I was delighted to discover earlier that whoever runs the NonLeagueScotland website has a parallel one for club rugby in Scotland:

One of the Edinburgh rugby grounds I've been to a few times is Stewart's Melville on Ferry Road, which has a magnificent stand with gables and a paddock in two levels of terracing:

Are there any Scottish football grounds left which still have a paddock or enclosure in front of the grandstand seating?

Station Park and Cliftonhill spring to mind...

  2. Sammy Stewart scored two goals for East Fife.

The first on his debut v East Stirlingshire on 27th August 1938 at Bayview on his debut after 4 minutes. The second v the same club, again at Bayview, on 6th April 1960. A gap of 21 years and 223 days.

    A Scottish record?

  3. In my opinion Fraser Mullen would be a good signing for Cowdenbeath - he is still young, although he has two years' experience at Second Division level under his belt.

I'm not quite sure what "can't tackle" means but he can read the game, has decent positional sense, will give you the full ninety minutes. He is also versatile, equally comfortable in centre midfield or on the right of defence. He has a good right peg on him. He would certainly enhance most squads in this division with these attributes...

  4. Think it was a social club behind one of the goals at Kilbowie and Cove Rangers also did the glassed in directors box thing in the Highland League. Can remember the decayed wooden terracing at Bayview being in a terrible state back in the early 80s to the point of being genuinely unsafe to walk over. May have helped explain why there were more Hamilton Accies supporters on it than East Fife ones, which was never a good sign given the visiting Accies support in those days was typically using one bus and a minivan at the time.

I'm a bit puzzled by this as Hamilton Accies did not play at Bayview between 1978-79 and 1983-84, by which time the terracing was concreted...

  5. Definitely not the same shirt that was unveiled at the POTY Night, that was yellow!!!

Somebody has obviously been listening to all the moans and acted upon it, why not let us know in advance that they had changed it???

Still don't like it though, our home kit should always be stripes IMO!!!

That away kits not bad though!!!

The shirt is the same colour as the one taken by someone with a camera phone at the dance. As previously pointed out the photo did not reflect the actual colour.

  6. Decent enough performance from the lads, particularly since Nathan Austin wasn't available. As previously mentioned, Kevin Smith caused the opposition problems, particularly in the first half. Kyle Wilkie, Declan O'Kane and Scott Mercer are looking like key signings by the Gaffer - hard to believe the panic some posters were getting into over the lack of signings only a matter of weeks ago.

Not getting carried away though, Falkirk away will be an entirely different challenge next week...

  7. Got a lot of time for Ola. Technically a good player who didn't quite adjust to the cut and thrust of Second Division football. I thought he needed a goal early on to boost his confidence which never came during his spell with us. He's a young kid who deserves another chance, good luck to him...
