Trying hard to reserve judgement until the end of the cuo group and the league starts. The form in this tournament is quite often a false flag and seen many predictions end up wrong. On the evidence so far it certainly doesn't look great though
I notice a few are calling for Bullens head already and can see why anger is simmering. One point to note is that Bullen was brought in as a coach and not the manager . The remit was more about getting the squad players performing as opposed to everything else and the kitchen sink a manager normally would do. Whilst Mathie and Glendiinning aren't the public face here i've got to wonder how much influence/input they have over first team matters.
A few things point to others rather than Bullen making quite a lot of big decisions. Would a new manager have extended contracts or continue to play many of our squad who haven't really done it. Why does a system that started with Hopkin and not really worked continue to feature so often. Bullen doesn't have an assistant yet but is that really as important where others take on part of the role. Have many U23 managers went straight into a mangers position or coach and what team do they have around them. A stream of players arriving from a certain background that doesn't currently offer a balance to the team. Normally people bring in others they have coached/managed before as it brings a bit of stability and the known to the team.
Not making excuses for Bullen here and time will tell whether he cuts it or not. Ultimately his job is to coach and get the team winning but you can also only pish with the cock you are given. Whilst i am sure he gets input on all the decisions i doubt he can get it all his own way like a manager would. I have only ever heard Mathie getting praise and he has the luxury of facing the cameras mostly when it suits If the fans can spot some problems then why has he allowed these to continue. Time will tell how this collegiate appraoch works but punting Bullen may not clear up all the issues in the same way emptying a 'manager' would
Agreed, Mathie imo has a lot to answer for in this! Who actually signs all these players and how much input does the head coach actually have?? Ultimately Smith implemented this business model though and he’ll have to act quickly (again) if it’s not working!!

I find it hard to believe how he can think he's too good to go on trial somewhere.
I rate him, I think he's a talented young player, but that attitude will do him no favours. Having been at Rangers is no guarantee that you will make it. I know a few guys who were at Rangers as youngsters and they either ended up playing junior or are not even playing football anymore.
Reminds me a bit of Kyle McAusland…

Don’t think we offered him £1k/week.
If we offered him less than a grand a week then fair enough if he told us to f**k off.

Believe they have offered roughly double what we did.
So that would be a ball park of around £2000 - £2500 a week?? That’s a lot of money given the current standard in the Scottish Championship!

If its Queens Park I'd be concerned as he could easily be a 20 goal striker in this league for a team challenging. If its Killie or anyone down South then couldn't really care less as be would either be a bench warmer until a January loan move or 'out of sight out of mind' in England.
Pretty much this to be honest.
Disappointing to lose our best three players from last season (in my opinion)in McInroy, Maxwell and Adeloye. We need to add some real quality to that squad now or we’ll be down the bottom with Hamilton I fear again.
That said looking forward to what the new guys can do. There’s always one team in the league I find that does better than expected and one that does way worse than expected.
Wild wild guess time for a bit of fun (full squads still to be decided blah blah blah)

Aye Bullen was asked about it. He said that he feels Maxwell thinks he’s too good for the Championship and would like to wait and see if he gets an offer from a better league. Bullen said he’d be surprised if he gets that offer and Maxwell runs the risk of Ayr having no budget left for him at the end of the window.
Whilst Bullen rates him and Adeloye, you can tell he doesn’t think they’re above Ayrs level YET. He says both can become Premiership players but they aren’t at that level yet.Nice one, cheers Djaffo

I’ve possibly missed it above but was anything said re trying to get Maxwell back for this season last night?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on McAdams? With a few of the players signing longer contracts in the summer I wondered if he’d also be offered a longer deal. Perhaps he was and decided against it? Perhaps Bullen doesn’t fully rate him? Hoping he has a good season but overall he wasn’t quite as good as I thought he might of been when we signed him. Obviously still very young in terms of goalkeepers too.

Looks like Glendinning has done his homework and got us a very experienced player , if rumours are true , supposedly a club has announced he is leaving them soon to sign for a Championship club

Right so if everyone that’s been offered a deal signs on then we should be looking at something like this.
McAdams
Muirhead
New CB
McGinty
Reading
O’Connor
McInroy
Murdoch
New LW
New ST
Adeloye
Subs;
Albinson, Houston, Baird, Dempsey, Hewitt, New W/AM, Ashford
You’ve then got McAllister, Smith, McKenzie, Bryden and Ecrepont to supplement the squad which gives you a total of 23 players which is a good number for this level. It also leaves you with options to switch to a 4-3-3 which might still be Bullen’s preferred formation with the right players. That defence gives me the fear to be honest. I’d be hoping for at least 2 starting defenders to be signed but given the offers made it doesn’t look likely. Hopefully I’m wrong and they can improve as a collective unit but I don’t think muirhead is the answer at right back.

Not been yet. Why was it a disgrace?

Kinda helps when your opponents give you a daft penalty in first 5 minutes then their keeper lets a soft header through his legs.

I’d certainly fancy us against Queens Park in the semi final if we finish 9th but the final against Airdrie (assuming they beat Montrose) would be tough. They’ll have learned after last year and are currently unbeaten in 18 games.

Yeah it looks pretty good to me. Hopefully a good positive performance and we try and take the game to Arbroath.
