    What utter rubbish.

The bloke with the grasp of the "business world" just hopes that "somehow" massive advantages can be overturned.

    Embarrassing drivel.

You know I thought I led off in my post with "this might be pie in the sky thinking" and then replied to Gordons question how I thought the money could be shared out and put forward some pretty radical points that I hoped other clubs own their own accord broke the OF dominance and consistently did well in Europe. Yes it read of rubbish and drivel as far as a narrow minded person would view the content but for other free thinking folk instead of hobbling the OF, other clubs managed to somehow break the OF dominance.

In favour of my drivel and rubbish is that the OF's dominance has been broken in the past and Aberdeen were the last to do so. In some circumstances if not most circumstances clubs have consistently broken up the OF by finishing above one of them like the past two seasons in the top flight. It appears that beating both of them is the hurdle that needs to be cleared.

Finally! Yes I fucking believe at some point in the future we will see another club out-with the OF winning the title just like Leicester did. My only concern is can they win it the next season or could another club then do it?

I just don't like your approach to getting a more level playing field at all.

Remind us all again which subject you got banned for again? :1eye

You really scraped the barrel there didn't you? quotes from 4 and 5 years ago? Not my proudest moments and why I stopped posting on the subject. But it appears that you are using deflection and whataboutery to help out a fellow bear in need that keeps posting content that could easily be read as STILL having a dig at Celtic fans on the fly using some method to point score and be a total bawbag on the forum.

I take it you didn't read my last posts before posting?

If his intention was to "preempt" his fellow **** from making a thing of it why not raise the issue with them on swallow swallow?

All good points my good man, but who the f**k knows what goes swirling around in his alcohol saturated neural network at times?

His faux-pas? I genuinely believe the auld duffer fucked his post up completely. Didn't help at all by not explaining his position on said post and how he came to post the content because he read it on another Sevco forum, and that he would be possibly embarrassed if his fellow supporters used it publicly.  He said his hands were clean on the matter but at the same time fuelled the fire that came from his idiocy which I'm certain he enjoyed reading.

But then again he has made these sort of situations before that appear to be a vehicle for some other sinister motivation and then claimed otherwise. I'd actually hate to think he knew exactly what he was doing by creating an exit strategy so he could have a fly dig on the cheap by posting it on the forum and then citing other reasons for doing so.

He probably knew as I would have come to the same conclusion that someone from P&B may have come across said slur in question and then posted in on P&B themselves that the sevco support are despicable. His stupidity was trying to pre-empt the situation and it totally blew up and backfired into his face (glorious) and got out of control. At least I hope that that is what has happened. :)

I dont want to see any overhauls, or buying players for the sake of buying players.

But our defence has been for years now, an area we just dont appear to want to strengthen, Our Midfield is stacked with talent, and were constantly linked with midfielders.. We have 2 great forwards in Dembele and Eduoard and another great striker in Griff, with other attacking options given the depth we have, But defensively? we lack and thats my point.

How did the loan to buy work out for Roberts? Fans loved him, great young talent, But out of our price range.. And anyone we likely get from any major clubs in Europe will cost us, just like Eddy did.

I just want to see us highlight problem areas and address it, instead of seeing reports of links with midfielders, strikers well out of our price range and scouting guys well never get.. Doesnt make sense to me.

Totally agree with strengthening the defence and has been a problem for a few seasons now. Marvin Compper? was bought to bolster the defence ffs, hasn't done f**k aw yet of note but was a name I had heard of and I thought the weakest area of the squad was being addressed. He may at some point become fit and will probably feel like a new signing and on a personal level I think he is a better defender than Celtic is currently fielding. I'd be happy with buying another CB but he really needs to be a step up in quality than the players we have. Not saying our defence is totally shite but there is a need for that step up in quality for playing in Europe. Surely the club can fork out for a seasoned CB to bolster the defence and secondly to help the young defence improve by his experience from playing in the top level.

