Acording to the University of Edinburgh polling study, Scots born Scots voted in favour of independence 53/47, other UK born Scots voted 20/80 in favour of the Union and EU born Scots voted 35/65 in favour of the Union. It is to the SNP's everlasting credit that they resist the temptation to trumpet this fact in favour of a more socially inclusive form of nationalism.
That's one break down of it, the other is that predominantly older voters voted to stay in the Union and younger voters opted for independence. Yes had a series of narrow leads up to the 40-49 year old age bracket and then the older age brackets heavily broke for No.
Probably pretty much what you'd expect. There are various breakdowns, not all of which are mutually exclusive. Most of the electorate cast their vote on whats best for them personally, and so those who thought they had most to gain voted yes, and those who thought they had most to lose voted no. A generalisation I know but its not rocket science. The referendum debate was characterised by a lack of facts and it boiled down to which side you believed most.

A decent bit of business I'd say and I'm happy with the resigning of an experienced defender.

We don't have enough legs in the middle of the park to do that - basically, we don't have a Jackson Irvine.
Last time I checked he only had two legs.

Just heard Thompson is away to hibs as a player/coach and law from sevco is coming to dens
Rumours for a few days now that Law is headed for Fir Park.

Two errors irked me yesterday. BBC Sportsound said that we were away to Accies and secondly, the Sunday Mail reported that Chris Cadden was an unused substitute yesterday.

Sunday Mail reported that Luke Watt was an unused sub for us at Parkhead. In actual fact he was brought on late in the game.

Not Scottish football, but the daily record today has a story on man United, and the champions league. They go on to talk about malmo;
Absurd....they can't even cover Scottish football outwith Rangers and Celtic, but they can cover English and foreign football! No wonder our game is in such a state.

Sunday Mail states that we had no Under 20s players in the side or on the bench yesterday....in actual fact we had one, Dom Thomas.

Any chance of an alternative phrase for the dreaded "clean sheet" ?
Who dreads it?

Prior to the 3 o'clock kick offs the BBC pundits spent ages going on and on about Aberdeen repeating themselves over and over again ad nauseum. They seemed to forget there were 3 other Premiership games and a full lower league card about to kick off.
We even received updates from La Liga - never ever heard that before on a Scottish radio programme. No wonder interest in our domestic game is waning.

Lasley is a dirty auld man but he helped get Well over the finishing line.
He's getting too old and slow and putting in some bad tackles now. Whats your excuse for Dan Seabourne - he created some kind of record for the number of fouls committed on Saturday.

BBC website reports that Iain Vigurs "was used sparingly by Motherwell last term".
Thats probably because he was out injured for more than half the season.

According to today's online Record, we beat Livingston 2-1 on Saturday when in fact the score was 2-0. Would they have made that mistake if Celtic or Rangers had been involved?

I didn't know that "conceding a penalty" was a red card offence (Richard Gordon). Surely the foul resulting in the penalty would comprise the red card offence?

Not sure what to make of that appointment. His time as Motherwell manager wasn't good
Very diplomatically put - you're a true gent or lady. I'm not sure Dossers would put quite so discreetly. If you want an accurate assessment of our views ask on our messageboards.

Having conversed with Richard Gordon on the old Twitter I'd say the guy is a bit of an arse he a competent presenter though an arse all the same.
I listened to this for the first time in a while on Saturday and I was a pissed off to hear Willie Miller doing the Saints game, what's that all about? the guy is just a cheer leader is it too much to ask for someone impartial?
Don't expect an impartial and objective account of any game on BBC Sportsound if it involves Aberdeen. Its a Dons love fest. You don't have to listen to it you know - you can always switch off.

It's a case of if he can find another club, they will release him from his contract. They encourage him to find another club by telling him he won't feature for them next season. He has the choice of whether to go and look for another club or just stay at Hibs and risk being frozen out.
Yes, but will Hibs pay him any difference in wages? Sounds like they want him off the wage bill but don't really want to pay up his contract.

Congratulations to both sides for reaching the final. Both clubs must be proud of their achievements. Not many clubs can say they've reached the Scottish Cup Final.
Special mention must go to Saints for winning the trophy, for the first time. Well done and enjoy.
