  1. He’s shite anyway, apart from his toe pokes against Kilmarnock Inverness he did f**k all in an Ayr jersey. he deserves to live in Fife.
  2. We would have Bryden, Ashford, Adeloye, Moffat and McKenzie. We are apparently going with a smaller squad than last season so 5 forwards would probably be close to our limit.
  3. I googled the Broadfoot story as I remembered it happening but not the details. The first two articles are one from the Guardian reporting that the Daily Record had reported the story and described it as "abusive language" and asked why the same report almost word for word in the Mirror had described it as "sectarian language" The second article is from the daily record describing Broadfoot as the victim and that he hoped the record ban would not put off any potential employers.
  4. He fits the bill for McCall, known player and a leader on the park. he doesn’t fit Ayrs current signing policy but we only have one CH on the books which worries me.
  5. There will also be competition for players, guys like Broadfoot, leaving Inverness to play closer to home could mean he is a very possible player for Ayr, Morton, Partick or Hamilton. If 3 out of 4 of them are interested he’ll be waiting for the best deal. Same with half a dozen other players. Him being confident of a deal at a club closer to home suggests McCall has already been in his ear. How many free kicks would a back line of Muirhead and Broadfoot give away?
  6. Bullen after seeing him in the first training session - "He's f**k all to do with me" I knew he wasn't a Bullen signing or at least he was possibly signed on a recommendation from someone, He came in pretty early on so I'm not sure of the timeline. Either way, the best thing I can say about Kenyon and Gondoh is, they didn't play long enough to show what they could do and they are gone now and unlikely to come back so we will never know. Their legacy is, they have left no legacy.
  7. Kenyon was the right kind of player and he was available at the right time between windows, it made sense to sign him based on Dempsey being out for the remainder of the season. He wasn’t fit and we weren’t in a position to carry passengers while they gained fitness so he never played. From his interview when he joined he had no interest in staying beyond the end of the season. He may be a capable player but we’ll never know. The move seemed to suit both parties. Gondoh, barely got a kick and didn’t do anything of note once he was here. Didn’t seem to play in any trial games or be here long enough to warrant a 2 year deal. Think he may have been signed pre-Glendinning though.
  8. Because no one knows, our signing policy has been very much Leftfield signings from lower league English football, there has been no gossip or speculation in terms of names. We have been told that they expect signings to be made before preseason starts in 2 weeks time so there is nothing to speculate on currently. it’s not just you but there have been 3-4 posts saying “why are we talking about this?” because it’s an Ayr United forum and there is literally f**k all else happening and we know there won’t be anything happening for the next week.
  9. I didn’t say he was arrogant in real life, his playing style was. He would stroll about like he was the greatest defender on the planet, then make a howler followed up by a petulant foul. The Kilmarnock game was a case in point, glided forward to intercept a pass, missed, was completely the wrong side of the attacker. Rather than try and recover just grabs the guys collar. The amount of Hollywood passes he played straight out the park that he didn’t have the stones to do, the amount of times he was caught flat footed and gave away fouls. If he concentrated on doing the simple things well and then worked on the flair stuff he would be a decent defender, maybe even at a higher level than Ayr like McKenna.
  10. McKenna was dreadful at a young age and looked like he either didn’t want to be at Ayr or thought he was well above the level we were asking him to play at. He just didn’t look at all arsed. That is what is maybe clouding peoples opinion of him. He reminds me of Fjortoft, looks like he thinks he should be playing at a much higher level. Plays with arrogance and confidence but make howlers on a regular basis. He was a big lump who was quick and physical so maturing has certainly helped him.
  11. It's difficult to talk about much because there isn't much to talk about until signings are confirmed, strips are released of the vision night takes place.
  12. I remember hearing a story about Bill Barr, don't know if it is true or not. He made a surprise visit to a site, when he got out his car he saw someone sitting in a digger reading a paper. He flung open the door and said to the guy "if you've time to read the paper you've time to use a shovel" and tried to hand the guy one. The guy refused and Barr told him to get to f**k off his site and not come back. When he came back out the office later on, everyone was hanging about. He asked what the hold up was. He had told a BT engineer that didn't work for him to f**k off and they couldn't do anything until they got him back.
  13. I am not saying Barrs time as chairman as a failure. He put a lot of his money in to a lot of projects that benefited Ayrshire, not just Ayr United. His philanthropy came at a cost though and it is fortunate that Ayr didn’t go the same way as Centrum or Ayr Eagles. He put a lot of money in to projects but seemingly had no issue with metaphorically burning them to the ground. None had an exit plan to continue operating once he pulled his funding. Cameron bought the club for a pound and therefore assumed the debt in what amounted to a fire sale of Barrs assets. The unsustainable business model he had created meant that regardless of who took over, the clubs cashflow was greatly reduced with the loss of the sponsorship and hospitality money he was paying over the odds for as well as paying excessive wages. The club was for sale almost from The point the Cameron’s took over and was eventually sold over a decade later so if Cameron hadn’t taken over we may have struggled even more to survive.
  14. Maybe with Moffat he is looking to continue playing somewhere but stay on as a coach. Or his signing a new deal is a formality seen as they pretty much announced his new role about 3 months ago. I am guessing that players can sign contracts without physically being at the club nowadays. Adeloye could have signed by now but hasn't. He also hasn't snubbed a deal or is at least open to an offer meaning we can't be to far away. Or maybe he is waiting to see what happens with his mates at Rangers. Might not be as appealing if they get moves south again.
  15. Propped up the club beyond its means, signed players on £2k-£3k a week with no sustainable business. Left Ayr with a (if I recall correctly) £450k tax bill the next financial year meaning Cameron Sr had the tax bill from the Cup run season to pay plus the wages of some of the most expensive players in the clubs history. The club came to an arrangement to pay in instalments, leased the car park, the shop and the catering/hospitality to keep the club running which screwed us for about 10 years. We didn't screw the tax payer like another team not to far away.
  16. Aye, but they aren’t going to have to walk by Mathie standing on a 6” stage to get there
  17. It was the fact that Archibald was claiming to be a victim and the bad business men were killing Airdrie. Completely ignoring the mismanagement of the whole stadium project. Archibald became a champion of the Airdrie fans while he was bringing over his players and winning them deals at other clubs. And then buggering off again.
  18. The bar revenue shouldn't be in question. It's an event to discuss the future plans for the club rather than a piss-up. last thing they want is being interrupted constantly with folk ordering drinks or going for a piss. Having it somewhere like the Gaiety or Ayr town hall means they can get the numbers they want. probably with very little production costs.
  19. The Hummel bespoke kits like the Myadidas ones are better quality than the templates. I fully expect the home top this year to be in bits by Christmas.
  20. No, speaking to a Kilmarnock fan I know, he said all he did last season was have one good game. Said he looked his age last year. if Darvel go up I would expect him to maybe join them.
  21. Think the contract offer was to ensure a fee. If he’s under 23 and rejects a contract we would still be due to pay a development fee I think. depends on Rangers demands or if they decide to withdraw the offer before he signs it. he is a good player but I wouldn’t spend a wedge (in Scottish championship terms) on him.
  22. Is the midfielder going to Thistle likely to be Maxwell? It’s all gone quiet on him since he left with no gossip about him returning or if he signed a new deal at Rangers. Maybe better from the club to say he’s going back to Rangers rather than he’s signed a deal with Thistle.
  23. If they planned the free day of the league cup games on a Saturday….an away trip with Wednesday would be good.