I'm happy with Brendan's scouting methods in acquiring young strikers and then developing them, has definitely benefited the club.

Yes the midfield is flooded ffs! An embarrassment of riches domestically but does the squad have the quality to compete in any meaningful level in Europe? I'd have to question that by recent seasons pumpings in Europe and the lack of scoring in the group stages because the midfield gets over run by the oppositions midfield they turn into shite defenders because they can't find a fucking pass to the forwards, and even worse they can't even get out of their own half at times.

I'm sure and I hope the club bring in a seasoned CB who has at least played at the highest level at some point in their career.

Just as there is absolutely zero bigotry in the last few pages nobody has said mocking the alleged cover up of child sex abuse is jovial banter.

I had read the Ryan ‘Big Jock’ Kent ‘joke’ on one of the first pages of the Ryan Kent thread on Follow Follow. As was pointed out earlier Kincardine is a regular on that forum and would most probably have seen it there.  It wasn’t funny there, it’s not funny here and it’s certainly not jovial banter. Nobody is defending the arseholes that posted it elsewhere.

Was that not Kincardine’s original point? Let’s hope the young lad is not associated with these kind of comments

Yip, you are correct in this instance. His wording or structuring of his post came across in very bad taste and read like a sneaky as f**k dig at child abuse.

He'd have been probably better informing us first that he has read that some? most of the Sevco moronic support may/will use Ryan Kent as a vehicle to promote petty vile point scoring over their biggest rivals after what he had witnessed being posted on Follow Follow. Even more so in despicable bad taste in light of Sevco's handling of a victim of abuse with his time at Rangers.

An apology for fucking it up and then not trying to clarify the situation properly would suffice rather than being a dick about it would have been the best option. But instead the fanny decided to leave a feeding frenzy for the {diddies & plastics} so he could massage his narcissistic ego at everyone else getting into a lather over his incompetence to convey a simple message that his fellow supporters are probably going to embarrass themselves publicly again using child abuse to point score.

  7. Toughies for Aberdeen, hopefully facing better opposition will get the best of of the team on the counter attack. Can see the sheep defending and defending deep and hopefully McInnes drills them in defending lots whilst counter attacking in numbers. I feel this would be Aberdeen's best strategy to get any sort of result.

Hibs look as if they have got a decent chance but we'll find out eventually. The defence needs sorted.

Sevco's chances might be totally against them as I think the Croat's are no mugs and their country is a conveyor belt of talent just behind Belgium. Didn't see anything from the previous round to suggest they will have it easy on the night or that they will score goals against far better opposition. Haven't seen their defence tested in any meaningful way either.

AEK Athens? I'll wait to see if Rosenborg can be beaten first although I have confidence Celtic will progress because Rosenborg appear to be a basket case atm. Only problem might be the new manager will get them firing on all cylinders playing as a coherent team.

This is nearly right, but really wrong in the most important way.

When the profile of Scottish football is higher, the lion's share of any additional money goes to the OF. It gives them the funds to be less uncompetitive with the big boys, and to utterly dominate at home. Sure, maybe Aberdeen get a few bob more, they have a slightly higher standard of player and make another round in Europe. But there's no way they finish ahead of Rangers, twice in a row, deservedly, and until Brendan came along they were seriously hunting Celtic.

So the question is - do you want the additional money if it means a much less competitive and entertaining league and cups, much more dominance from the OF, and much more fuel for the condescension of their fans?

    Money can't buy you love.

This might be pie in the sky thinking Gordon. I'd like to think that the other clubs outside the OF on their own accord could bring in better revenue streams so that they could raise the level and profile of our game without the OF's influence. That somehow another two or three clubs regularly compete in the EL group stages year in and year out can independently generate income to improve their squads to mount a credible title challenge of sorts or more likely beat the OF more often than not in home competitions. I'd like to think those clubs fanbases would increase because of the improved quality of player and the knowing they could beat the OF on a more level playing field than we have at the moment.

