Raffi Torres gets a 41 (forty one) game suspension for a check to the head in his first game back after basically two years of injury. There are enforcers and there are thugs. And he's a thug. Even just looking at him, you can tell he's mental. The Sharks look like they'll be mediocre again this year. Joe Thornton's absolutely wasted on that roster.
Third highest suspension in NHL history, and he has been suspended for a total of around 75 games in his career.
Anyway, the NHL is back tomorrow! Toronto and Montreal open the season with Chicago and NY Rangers playing an hour after that.

Ottawa were almost out the playoff race last night. Were down 3-0 to Pittsburgh and with Detroit winning that would be Ottawa out, but they came back and won it 4-3 in OT, some game. It leaves them a point behind the penguins with 2 games left and level on points with Boston (with Boston having a game in hand tonight against the caps).
They're on quite the run overall since hammond jumped in net for them a month ago i think

If Anaheim kept the big guns fit, they might have a chance. I think it'll be someone strange that wins it this year. maybe even the form team in the league, Ottawa! Ridiculous run to get themselves in playoff contention. The Hamburglar will run out of gas eventually though
Fell apart last night after losing 5 goals to the Rangers after a period and a half. He got pulled and Ottawa ended up losing 5-1, meaning that the NY Rangers are the first team to clinch a playoff place. Has been a remarkable run for Hammond tho!

The Leafs really are making this attempt at tanking obvious aren't they? Have lost 6-3 to Calgary, 4-1 to Vancouver, and are now down 4-0 to Edmonton in the battle of the diddy teams after only 13 minutes! All in the last 4 days too
