  1. Reporting in Singapore that the incubation period is possibly wrong and more like 24 days than 14 and that less than 50% show signs of fever at the outset. Could explain how it has been a disaster in China and possibly quite a way to go if true. We are all dooooooomed
  2. Sounds a bit overkill, but the right thing to be done. Its flu season out here, so it’s likely nothing but a heavy flu. Here’s hoping, Good luck. If you have to be quarantined, don’t pick the cruise ship option.
  3. What a time to be alive, or soon to be dead or at least riddled with the dreaded sniffles! China breaks 1000 deaths in a tour de force that is unrivalled. The discussion now turns towards 50,000. Can they break such a magical figure? If anyone can, it surely must be the Chinese. However, team effort has to go to the independent nations under the Sneezing Princess who have amassed 136 points. The idea of quarantining on board a cruise ship with all that alcohol and food is possibly too much to bear. Singapore continue to pull away from the pack with another 2 points, bringing their tally to 45. Sabah now bar Singaporeans and an economic crisis looms for Singapore if West Malaysia follow. The UK finally get themselves in order and are now chasing down France and Germany to be top dog in Europe. The frontline entertainment band, Stiff Little Fingers had to cancel their show in Hong Kong yesterday, but thankful the show for the battered and beleaguered troops goes ahead in Singapore on Thursday. Good on you lads! That fat orange gimp in the US has declared all this to be over by April. Like Kevin Keegan ranting about ‘loving it’ he is sure to be wrong... as usual.
  4. Would be difficult for the NHS to call me, I haven’t stayed in the UK for 20 years, but thanks for your concern.
  5. China continue to steam roll the opposition. Despite some signs that the tournament has peaked with fatigue setting and the points tally slow. China put in some extra effort to surpass 900 deaths and nearing 40,000 points. Singapore put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack with another three points, but the nation free competitors under the sneezing Princess flag firmly hold second place. The UK move up the table with a solitary one point addition. Questions will surely be asked by the governing body after all the money spent to import ringers that have just not fulfilled their promise. Singapore government, who banned mainland Chinese and people with recent travel history at the start of february. While still ‘dingying’ people at immigration have just cancelled Employment passes and deported 4 people for breaking ‘self quarantine’ rules and suspended 6 companies from employing foreigners Off to Vietnam for a couple of days now and will see how these guys are approaching the event and maybe get a sneak peek at their training methods and tactics.
  6. The fact it might be peaking isn’t great news for the media. The death toll being higher than SARS is factually true, keeps the panic high and thus sells/clickbait. Think Welshbairn published some stats on flu deaths in the US a good while back. If this was kept rational no one would be bothering. We have people, even on here, posting clips and claims with no foundation and laying claim to this proving its: Bio-weapons, some secret virus that will wipe is out, etc, never mind the apparent racist undertones against Chinese/Asians. It’s a animal cross over virus we have no current cure for as its new. It’s highly contagious but not a massive killer and has been badly managed/controlled at the start. China are getting control of it now, it will generally spread a bit more in the coming weeks*, due to again, some poor management/decisions a few weeks ago, then fade out. Unless it rears its head in another country who manage it as bad as China it won’t get to much worse *. The second worst affected country is here in Singapore. Its been managed very well but still doesn’t stop people acting irrationally. The passed two days you would think the end of the world was coming as people have been panic buying. As said several times before, the big topics on this are political and economical and still to be felt. These will far out weigh the health/medical side. So you are right in what you say, but the reality is a lot more boring and not as much clickbait. Let’s sit back and wait in utter panic for theroadlesstravelled next inane post. *Of course China has yet to ‘return’ after the holidays and don’t underestimate the potential stupidity of local governments and employers in the next few days that could make things a little worse again.
  7. Missed a HUGE opportunity there Slippery P to confirm that Bangkok is in fact a nickname and write out, in full, Bangkoks name. I’m fucked if I’m doing it, is your bat mask wearing country!
  8. As China continue their push to record breaking levels and no one will doubt their industriousness to achieve it. Singapore zero in on the Nation free participants playing under the ‘Sneezing Princess’ flag with a further 7. AND BREAKING NEWS........CHINA HAVE SMASHED THE SARS WORLD RECORD OF 2003......SUCH A HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT.......805 CONFIRMED DEAD... Anyway, 7 more in Singapore bringing us to 40. The UK plan of holding a conference in Singapore to garner signing targets has somewhat backfired as currently more Singaporeans than British have signed up to the sneezeathon. The UK are also now in a fight with France over the 5 confirmed cases in France originating from this conference. Pools panel will decides later of it is to be a home or away win. Thailand get back to winning ways, but not enough to catch Singapore. A note to Slippery P that the military cannot just shoot people and expect the points. Panic buying in Singapore kicks in.
  9. The kid has no symptoms or confirmation of the illness, just had some proximity to the confirmed case in Brighton as many others will also have. Common practice the world over just now (don’t know if it is a WHO directive). Actually shocking, sensationalist journalism, trying to suggest the kid has coronavirus, but actually reading the article would tell you they haven’t. STOP GETTING CORONAVIRUS WRONG
  10. As Slippery P has said. Standard stuff for Asia. Done here every two weeks as standard. No context. Bio weapons being deployed by zombies.