Taking those factors above tempting more higher profile sponsors with bigger revenue deals not because of the OF circus guaranteed 4 times a season but because we have 4 or 5 teams scrapping it out for cups and titles. Daydreamer stuff but hopefully somehow other clubs outside the OF manage to be successful displacing the OF dominance by finishing above them in the league and by beating the OF in the cups.

Ultimately I'd love to see another club lift the SPFL Premiership title. I remember the last time Aberdeen won the league, seems like centuries ago now. A different club winning the title can only be good for the game as a whole, hopefully after ten in a row. A certain fanbase would just die after the ten in a row and I'd be happy for another club to break the OF stranglehold.

Gaffers starting to piss me off..

I love Brendan, but the lack of Transfer Movement is worrying. Defence has been a clear issue for years now and we never seem to address it. Were short at the back as it is, and the players we got arent going to cut it in Europe so why are we stalling?

All im ever seeing is us being linked to midfielders or attackers. at prices were never paying.

We have the ability to do a decent job in Europe and ensure domestic dominance by simply shoring up our defence. We got to a UEFA cup final with a team that had a good mix, and we were strong in all areas.. So why do we keep continuing to ignore our defensive duties?

    Ill never understand it.

Like you and many other Celtic supporters the lack of incoming quality players is starting to be a worry. Although Brendan retaining just about all of our key players and maintaining the squad as they have had several years to know each other and bond, that can only be a good thing in the long run. Brendan has a squad of players that have had two years CL experience in getting pumped on the park but reaching the group stages non the less. At least not like a few other clubs Celtic aren't having a complete overhaul and then having to see if all the new players gel together.

Can't see the club buying loads of players and then hoping one or two come up to the standard required at the club like the club used to do any more. We can probably expect one or two more signings, most likely defensive cover or even hopefully a marquee signing to solidify the defence. The club has a few million to spend surely and securing the services of a targeted player can take longer to acquire but worth it none the less if it is a player with a name we all know.

I can see the club taking a few loans with maybe an option to buy, hopefully from the bigger clubs in Europe. This seems the most likely approach from the club "try and buy". Saves the club forking out millions for donkeys who ultimately fail in the end.

You dont need to apologise. Plus it's good to get that off your chest.

One of the happiest c***s I know at church gave his testimony last night. I was totally taken aback at some of the things he went through and the level of depression he fell too and had him close to taking his own life. For him, visiting a church changed his life. Now he just throws his problems at Jesus?

Anyhoo, had a guilt trip and is now a burden offloaded. :)

  12. I thought I'd apologise for my earlier post. Depression and it's affects is not a laughing matter or one to joke about either. I have since removed the offending post and can only say sorry for being a complete dick.

Having suffered several bouts of depression recently myself I feel somewhat embarrassed by said earlier post.

I got to the age of 46 before I felt any meaningful loss of death of a loved one to whom I was close with. If that wasn't bad enough I lost two further family members in less than two years, one of which was my mother. The circumstances around my mothers passing only came to light and had me at war with a few unscrupulous family members who took complete advantage of an elderly woman suffering from advancing Alzheimers and had raided her funeral savings as well as other callous acts that deprived her of pain medication by stealing them. My fighting with them only got me charged with some made up charges and ultimately I could not attend her funeral because I would lost my shit completely because they were in attendance.

I'm lucky, I work in a church and got plenty of support from the pastor and the congregation who held a vigil because I had to miss my mums funeral.

I suppose you have to stop your life when you are depressed and take note of what you have and the future you can have with all that's left from a previous past you can't do anything to change. You can't dwell on the past and think that if only you could have done it differently things might have come out differently, what's done is done and you can only change the future. Blaming yourself for not doing something when you could have is a disease that only festers with each passing day, you have to forgive yourself for things you may have or have not done.

Changing your thinking is as hard as it gets when you are at the depths of a terrible depression, but if you can manage to see even a glimpse of hope in the dark, grab it. Don't get trapped into the cycle that things only go bad or expect them to be bad, life is what you make it and making a new future can be difficult and if you accept that life won't be as it once was you have taking a small step in the right direction.

