Anyone wanting a laugh, go and have a look at the kerrydale street match threads for this one.

Among the expected 'Beaton is a ***' / 'What about this incident from three years ago which was refereed differently' / 'You get them telt, Brendan' shite, I did like this comment from one ItaliaBhoy, which shows an ignorance both of the SFA's own admissions re which clubs have been shafted by bad VAR decisions, and how many goals Shankland has scored from the spot this season.

They seem to get almost as many decisions as the **** from VAR.  It's really boosted Shankland's stats, whihc would be average without all the penalties.

Going to assume you mean '***' here, which is a term that has nothing to do with religion. I mentioned Rangers because 'penalty to Rangers' has become a meme in Scottish football, and I mention Hearts because we played them yesterday, and because of a previous game where we should've had a penalty for a handball but didn't get it. And if my memory serves me correctly Hearts also got a penalty for a handball in that same game.

Bloody hell - I read your first post and thought 'he's surely not referencing the Michael Smith handball there, is he?'

Because that would be hilariously daft in a generalisation about teams not getting penalties against them.

Incidently, here's what Rodgers said after Olusanya was sent off against Celtic.

Speaking to a former SPFL ref last night and he said the Celtic penalty was a subjective one and so one VAR certainly shouldn't have been involved in, and the Celtic one a penalty by the rules, but still a bloody disgrace, since the rule is idiotic.

But he also said that the red card was 100% a red card and Don Robertson made an error in the original yellow - if the studs catch the player in the face (as opposed to, say, the laces), refs have been instructed that that is unquestionably a sending off offence. His assumption was that Roberson didn't realise the Celtic player's studs were forward until VAR called him over to the screen.

He was also quite scathing about the likes of Neil Lennon going on about the lack of malice, as though that made any difference.

So not week in, week out then.

    F**k me, you're a humourless fuckwit, eh?

Or, to be strictly fair, maybe just not the sharpest tool in the box - exaggeration for (in this case self-deprecating) comic effect it's called. It's actually quite common on things like football fora, as opposed to the court of law you appear to think this place is.

As far as cutting the allocation because of things like missile throwing and pyro I'd suggest incrementally closing of the first row, and then if it persists closing off the second row etc. and then restoring them after each game that passes relatively incident free

Firstly it means that idiots have got further to throw things and secondly it means that if you are throwing things the people next to you will think you're an arsehole and be more likely to do something about it.

Cutting entire sections from the away allocation seems drastic and cutting the entire away allocation like at the old firm games is ludicrous, unless there's a full blown riot, but dropping it by a hundred or so at a time would be more proportionate

Of course Celtic would probably end up with the whole lower section closed off after a few years but even they might learn eventually

Not a bad idea, but I'd prefer CCTV identifying anyone throwing anything from either support and then a knock on the door from the Police, followed by a public disorder charge.

On the subject of missiles being thrown: if you’re the sort of person who enjoys wearing blackface and peddling anti-vaxxer rhetoric online, you should be thankful it’s only pies coming your way.

    Christ, that's desperately weak patter.

And denying Hearts guaranteed European football until Xmas to boot 😉

TBH, much as I enjoyed the foreign trips last season, I am coming round to the idea that watching Hearts winning against everyone bar the OF week in, week out is arguably a more pleasurable experience than spending fortunes to watch European teams hose us over a two month period in the autumn.

    Husref Musemic

Bosnian player who only played 6 games for Hearts, and scored 3 goals, but he did manage a winner in a derby match against the wee team, so he's up there as a cult hero.

    Хусреф Мусемић — Википедија

Similarly short lived at Tynecastle, but  Género Zeefuik must be worth a shout.

Round as a ball of butter, but 12 goals in 15 games in our first time in the championship, including a three minute hat-trick against Dumbarton and two in the dead rubber final game of the season against Rangers to grab what, without him, seemed an unlikely draw.

Then he was gone, off to Turkey, never to be seen in Scotland again.

Hearts play Rangers and Celtic in the next couple of weeks. Only 11 points off top. On an amazing run since losing at Pittodrie. Dare you dream?

    Do we f**k.

I'm loving this run - it's such a strange feeling to be consistently leaving Tynecastle looking forward to watching Sportscene later - but if we get a draw against each OF team (and a win over Hibs, of course) I will be beyond delighted. We are a very decent side, but perhaps not quite as good as the winning run suggests.

I remain convinced that Clark should be dropped for Gordon, for a start. The man gives me the fear at any high ball.

I seriously think I'm in the minority here but (via the firestick thing) even if a game is on BT/Sky, I'll watch the club TV stream. I actually quite enjoy listening to the colloquial commentaries.

ETA (though hopefully shouldn't have to) that does not include Celtic or Rangers'* offerings

There are some decent ones - I'm obviously a bit biased myself, but I think Laurie Dunsire and Jimmy Sandison do a good, fairly unbiased job on Hearts TV, and the Dee Tv guys were decent last week.

Is Steve Tosh the thickest co commentator in football?

He is up there, but let is not forget that Kenny Miller still exists.

Really brutally partisan commentary all round on Reds TV (which is to be expected to a degree, but I do prefer a tiny bit of sense amongst the slavering).   The bit where one of them referred to Davor Zdravkovski as 'Davor Big long second name' was especially shit.
