  1. He also announced he was signing for Raith just after Hopkin took over
  2. We have signed a highly rated forward from Celtic that has came off the bench three times and still not touched the ball we signed Bruce Anderson and he managed a good 20 minutes across half a dozen games we have the ability in the last 2 years to turn promising players in to hide and seek champions
  3. Strathclyde Police used to rip the arse out of Scottish Football. If you had a 10,000 capacity stadium like Somerset, You had to have Policing for the capacity regardless of the crowd. So Ayr v. Stirling Albion, no beef between support, 70 away fans and three mini-busses of police sitting in the car park just in case which the club had to pay for. Allowing clubs to steward games themselves saved clubs a fortune. When we were made a top category club due to trouble before, you were almost assigned your own police officer or steward at away games. Dundee United/Aberdeen whoever it is fans are going to start costing clubs money on security again. If it happens once then there is no point in over-policing a game, if it keeps happening then we'll go back to 20 policemen in the conservatory at the front of the main stand doing bugger all.
  4. In my late teens I was offered a job in northern Germany and loved it, Loved being away from home and was working with Scottish and German folk, real eye opener and took me out my comfort zone. Everyone seemed pleased to talk to me and make me feel welcome. I moved back to Scotland after a few months and was introduced at my new job in Ayr to a chorus of "awrite?" with no eye contact from my new workmates.........I've never felt more at home. Through using SAP in the mid-90's I was travelling quite a bit and spent time in Russia, Slovakia, Poland and then 5 years in the Czech Republic. Puerto Rico and Mexico. I loved working abroad, I tried to avoid the British ex-pat community as much as possible, Slovak people are some of the best people I have ever met. Everywhere I have worked, the people are mostly the same, all go to work, like a beer to relax and hate someone for no reason. The Czechs hate the Poles, the Poles hate the Ukrainians, The Ukrainians hate the Romanians, The Romanians hate the Mongols.....They are all trying to take each others jobs apparently. Working in a central hub in CZ I worked with Americans, Germans, Slovaks, Dutch, Serbians, Croatians, Romanians, Russians and Hungarians. The Hungarians told me, never trust a Hungarian, they are the only people that can follow you in to a revolving door and come out first. I still don't know what that means but I agreed at the time. I went out with a Slovak lassie in Prague for a few years and kept it going once I moved away and it ended during Covid/Brexit. I'd work abroad again in a heartbeat but with my job, I've only been offered India and Wisconsin, neither has appealed for different reasons.
  5. He’s the type of player you almost have to ignore when you are setting up shape. If you set up Hoping to get the ball in the box no to someone you hope he’ll be there or there abouts. hes not going to come short, or knock on to support players, or take the ball for a walk. It’s almost feet or nothing. he would have been ideal to play alongside McCowan and Smith types who are support players and will score 5-10 goals a season, will be a nuisance and allow a player like Adeloye to create space to have a shot or lay off.
  6. You have an unhealthy obsession with coming on Ayr threads and talking shite, I am responding in kind.
  7. It did, I didn’t realise he was doing co-coms until then he spoke so little, after that you couldn’t shut him up
  8. They also slagged him when his estranged father in-law was jailed. None of his wife’s family had spoken to him for years before he was done
  9. Rob McClean - “Your Inverness play Ayr next week of course Billy?” Billy Dodds - “that’s why I’m here (at the license fee payers expense) I mean, as well as doing my bit for the BBC” Derek Ferguson - “is that why you’ve been as quiet? You’ve been taking notes?” Billy Dodds” NO!NO! “
  10. I remember a time when the Rangers score used to get a small cheer at half time at Somerset. thankfully a thing of the past. The Vally is full of junior fans who are junior fans>Ayr/Kilmarnock fans>old firm fans
  11. He was a regular at Ayr for years. He watched Ayr with “Rangers leanings” I think the, he hates Ayr narrative comes from the fact he always scored against us. He was very complimentary about the club and the ground today.
  12. If you can’t put up A reasonable debate and have to resort to some kind of grooming fantasy about me being “wee” and putting me to bed, then I can’t engage with you
  13. I’m stone cold sober. If you ignore the negatives and only look at slight positives, then you are going to accept failure. Folk get excited about 1 off results without looking at the big picture. My issue with Hopkin is, he is either stupid or stubborn, the good will built up in some of the support will be gone next week when we return to a back 5, or Salkeld comes back in and does nothing, or he drops Hewitt for O’Conner Or Reading drops out and Maxwell is played as a full back losing any of his energy. until we start to show improvement game by game, month by month, I’ll be critical. We have competed with Dundee United over the last 3 years. They are possibly weaker than they were in the Championship. I wasn’t expecting us to beat them 5-0 but I expected us to be competitive which they were. Defeat next week in Inverness would be expected, if history is anything to go by. But If we go back to performance levels of the first hour of the Arbroath game, no corner has been turned. We’ve barely had decent back to back performances in Hopkins time never mind results so I’m not breathing a massive sigh of relief tonight that this season is going to be ok.
  14. If you are playing a team that isn’t putting 2 passes together and you go down to 10 men, that gives them a lift. if you then have to take a forward player Which is often the case, it puts you on the back foot. We could have moved Muirhead back and brought on 3-4 players of the bench in to midfield that could have settled us without killing any forward threat. the fact Dundee United didn’t dominate the game after that point shows that the game was there to be won before penalties. After the Albion Rovers game, penalties should have been a deterrent rather than an aim
  15. Yes, I have been a sleeper, posting on The Ayr forum and posing on an Ayr thread as a fan, even attending all games so that I can post about them. all so that I can annoy you after a penalty defeat against Dundee United in the league cup. all worth it.
  16. They were positive about Ayr in the majority of the game but also very negative about Dundee United. Dodds was an Ayr fan. the single items in my post were what they said, the latter part was my thoughts. Dundee United weren’t in the game up until the sending off and penalty, we could have brought on O’Conner or Chalmers in to midfield, taken off Adeloye or McKenzie, or even drop McKenzie in to midfield and kept some kind of momentum up. going defensive was what has failed us several times before
  17. Facebook mum type post. who did we get in the quarter finals of the tried really hard but went out to a mediocre team despite being a goal up cup?
  18. No I haven’t, you are trying to tie two things together that I didn’t say they said that Ayr had lost all their energy once Maxwell went off, Salkeld has chases a lot down but but not really done anything. they didn’t say Ayr were shite like it seems to suggest I was saying
  19. From what I heard on sportsound. Ayr were sloppy. Subs were confusing. Maxwell off for Salkeld who “made a lot of pointless runs” Muirhead should have walked for an off the ball challenge going down to 10 men, losing a centre half with a spare in midfield, yet bringing on another for a forward was Negative, against a team that wasn’t in the game. Hopkin described it as a training game after that point. Well, manning the barricades rather than pushing on, you get what you deserve the team may deserve support but Hopkin doesn’t
  20. Seems like it is the same problem, we can’t get beyond one pass in a move before we lose possession
