
This whole thing really is like a season of the Wire. Rangers Tax Case blogger is obviously Lester Freamon.
*As for the suggestion that the nuclear thing might be them colluding with BoS to have Celtic shut down, it would make me laugh (and yeah, wouldn't really matter to anyone else). One of the best things that happened to Celtic, forced change that was needed.

has something very fishy has been going on ? Rangers apperently were allowed to borrow and keep borrowing by the BOS where as Celtic were nearly wound up unless they paid bank debt.
One of McCann's first actions was to move our banking to the Co-op. Given their apparent propping up of Rangers through MIM at everyone else's expense, it seems to have turned out to be a very smart decision.
