  1. One of the best commentators I have ever heard at Falkirk games was in the Brockville Stand in the early to mid 80's.
Guy came in every home game with a couple of blind people and sit a couple of rows behind me and commentate on the game for them.
Described the crowds, weather line ups and pre match build up etc. His match commentary would knock the socks of anything you would hear on the radio and TV.
His command of language, tone of voice was so impressive.
Never talked to the guy but know all those around him held him in high esteem.
    Enough said !
    Anybody else remember him ?
Yes. Think his name was Jim waddell. The blind man who was there every week was John Stewart and was a great character who genuinely knew more of what was going on than most of the crowd. I remember times BBC kicked them out of their seats and the commentary was never half as good.
  2. Bit like buying an old dilapidated house and transforming it into a mansion. Will end up being worth more than he spent on it. His main problem will be dealing with the council.

What profit though? You can't possibly make a profit from selling Falkirk in 10 years time having invested 10m say.
You'd be lucky to get the same price you paid for the shares now.
    All seems very strange.
  3. My take on it is that he is looking to invest in the whole club for 7 to 10 years, in his words, take nothing out and then sell up when the time is right. That is when he will see the profit. Problem will be the price he will be looking for then will be well more than a btb style bid could afford if he builds all his developments. That will be when the wheels come off. He did say let's enjoy it together! Remember he is a property developer who sells stuff for profit!

A couple of people tonight skirted around the issue of 'what's in it for him'? His reply was to also skirt around it by reiterating his plans for the club and in getting us to the Premier. That's his motivation apparently.
A rather handsome, slightly older gentleman then asked outright: 'do you plan to make money from the club, either for you personally or for your company'? He gave a resounding no. I have to say that this concerned me a wee bit as I just can't see why he would do all of this out of the goodness of his heart. I would have been much happier if he said something like; 'Of course we're here to make money, but we aim to do this by making the club richer too, so just enjoy the ride.' or words to that effect.

  4. Hello all old P&B regulars,  hope you're doing well.   It's been far too long since i posted on here.  I normally am content to lurk but had to log-in to mute that Monkey Tennis fella because he's so fucking tedious.

Ditto. Would be a safer place if we all did the same. He makes our board seem bearable.
  5. Disappointed that we didn't get Duffy in the end. A wee night out in Saltcoats for some team building might have done the trick.:)
Not expecting scintillating football but we do need someone like mckinnon to give some organisation to the team. Think this might save us from relegation which was becoming more and more likely by the day if we had gone down the dafty route I was beginning to expect.

  6. I have been willing to give them a chance but anyone who has ever watched this league can see we are hopeless. Our only half decent signings are numbers 23 to 26 which proves how bad the scouting has been. Looks like the players have no freedom to express themselves and sorry but Harris in Lithuanian is spelt petravicius. Think the board should be offering us all a refund and compensation for watching that on Saturday!
