I don’t get to many games as I would like but anytime I have seen Lynas hes 100 committed for team.
his leap for headers is under rated. Shows up some centre backs at times on that who we have had in past.
agreed he’s probably squad player but certainly one thats good to have as cover.

Nobody has ever questioned his commitment to the team. But effort isn't enough to merit a contract and nobody should have been signed on sentiment either...

I've never noticed him being particularly good in the air, either. But as cover, he should be fine.

Guessing that will be Lynas signing up then?

As long as he is happy to be a squad player then it's fair enough. I don't really think he is good enough to be a regular starter in league 1. Despite him being a good guy and always giving 100%, I don't think we should have offered him terms. But we have signed pretty well thus far so I'll give Faz this one, for now.

Having watched both mcguffie & McLean play for my team over the last five or so seasons... McLean was much more effective overall...I would have kept him before mcguffie every single time

A lot can change in "5 or so seasons"...

He was a member of that side only in the sense that the kitman or Cappie the Cat also made a contribution. Punted out to Albion Rovers on loan before returning for the dogshit second season.

The difference in Tony Wallace leaving us was that he actually played well in the season before he left. He also had a great play offs that season. He has also went on to have a reasonably good career in leagues 1 and 2.

Ross McLean, on the other hand, has been pretty hopeless for his whole spell with us (apart from one or two matches) and was allowed some "time away from football" since January because of work commitments. Thus, he hasn't even played football for 6 months. I don't imagine he will ever get above league 2 and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the juniors before the end of next season.

  5. Bloody hell. Signing a player who looks to have potential to add in an area we are lacking is great for starters. Then we manage to offload a player who wouldn't be upto the step up and hasn't played for us in 6 months. Furthermore, managing to get a fee for him of any sort... mental!

    Happy Friday folks 😅

If I'm honest he's a player I thought we might sign for about 5 seasons now. Interested to see where fits in.

I wonder if he will be used in that role in behind Ruth. He seems like he'd be a good fit in there and possibly have that bit of creativity we all desire.

Not sure how Queens rated him last season, though.

    Craig McGuffie.

A player I always quite liked. Seen him released recently and thought I'd be delighted if we could get a player like him on board, but didn't expect anything of it.

Not sure how he has actually been the last few years though...

Anyone forking out £135 for a round of golf at Gleddoch? I think it's a really good idea, one that I was ready to jump at until I read the details. Surely arranging it at the golf club in our own town would be better for community engagement? I also appreciate it's a fundraiser for the club but asking folk to get a team of 3 together to pool £400 for a course that I can tee off at tomorrow for £35 seems a bit OTT to me.

I got excited when I seen golf day, thinking it would be something that would interest me. Gleddoch is a cracking course, much better than Dumbarton and probably way more accommodating too. Dumbarton is fine but can be tricky for some members to get tee times at the weekends, I believe.

I do agree it is OTT in price though and it turns out it's on 21st July and I have plans. Also worth noting that the 21st July will also be the last day of The Open. Perhaps not a great date for keen golfers to be out playing if they also like watching it. I hope it is a success, but I'm not sure how much interest there will be given the date and costs involved.

now that Leitch is away and there's no hairband competition he'll revel in his new found freedom...........

    we can but hope.

Is he confirmed as gone? I know we were linked with him, but I'm not sure about it. We already have too many options who aren't quite good enough in midfield.

    Blair Malcolm, talk to me.

A bit gung ho and will pick up a few bookings. He'll do a fine enough job in League 2, but wasn't good enough to step up a division with us. Prone to the occasional howler which will cost you a goal here and there too. But, overall, there's a decent enough player in there.

ETA - he is also a pretty versatile option who can cover various positions.

Whether he was happy or not is a different question but he played 30 odd games for us that season and was one of the top performers. I don't think there was any questions of his attitude either, perhaps he wasn't impressed with his team mates or the management and felt a move back to Montrose was best.

What you said... That's what I was trying to say 😂 Maybe I need a Highlands escape to recharge my batteries...

I agree, he was a smashing player. But I didn't think he ever really settled in as part of the team and was glad to get away. Whether he didn't like being played out of position etc, I'm not sure. In the back of my mind, he was happy to get back to Montrose after that season.

Might be wrong though, my memory ain't what it used to be 😂

At the risk of sound like Stevie Farrell, I mean the "team spirit", as such 😆

He never really gelled? I thought he was one of our best players that season

I could be totally wrong/have imagined this, but I’ve a feeling he didn’t enjoy his time here. Anyone ITK please feel free to correct me on that.

Aye, he never really gelled into the team and went back to Montrose. I think you may be right and there were comments about being back home or something along those lines when he got back to Monstrose. Decent wee player right enough. IIRC, he covered a fair bit at LB for us, despite being a RB.

I figured if it's at an event with fans then it'll be players that are returning rather than new names, although that's just a hunch.

Also wondering what they're going to do for the home top in particular as the last 2 have been absolute bangers. The away top I'm happy to see the back of even though we got promoted in it.

My biggest issue with the away top was the big gap which was clearly left for sponsorship but didn't ever get filled in...

The club suggesting as many as 3 signings today...

I'm taking it as the 3 who we have offered terms, so Lynas, Orsi and Gray. But I guess there may be a new face or two in there...

Can't make it down as I'm gigging during the day today. Gutted as I wanted to see the strips and hear what Faz had to say about things. It is nice to be starting pre season off in a much more positive light from last year!

  17. That's potentially outstanding business that. Not only does it give us options on the left side, but it also gives us some cover (proven to be capable) for CB, we have all been looking for.

If he can regain last season's form, this will be another huge signing for us.

Freeing them from their contract requires a pay off. If there's another club ready to take over his wages then it becomes easier to cancel the contract without a pay off.

I mean, that is correct. But it's such a rarity to see at this level as the majority of players at our level would much rather go and be playing elsewhere.

I suppose there's a chance Stenny have thrown too much money towards the boy and he's happy just to take it. It's not most teams have that luxury at this level though.

As before, if Stenny don't want him, is it likely anyone will actually offer money to take him off your hands?
