We never said we weren't going to sign any squad players.

I remember Sibbald being not too bad against us on a few occasions.

There were boys playing for Alloa that looked great and played round us a couple of years back but doesn't mean we should sign them. He is mid/late 20's, so not young. released by Livi, has had health problems and was happy to play championship football. We have a whole host of young lads in midfield that would do well at that level and I feel we should be using/developing them instead of paying a (albeit a not large) wage to a boy that will be a squad filler.

If he does sign will fully get behind the lad and I hope I'm wrong but don' t think hes an improvement on what we have.

Edit .. beaten to it by seconds by ArabFC

Fat Tony playing a blinder here. 18 players out and im hearing we have already saved £2 million on wages in June alone. Some boi

Got to be wrong .. however If we were paying these 18 players a total of 40k per week ( to make the 2m a year .. not month) he needs to have a good look at himself as he will have negotiated nearly all of the contracts.  Only Benji you could make a case for paying 2k a week for never mind over 2k on average,

  3. I’d take their pennies and get Ross in.
After a fantastic start the team got worse as the season went on. Points return after 1st round of fixtures was poor and overall very similar to Mellon in terms of performance and points. Mellon was up against teams that were performing better as well I’d say.

just my opinion but if we get papped out of Europe straight away (which is odds on) and start the season like we finished it the knives will be out.
Genuinely hope he proves us wrong though.

edit.. he did introduce a lot of youth though which is a big improvement from Mellon.

I would imagine the 500k figure I was told likely included our contribution to his wages etc.

Regardless 10k a week for a player that we dont own/have resale value from seems crazy.

Would love to see him back but doesn't seem like the best use of the money we have. Could get 4/5 decent players at our level for that and they could potentially kick on and get a resale from them.

  5. Fair play to him. A 4th place finish and Europe is a fantastic finish for us this year. Also introducing 15 players from the academy was great to see, albeit at times it felt like we will give this kid 30 mins and thats another one we can say we have played and they weren't seen again.

The club is going the right way for sure but the football by and large was very poor. We could improve considerably as a team next year and struggle to get top 6 with Aberdeen , Hibs and to be honest everyone except Livi and RC unlikely to be as bad again. I'm far from a hater and dont mind the fella but we scored less than a goal a game which is pathetic. He moaned about being last on Sportscene repeatedly but only Saints had games with less goals than us and if you put us first up folk would switch off due to boredom. Courts can set up teams well against better sides. Make it hard for them but it can be brutal to watch. When we go a goal down we have to go forward and can be a much better side. When its level or we go one we are way too passive.

Anyway, Im hoping as promised it will be much better on the eyes next year and really hope we get another interview at the end of next year saying how well its gone.

  6. Aye they are 1/6 .. a doing is expected going by the odds. Would be surprised if they start at those odds once team news is out. Id be very surprised if changes are not made. Even if they are made , they would still be obviously big favourites. Wholesale changes would/should give us more of a shout but a doing is still odds on.

Bit of a scapegoat and works hard as anything.  Sparks a confidence player.  I am doubtful you could attract better.

Aye he works hard but misses chance after chance and I'd be more than happy if he was to leave at the end of the season. Its not worked for him or us and a fresh start would be good for both.

Would far prefer a physical presence up front .

Theres space in the car for Clark and Pawlett if your interested as well.

Is this a wish list or something which is actually happening?

Not sure Danny Mullen would be on too many wish lists. I like the out part at least and would be happy with the other 2 ins.

  9. No hes played for us and the Belgians. Can only sign for us in this window.

Would love it if we offered the Watt transfer money now for Shankland and wait for watt in the summer. But highly unlikely we would get him for that and obviously ups the wage bill quite a bit as well. Sending Mcnulty back would be an option to offset some if that was in contract but again probably isnt.

I'd say Dundee United's main limitations were their full backs' reluctance to run at Kelly and Devlin, and the complete lack of a CF for 75 minutes, rather than the pitch. They seemed to pass it well enough for Pawlett's goal

Yip, pretty much agree with that. We were far more threatening when we made the double change and had a focal point up front and  Chalmers took up the position Freeman was occupying which gave us much needed threat out wide.

  11. Not unhappy with a point, strange decision not starting Fuchs though. 21 points from 11 is a fantastic return though and around double what I expected at the start of the seaspn.

Hate to moan at the lad but was pretty disappointed in Freeman last night. Especially in the second half when he had loads of the ball on the touchline, his first touch was always back and to retain possession. It just slowed everything down. He was possibly under instruction to do so but would have liked to have seen him at least a couple of times take a positive first touch and swing in a cross.  It could be that Pawlett who was playing inside him wasnt showing but I thought we looked much better when Chalmers came on which forced Freeman inside and we at least had positive intent down that wing.

Biamou made a big difference as well. Provided an option where the ball at least had a chance of sticking and an aerial threat that wasnt there previously.
