  1. In football we all have a tendency to judge our team based on the last performance. I hope we don’t do this for Dumbarton. I hope our players assume they’re going to be every bit as effective at getting results as they have been over the season. It was only a couple of weeks ago they went to Stranraer and won 2-0, a place where we have taken a total of 1 point from 2 games.

Now that we’ve reached the top, I hope we don’t choke or approach things any differently. This is a great opportunity to win and open up a 5 point gap with a pretty decent goal difference advantage. It’s going to be very very difficult, especially since we played last night while Dumbarton rested, but I hope we can bag the 3 points.

  2. Wasn’t at the game yesterday but I saw the Stranraer manager saying he felt they were “superior all over the pitch”.

If that’s true then we’re going to need to improve for Tuesday night against Forfar. Forfar fans on here saying they were brilliant in the 2nd half yesterday.

Our last 3 games have been super tight against the bottom 3 in the league. It will be even harder against Forfar in midweek. We can’t be remotely thinking about the Dumbarton game at the moment.

It’s been very scrappy of late. Delighted to be challenging but we are overdue a really good performance and it would be nice to keep a clean sheet for a change.

Onwards to Tuesday and hopefully 3 points.

At least we’ll get to see another tantrum from the homophobic Stirling neds when it’s called off.

I think there was literally one homophobic comment from our resident village idiot (he made several other generally abusive posts, and is probably revelling in Elon Musk’s new era of free speech on Twitter).

Report him and mute him, as i have done.

I thought young Duffy was excellent

I wish I didn’t, but I have to disagree with that part. I thought he was frequently wasteful in possession. I’m desperate for him to do well but to me Cammy Clark is better, both defensively and offensively. Maybe the manager will rotate them when we have midweek games.

  5. Well that was far from convincing and we looked distinctly disjointed but full marks for turning that around. Great celebrations at the injury time winner, which seemed unlikely given how few chances we managed to create in the 2nd half.

Was a pretty grim spectacle as a football match. Don’t think Bonnyrigg have been involved in many footballing classics this season.

Delighted for young Flynn Duffy getting his first goal BUT I’d play Cammy Clark ahead of him every day of the week if I was manager.

Have to assume Robert Thomson is carrying a knock for him to start on the bench. Then he came on and for some reason kept coming wide to get involved. Hope he’s fit for the next game.

Bonnyrigg look like a team of triers but low on quality. Suspect they will finish 10th but hopefully they don’t end up relegated. Brought 200+ through when bottom of the table so fair play.

  6. Meant to be minus 4 overnight. Hope the covers work their magic but not holding my breath.

All games against Rose have been tense affairs this season. Would expect another tight game. If it goes ahead then I really hope we score early and force Rose to open up more.

I see Albion have put out a statement saying they'll be writing to the SPFL about it.

I'm not wholly sure what the point of that is, other than for the SPFL to tell us to get our act together. But it doesn't reflect particularly well that they've put a statement out before we have. A simple few paragraphs apologising and explaining the sequence of events last night, and everyone would've moved on.

I’m guessing the fact there was also a (perceived) poorly communicated late postponement the previous time hasn’t helped our board’s patience.

Hopefully Dumbarton get a proper system in place to have someone competent check the turf well before kick off in future, and that’ll be in the end of it without this escalating into a comedy feud between the clubs.

Key thing here will be to keep charlie Reilly quiet

Well we definitely didn't manage that part but I still think we deserved the win.

Firstly, an incredibly good goal from Danny Denholm on the volley.  We looked good and had the upper hand.  Then Albion Rovers break upfield from our corner and Reilly produces an excellent finish to get things back level.  Perhaps our players are the only ones in the league who don't realise how good Charlie Reilly is, as we then stood off him in midfield allowing him to run through us and produce another fine finish.

We then grabbed a rather strange equaliser when Carrick prodded home and it seemed to completely wrongfoot the Rovers keeper.

A close range finish following a corner gave us the 3 points we probably deserved.

Rovers are clearly a half decent team and they have one exceptional player.  I can't see them finishing bottom.  They brought a decent support through as well.

Maybe all of those old duffers on Facebook will now realise that this isn’t the 70s and playing two upfront doesn’t automatically lead to a glut of chances because we created the square root of f**k all today.

It’s comforting to know it’s not just our Facebook page that’s got a moronic element who only come to life when the team isn’t playing well.