  11. As the racism debate lumbers on in, ‘I’m not a racist, some of my best friends are.........’ China does its best to resolve the issue with their own extinction. Through the 34,000 barrier and zero-ing on the SARs to competition numbers in record time. They really are the MC Hammer of the sport! The governing body have had to intervene in a dispute over nationality and ruled that some athletes can compete under an independent flag and they now hold second place. This pushes Japan back down the table. Singapore increase their grip on third, whilst Thailand hold fourth but now have South Korea sneezing down their necks. Singapore go to Orange that level and it remains to be seen if the flutes and sashes will work.
  12. Singapore ups it threat level to the second highest. Highest being all out panic and everyone for themselves. We are now at alert level orange. Not sure how flutes, sashes and bowler hats are going to help, but who knows, lets give it a try. Masks the essential fashion item for flying these days
  13. Think the facemasks for bats is working. That and just ignoring it and it will go away. At the airport heading home now. Not a temperature scanner in sight. We are talking every precaution and still over taken you in the table. #masksforbats
  14. Singapore put in a hard working performance to overall Thailand only to be blown away by a few minutes of shear genius by Japan. You have got to love the Japanese for innovation on and off the park and on the high seas. Australia keep plugging away and surely will finish in a high position. However, China just keep marching on. Figures not fully update and are well above 600 in deaths. Clearly they are going to obliterate every record from the 2003 SARs tournament single handily. China is supposed to return to work next week, let’s see how that goes! UK dived into the transfer market to try and improve their position with what appears to be a solid signing from Singapore for an undisclosed fee. Time will tell. Singapore now publishing and infection map, so everyone knows how to go about getting in on the action:
  15. In my experience Mainland Chinese are generally oblivious to racism. Get into a conversation with a group of them and start talking about races and its like a 1970’s sitcom.
  16. Most of the deaths are due to other complications, mostly pneumonia but also heart and other conditions. Still most over the overseas ones are still actually mainland Chinese. It is a big debate, just like naturalisation and the ‘granny’ rules. Should you represent a country that you have never been to just because your granny got fucked by a waiter from there whilst on holiday?
  17. A big day yesterday for Singapore who finally pushed themselves ahead of The Land of Chuckles with an impressive 4 tally, bringing it to 10 in two days. Most linked to a Chinese tag team on a shopping and coughing spree through Singapore. It will be interesting to see what Thailands reaction will be too be knocked of off second spot. Belgium join the competition with a solitary point. So far no update from the world champions but surely they have broken the two milestones 25k and 500. We will know later. Mrs John McVeigh is a tit looking for a call up to the Singaporean squad with the latest outbreak within yards of her location yesterday and turns out the outbreak of Tuesday is within sneezing distance of my work. Fortunately I am on a scouting mission in the Land of Chuckles so no sniffles for me yet! If you don’t here from me for a.....(cough).....
  18. Kind of thinking that myself, could be worth 3 or 5 possibly. Kind of feel if I contact the newspaper and point this out they might, kind of, think I am being insensitive or inconsiderate or something. Not sure why. Things are kind of a little closer to home now. I an in Thailand at present and my HR contacted me earlier to check on my family. Allegedly 4 more cases in Singapore that would put us into second place, however one of the cases is within my local community, so a little concerning. My bravado may be punctured tomorrow!
  19. What a time to be alive, (soon to be dead, or probably a bad doze of the sniffles). Like listening in awe at the stories of people who seen the greats in their prime: Pele, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Pettigrew we will regale the stories of the magnificent China team of 2020! Just missed out on 25k and 500 yesterday, but they will achieve that today. The rest, no significant movement since yesterday. Singapore have started discharging some of the sick and noted some have been given anti HIV medicine (cue the Bio-warfare nonsense and panic)! Let see how the teams perform today.
  20. Thailand and Singapore go for it in a high scoring day for the also rans! Both Thailand and Singapore hit 6 each to reclaim second and third spot in quite an exciting tournament day. USA also land a few points, but as above they are more interested in their own domestic (world) competitions than competing in globally recognised competitions.
  21. Some activity today. Second death outside mainland China in Hong Kong. Malaysia get a couple more points on the board and Thailand start to export the virus when a South Korean tourist returns with the virus along with her other tourist tat. China still show there supremacy with two more cities in Zhejiang going into lockdown.
  22. China ‘playing this correct’ as noted above.... with a huge spike and dramatic increase in both infections and deaths while everyone else standstill. As a contest, there is none. China are so far ahead of everyone else it has about lost meaning and as a competition. No change in the other medal positions. Japan holding on to their slender lead. Vietnam quietly going about their business and pushing up in mid table. Remains to be seen if it is too little too late. After a quick surge from the European teams last week, there inexperience in this competition is glaring. Next target for China will be 25k and despite such a low kill rate, bookies are shortening the odds of China beating the death goal tally of the Total SARs competition of 2003 in record time. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/topics/wuhan-virus
  23. A UK researcher published the figures had to be inaccurate from initial data modelling. I think I maybe alluded to that right back at the start and is what tweaked my interest. When this broke and China were saying a couple of hundred infections and it was starting to appear overseas the modelling done suggested this was not possible and the figure had to be above 1700 at the time. That multiplied out would come above 75k now. I think it’s safe to assume the numbers were fudged and delays on the reporting (and your right what you say). What a mess, that possibly could have been mostly contained.
  24. Think the final sentence in the article sums it all up: Mr Reed added that the Foreign Office were 'disinterested' when he told them about his infection