Once again sorry for the earlier post.

Yes yes Hibs are raking in some money from the extra gate increase. If you had read my post slightly different then you'd agree that Hibs would make far more money if they had drawn a bigger team where Hibs could sell more and command more money for the tickets as well as bigger TV revenue and bigger brand name advertising and could easily earn far more money than £280K.
Not saying playing earlier in the competitions won't generate income but if Hibs reach the last play-off round to the group stage then Hibs will be raking it in big time and we are talking millions instead of hundreds of thousands here.

No. We wouldn't. We make more money the more rounds we're in. Through both gate money and prize money.

Yes I do recognise how wrong it all is. I suppose we'll see a diddy club and associations revolt at some point in the near future when them c***s at the UEFA HQ try to squeeze more automatic group stage places for the big few. There will be talk of a splinter competition for all diddy associations to compete in threatening UEFA's favouritism towards greedy clubs and associations by making their abomination less attractive for huge amounts of obscene money.

Iirc wasn't there talk about an Atlantic league not so long ago?

It's one of those problems only rich people would have. Hand Lord Snootyton a handful of coins they might think that a shiny new 1p was more valuable than a dirty old £1. All because it's prettier.

For the likes of Sevilla & RB Leipzig entering at EL Q2 they'd blow through €200+k on the fuel for their private jet & the 5* Hotel in one round. They don't realise how smaller clubs can penny pinch in comparison and probably stretch out one round's worth of money across the entire qualification process and then bank the rest as pure profit.

To go from Q1 this year to the Playoff a club would bank €1.08m in prize money. That's nothing to the big leagues but a helluva lot to most of the clubs that make up the qualifying stages.

I can't believe I got that soooo wrong by trusting another source.

Good to know that our clubs will in our leagues financial position can obtain 7 figure amounts if they do well in Europe. Other than one obvious club I hope for a successful campaign that has more than one club in the group stages. I'm not trolling.

The 1980s did indeed arrive before the early 1990s, as did the 1760s.  I've not suggested that either represented a golden age.

Instead, I've expressed regret over how the European competitions started to be altered in the early 90s.  It's not actually as quirky an outlook as you seem to think, you know.

Funnily enough though? In the 1990's the TV companies started to throw money at football. So it's no surprise that the bigger clubs and associations started to flex their muscles to syphon most of the cash by creating new formats to make it harder for smaller clubs and associations to reach the cash lucrative latter parts of their competitions.

Seeding is by far the worst part of it and in particular in favour towards the bigger leagues who have clubs seeded that haven't played in Europe for umpteen seasons. Whilst other clubs that play in European competitions year in and year out have been unseeded even if they have better runs in Europe just because their league isn't regarded as one of the big leagues. I think the coefficient should reflect the clubs performance in Europe rather than the countries coefficient.

I actually wonder why the f**k UEFA run two competitions at all? What is the point ffs? There used to be three competitions that were for A, The league winners B, The National cup winners and one for those who weren't winners but got a chance to win a European trophy. Now it's two competitions and I don't a fucking difference at all other than a sham to give the bigger clubs that get knocked of the Champions League another chance to shite all over the smaller clubs by having another chance to win a lesser trophy???

The modern European competitions are designed to give the bigger leagues and clubs more chances to pish all over the smaller leagues and clubs imo.

  19. I do love it when someone gets so wound up and has a complete heads gone that they create an alias dotting account to show how much a particular poster really gets to them.

The saddest b*****ds are the ones who create multiple dotting accounts and that a one point I've seen a poster made them daily so they could show how much they hated a particular poster. This way back when you could only give out 3 red dots daily.

I do wonder what goes on in the mind of a poster obsessed to the point that your main account negative rep just isn't enough to show someone you do not like them one iota, and that creating one dotting account alias just isn't enough either that they have to create multiple dotting accounts to really show a poster this is how much they get to them.