  10. Very hard to tell if it touched his arm but the way his right arm moves across to where the ball hits definitely looks suspicious and I can understand why the ref sent him off.

Fantastic comeback given the circumstances but I still don’t think there’s much between a lot of the teams in this league. Another very tough away fixture at Forfar looming. Dumbarton at home to an Elgin side who are also playing in midweek. Despite not going great guns of late, I think Dumbarton continue their excellent home form and squeak another 3 points.

Things would be tastier if I disliked Dumbarton but I’ve always quite liked them despite the heartbreaking last game of the season in 1995 — the only time I’ve cried after a football match in my life.

On what grounds do you want him exiled to a footballing backwater? His case didn't even get to court and there are no charges against him. Man Utd suspended him whilst this went on but now that its over then there's no reason for further action.

Because of what he was recorded saying and doing. You don’t need to be found guilty in a court of law for people to form an opinion of someone’s character. He’s a c**t and he deserves to be hounded wherever he goes.

I’ve suddenly developed a new found fondness for Darvel.

Part of the problem is some directors involved in the LL will be closet (or open) Old Firm fans and will instantly salivate at any plan involving Rangers and Celtic, which will influence any vote. And some of the clubs have barely any supporters to keep the directors in check.

So — if you support a club who has a vote at any point — make sure your chairman is acutely aware this idea needs tied up in a bag and thrown in the nearest river. If we have to make some noise every year to stop this pish then that’s what we have to do.

  13. That was pretty grim. Annan are clearly getting back to something like their old selves. They are a physical, stuffy side who are hard to create against.

We struggled without big Thomson up front and neither side threatened much even at 11 v 11. The red card further deflated us and Annan imposed themselves on us without creating much until a proper clanger from Currie gifted them a tap in.

We struggled to get many bodies up the park to chase an equaliser — playing with 10 men and without Thomson’s physical presence really took its toll. We huffed and puffed until they broke away and sealed it very late on.

Fair play to Annan — it’s not pretty but when they’re on song they’re effective and I think they’ll climb the table now.

For us, I thought Dunsmore was really poor. I’ve never been convinced by him but he was especially wasteful today. Good to have McLean and Leitch back at least. Hoping for a better result next weekend.

I've watched the highlights now and it looks like 15 pushes Kai in the way of the left back's foot. A soft one, but a penalty for me.

That said, McGachie is completely taken out in the box near the end. How a penalty wasn't given there defies belief???  Rose definitely hard done by there. As for Connolly's second booking, that is a fair challenge for a ball running loose and it's the ball he plays. For me not even a foul, never mind a booking.

PS I'd appeal against that sending off.

I agree with all of that. Our penalty was soft but it was a penalty. Rose should have had their own penalty though — looks pretty clear cut from the highlights. And the sending off was never a second booking and possibly not even a foul.

    Statement o'clock.

    Club Statement – F.C. Edinburgh (fcedinburgh.com)

Belated apologies, a reduction in prices (though appears that pensioners have to pay the full price), and some weird stuff about the name.  They now want to be known as 'Edinburgh'.  I thought the tin pot video from the summer said that this wasn't allowed, and in any event it does hee-haw to address the real issue of the name change.

Shouldn't grumble really, £6 up for next Saturday 😀

“We apologise for changing the name so we’ve decided to change the name again”

  16. I like the idea of a Scotland-wide rating system but i’d take the source website with a pinch of salt. For example it rates Brechin as 36th best Scottish team, whereas Clyde are down in 50th. I know Clyde aren’t doing brilliantly but they’re 2 leagues above Brechin at the moment.

I suspect the system is putting too much weight into recent results and not enough into the overall “class” of the team.

  17. Aren’t Stenhousemuir missing 2 very good players on loan from Queen’s Park? Once they both get in the team that could be a game changer.

Yes your manager doesn’t sound like he’s the next Pep Guardiola but I still think your team should be stronger than every other team on paper and you’re still right in the title race, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

  18. Sounds like a lot could come down to who's injured for each side.  We have a fair few doubts to key players.  Leitch got stretchered off last week so I'm assuming he won't play.  If we're missing one of Fotheringham or Thomson then that's a real blow.  However if they're *both* out then that really weakens us.  We've been a different team since Kai Fotheringham came in, and our back up striker for Thomson is nowhere near as good.

I'd probably take a draw if offered it right now.
