Wish I could find more information on the plans and the thought process. Surely that wasn't the extent of it?

It did not go down well with the Clydebank support. The crowds massively fell off (sure they once got 58 folk for a game) and they took to cheering the opposition's goals towards the end.

They were relegated in 99/00, taking numerous hidings along the way, finishing on 10 points. I recall we pumped them 6-0 at East End. Sure St Mirren smashed them 8-0. They actually finished 5th in the second division the season after and then 4th before folding.

He's a rambling flange who clearly has little idea of what he's on about, as has been shown on multiple occasions.

Clydebank didn't fold, their fans has raised the money to buy the club only for Jim Ballantyne to outbid them at the last minute and move them to Airdrie as Airdrie United due to Airdrieonians folding the previous year.

  2. Brilliant performance yesterday and over the last few months. I'll admit after Bonnyrigg I could only see Stevie A getting us relegated. But that game seemed to be a turning point. We became much more attacking (particularly away from home).
Great achievement again. Looking forward to next weekend to celebrate making it official.

  3. I agree with this.

People downplay how important this is, something I've been chanting since that awfully negative article on the OS. If you breed negativity you're doing absolutely ziltch to aid your cause, infact you are massively hindering it. Confidence in football is massive, we seen that first hand the season Murray took over. By reminding everyone how little we are, how poor we are and how impossible a task we face is shockingly negative.

Yup it's the sort of stuff Alan Adamson was saying every week and it was self fulfilling
  4. With the draw for the winner of the new home shirt being made today I'm wondering if we might get to finally see it.

As long as it's white with a gold and black band I'll be happy!

Get out of the 70's our colours are black and gold. The white strips aren't our traditional colours.

  5. Speaking purely as a fan the football was nowhere near as good under just Murray as it was under the two of them. That's completely undeniable and not my opinion. I've no idea what went on in the summer that Ross left, but something pretty major changed and that was clear to everyone from the start of that season.

Ross might be a poor manager, but that doesn't make him a poor assistant. In the same way as being a good coach doesn't always translate into being a good manager, they are very different roles. FWIW I think Jack's done fine considering the pretty useless squad he was handed by Lennon. His big test will be next season.

I don't know if you have, or if you know them or whatever, but I've never spoken to a player who played with us at that time that didn't get on with Jack Ross...the same cannot be said of Ian Murray. It was the same when I was over at Ralston with St Mirren, although nobody addressed it directly it wasn't hard to see why Rae was succeeding where Murray wasn't.

Murray brought a professionalism to the club that had never previously been there. That's now instilled in the club, and that's why he failed at St Mirren. Because that professionalism - acting like a full-time club who train twice a week - doesn't work where it already exists.

Like I said, he's more appealing than Gary Locke or other continual failures. But I don't think he's right for us anymore.

While I don't want Aitken to go if he did then I still think it would be silly to not even consider the manager who achieved our highest league finishes for 30 years and who is currently available.

Particularly as none of the other names speculated about inspire confidence.

  6. Yes.

Look at the football we played in 2013/14. It was scintillating, goals everywhere and proper attack.

Jack Ross left and we were dross. In 2014/15 we scored less than we managed this season, conceded more and ended up with less points unsurprisingly. Were you genuinely saddened to see Murray go? I wasn't. It looked the perfect case of thanks very much for all your great work Ian, but it's time for both of us to move on.

Muzz also doesn't have many contacts.

Your entitled to your opinion on Murray and Ross but its just that, there is no proof that Ross was some sort of mastermind - in fact going on his brief time as our interim manager (which was woeful) and his time at Alloa there is little to support that.

Murray kept us in the league 3 seasons running (all fairly comfortably) so if Aitken was to go he would be an ideal replacement.

  7. Aye, unless he's found a competent assistant, it's a big no from me. We were dire in that last season with him.

In saying that, alongside someone decent then he might be ok...I guess...

Don't follow this - Murray finished 7th, 5th then 7th in his 3 seasons Aitken managed 8th yet we wouldn't consider taking Murray back.  What's all this about assistant manager - is the suggestion that Jack Ross was somehow the mastermind behind the scenes????

  8. Because it leaves us with no management team, 2 signed players and a bunch of other players in limbo with pre-season under 3 weeks away.  I feel we've got enough on our plate just trying to get a good squad signed up at the moment, to add in looking for a manager there makes things a hell of a lot harder for us.

There's also the question of who you replace him with if he does go, I don't know about anyone else but the names banded around for every other job at the moment are very uninspiring.

I think the "this better not happen" was in relation to my suggestion of Ian Murray as a replacement if Stevie Aitken goes.

  9. Doesn't matter who it is, I'd Stevie does go, I'll support them, locke done well at hearts, maybe shabbily treated, but we don't know what went on behind the scenes, and maybe he never done that great at killie, for the most part, but one bad managerial experience, doesn't make him a bad manager, I'm sure even Iain McCall has had poor times at clubs, and he's had a few. Definitely Darren young for me though,

So there's a good shout for a certain Ian Murray to return.

  10. Would it be the worst thing if he moved on?  Think he's done a decent job but if he went then fair enough (not saying I actively want him to leave) while we achieved the goal of staying up there were some right dodgy performances and without Nade the goal machine who knows......

First person to mention Jack Ross as a potential replacement gets a red dot.

  11. Tend to agree with the comments not getting the fuss about Jack Ross. He was the boss for one of the most inept Sons performances ever - 5-1 home defeat to Morton. If memory serves we were 5-0 down with the Morton players acting like it was a training session. Absolutely woeful performance and probably one of the main reasons the board, rightly, didn't give him the job.

  12. I reckon it could be time for Johan Cruyff to take the reins.

Gutted Murray's gone but good luck to him. No dinosaurs please, we need either an up and coming manager or take a punt on another ex pro. Should follow the same process as last time and advertise to see who fancies it. Don't go straight to an out of work manager.
  13. It might make no sense, but it might also just be accurate. Ian Murray had a wonderful first couple of seasons and deserved all the plaudits he received. He is though ambitious and for the second close season running the chatter is about his possible move to another club rather than the prospects for DFC. Bear in mind that he is on a reportedly (second) good package here for a less than a full week.

My main area of interest and concern is Dumbarton FC, hence my original opinion. I fear that a disinterested Manager may well risk turning the club around 360° and I saw worrying signs of that towards the end of the season just finished.

    Just my view.

I spoke to one of the players on Friday night, who subsequently has re-signed for us, and his comment was that Murray had been hounding him to make a decision. So I think Murray is still focussed on the job.

  15. I have obviously missed when it was announcement he had applied for another job. Where was that announced? Btw I'm serious I haven't read back all the thread so if it's been announced that he has applied for another job (St.Mirren I presume) I missed it.

There was nothing mentioned by Aggy when I spoke to him on Friday (he may not have been in the know) he only mentioned that Murray had been chasing him for a decision on his future.

  16. All of which merits a move to a bigger club, something which is probably now best for both parties.

That makes no sense whatsoever. If he's been so successful that bigger clubs are looking at him then we should want to hold on to him. It's hardly "best for both parties."
