Certainly wasn't underwhelmed with either of these signings. Miller wasn't knocked back by Ferranti Thistle, he was offered a contract and he came back to Falkirk to ask for a trial again, after Houston refused it first time round. That shows how much Miller wanted to come back to us. He didn't want to settle for Livi, and thankfully Houston gave him the opportunity

Aafjes was a better midfielder than defender. He had the pace to get up and down the pitch no problem. Not a centre half though. I always quite liked Milne. Preferred him out on the left though

For me, the only thing McHugh really offered was pace, though with that he wasn't that fast. What did become clear was his decision making always seemed to be wrong. The most glaring examples of this being his performance in the Peterhead game (and rightly so hooked not long after half time), or the first Hibs game at home, where he had a chance to challenge for a header into an open net, yet went for a bicycle kick! Can't fault his effort, but unfortunately I just don't think he's got it in comparison to O'Hara, Baird or Miller.

I don't think anything can really be said about the 3rd goal. We only had 2 in defence and no one picked up Harkins who seemed to have an eternity to finish it off. Re: Bowman. It is a shame that he broke his leg, however it's been clear to see that he's not going to cut it at our level for some while now. Couple that with his off field antics and the signing of Deniz, I don't think we'll be missing out on anything. Houston managed to cut free a fair amount of players in January who couldn't cut it. Hopefully he gets the remainder at the end of the season, namely Bowman, Dick, Shepherd, McHugh and Small
