Seriously? Let’s hold a friendly to celebrate 25 years since losing the final? Who’s bright idea was that.

If that’s the best you can do why not just wait and make the first league match the unveiling.

Yet another horrendous decision from our leaders.

Jesus wept. We're holding a friendly to celebrate crunchie FFS . He was one of the mainstays behind our run to the final that season. It's more celebrating him and the cup run itself than just the final. Kilmarnock will bring a decent crowd too at least and as the guys from the crunchie initiative said it's not been easy to get clubs to commit. Friendlies are less and less numerous these days due to the league cup.

Funnily enough my mate is a hearts season ticket holder and he thought they were head and shoulders above everyone else and a very decent team when they were in the championship.

Strange that because neilson was getting a really hard time of it due to the style of football and some really turgid results. Many wanted him punted even though they went up and it was only really this season that hearts fans have  began to back him.

OFGEN have just confirmed the price cap is increasing in October from £1970 to £2800

As much as supporters will want to back the club financially they just will not be able to afford it. Income from sponsors and hospitality will also be effected.

Suspect Falkirk and every other provincial club will be looking at their budgets again.

The clubs that get this wrong will go out of business.

    Not good and worrying times.

It's amazing what people can find money for if they really want it.  I'm sure the club will offer staged payments too.  I reckon we'll be at a similar level to last season ticket wise.

Mcpake can’t be that bad he managed to get Dundee promoted to the top flight!

Never really impressed in the league despite being able to spunk cash on the likes of Charlie Adam, Osman sow and Jason Cummings. 12 points behind hearts and never really challenged them even though they weren't that great if you ask any hearts fan. Only a point ahead of Raith despite a huge budget advantage. Season before ended up 18 points behind united and behind ICT.

No way does Wallner deserve to be in that team, he was a cracking player and had a great career before and after Falkirk. One of Yogi's player fallouts, me thinks.

Nor fellner who scored 4 goals in his 4 starts and 3 sub apps. He was decent for the first division. Lecsinel was top drawer when he played . Just not very reliable at turning up.

That’s actually the problem with them they’ve for some bizarre reason got Sean Welsh playing in the middle of a back 3 and they’re badly missing him in midfield. He’s their best midfielder by a distance so a really strange decision by Dodds.

Strange team all together. Not starting the likes of Chalmers who has been brilliant for them. St Johnstone's bottle didn't half crash in that second half though.

175 years geez its even worse than was thought.

It should be the boards long term ambition and plan to buy out the council. Put some numbers together with an independent valuation. See what the cost would be over a 45 year loan and the difference between the repayments and what the council rip up the club every year.

Councils are strapped for cash so the club putting a casher on the table as a one off boost to their funds could well work.

The status quo in not acceptable and the longer it goes on then the more money bleeds out the club.

All that is needed is the ambition and the drive to do something about it.

Post was most informative - respect

I've no idea why when we had the majority shate of the original group that the council were allowed to design the bloody stadium unless it was to reduce costs or something. We could've had a full ground on a smaller scale for that sort of money instead of a grandiose main stand which is being well underused. The club at least had the idea of using it for hospitality events and parties when George Craig put the marquee up and money started to flow in for the fcsl. However, the council pressured the fcsl management into dismantling all that to allow a company called Oran to take over the area. They did this and then Oran pulled out leaving no event facilities and no new Tennant. It's been a complete shambles by the council from start to finish.

He's absolutely done. No thank you.

If he's fit enough he'd be a decent shout. Played 46 times for Aberdeen and Scotland the season before last but obviously missed a lot of last season with an injury. Cove sounds a more realistic location for him though.

Then got regally screwed in the process.

Take the playing surface FFS we own the pitch but not the land it sits on have you ever heard of such an inept arrangement what we own is worthless. Then to compound the stupidity owning seats but not the stand they sit on and saddled with a 125 year lease.

Council are making a fortune out us.

We don't have one physical asset we can borrow against if the going gets tough which it will over the next few years.

It's actually a 175 year lease. The problem has been that the clubs deal in all this has progressively got worse as time goes on. At the start the stadium company that was created to build and run the stadium had Falkirk FC as it's majority owner.  It was supposed to fund expanding the stadium by developing the land around it. The council though having said verbally originally that the ground included in the deal was right up to the railway went back on their word and it only included land up to the grangemouth road junction. The council managed to prevent any development going through too as it wanted to develope the land over at the fire station first. This then meant  fcsl was no longer viable in its setup back then and the assets were to be split between the club and the council. However, due to the council having put up the 2 million quid for the north stand and loans to keep the fcsl going it meant they now had the upper hand and why we no longer own but lease the land the stadium is built on. Funnily enough accountancy advice at this time was through KPMG and Gary deans.

£9m? Considering the total debt that would have forced them straight into liquidation was about £1.5m, where did the rest go?

    https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12302040.taxman-puts-falkirk-fc-in-hands-of-liquidator/

Nearly 9million quid. 3 million of that was the council's that they put back in. ,The rest the club had but 2.2 million was owed to the stadium city group in loans to Eddie Healey and others  and legal fees. We therefor put in approx 3m and the council put in approx 3m.

f**k me, £3million from the council.  We get it tight from County fans for getting 900 grand off the council for our ground 25 year ago.  Apparently that's not ok but getting £1.5 million of debt written off every year is fine.

The 3 million quid was the money they got from the sale of Brockville as they owned a third of the land. It was ploughed back into the new stadium. It wasn't just cash the council had lying about and wouldn't have been available without selling Brockville and moving elsewhere.

Normally McGlynn likes to get his business done early and get in preseason 2 weeks or so early as well, but he always said when he was with us, he wants the right players in to fit his style of play etc rather than signing a load of players and not be good enough, also he likes to go with small squads as well I don’t know how the injury record is at Falkirk, but over the years has been horrendous and he kept on signing player after player where he basically had too much for the same position type then.. this is how he done with us it might be different for yous

    And breathe.

My abiding memory of him was his abysmal performance in the 4-2 defeat by Stenhousemuir. His lack of positional discipline that day was scarcely believable, and he as much as any the donkeys around him was responsible for an utter shambles of a performance.

Certainly wouldn’t be a great signing in my book. Will be 32 by the time of the new season, and his career is heading one way. Another of the “he will skoosh it in L1” clan……..but he wouldn’t.
For me, the very definition of the type of player that we shouldn’t be signing…..the older guy nearing the end of his career and dropping down a league. We are in the process of getting rid of a squad awash with that type of player.

Yeah. If we're going for an older player I'd much rather it was in the McCracken , Dodds mould . We'll have Watson coming back at some point too and he's no spring chicken. We don't want dad's army at the back.
