Can't believe 68 posts in before Kennedy gets a mention.Big Stewart Kennedy at Forfar. Total legend
To have a keeper of his class and character playing with us for 10 seasons, how privileged were we?
He was immense, in reality far too good for the lower leagues at that time.3 -
Hard for many folk to admit, but Ernie Walker and Jim Farry as administrators of our game were far better than the recent incumbents. You would have thought there would be a rule for ‘what happens if the league season cannot be completed?’
Football blazer types fucking love rules. That Jim Farry was always quoting them. The SPFL have let themselves down here. They should have rules to cover Martian Invasion, Epidemics, World War 3, Zombie Apocalypse and the likes. I blame that Neil Doncaster. It’s probably his fault.
Farry in particular took a lot of unfair criticism I think. He genuinely seemed to care for all clubs.2 -
If we are relegated with a whimper, which looks a real possibility atm, Mr Malcolm should be nowhere near our club next season.Stuart Malcolm was always going to be a Forfar manager at some point, however, I think unfortunately it has come a few years too soon.
On a side note, I was chatting with a couple of friends of mine and we were trying to think who's under contract for Forfar next season, we came up with McCallum, Barr & Coll. Judging by that Malky has to recruit an entire new squad for our League Two campaign, which probably isn't a bad thing!1 -
In truth any managerial appointment is a risk. Replication of previous success / failure cannot be assumed, they are all a gamble.
It is also a risk to carry on with something that is obviously not working, just ask Brechin folk.0 -
Certainly giving that impression.
No injury just have a manager that is absolutely clueless.
Surely the rest of his entourage could lever a more attack minded stance from him and actually try to win games?
(Apologies if they are already trying)0 -
Can you blame them? Has there been any improvement and/or signs of better things to come?Seems like quite a few have given up already with the management team , wether we are relegated or not there will be no changes (see Bollan) so we just have to hope that Malcs & Co can turn this around somehow but there is no doubt we are in freefall atm.
I said after Jim left that we needed an experienced man in, boring pick possibly but the club decided to opt for the easy-keep fans onside option and it appears to have backfired slightly.
As our defence isn't good enough we have to focus on attacking teams to have any chance of survival, hopefully we change the set up and the we we play very quickly.
I never shouted for Bollans head and i certainly won't be shouting for Malcs...leave that to the morons to the right of the home dugout.
And btw this fan wasn't 'kept onside' with the appointment.0 -
Agreed - being relegated with a whimper is not acceptable. With Stranraer having their two games in hand at home in midweeks and us to play at home think bottom place is a real prospect for Forfar now.
Time for all at the club to raise their game, big style.

Thanks for the info, seems he's a busy boy.
Yes , he also takes the warm up before games and also does the training twice a week , while checking the stats on the players during matches and training with the monitors they wear
Most teams now have one , we employed one under Dick a few years ago0 -
Are we still employing a 'sports scientist' at the club and if so anyone know what he's contributing?

After the way they have been treated this season? I very much doubt it.Yeah I'd like to see Murray and Coupe more. Especially since it's very, very likely we'll be relegated and these are the lads that are likely to stay with us for next season.
Credit to the East Fife Ultras, nice to have some singing and drumming creating an atmosphere in what was a awful match.

How often did Tapping find a teammate with a pass today?Yep Tapping was clearly our best player - though there was very little competition - some folk must just be in the habit now of slating him.
So cagey yet again from Malcolm. He needs to find a way of getting Kirkpatrick in behind both Doris and McKenzie.

Agree though, the like for like subs weren't going to change anything.
I've had my doubts about Mr Malcolm from the outset.
Time for him to prove me wrong.0 -
Tapping, seriously?Where to start? Two mediocre teams but Forfar definitely in trouble now. Hard to see where the goals will come from. A 'better' second half with a couple of good moves but then came the 'just round around' subs. Thought Coll, McKenzie and Tapping were very good and although everyone else was clearly trying it just didn't gel. Oh dear.

We're going down aren't we...
Never like scoring against fairly ordinary opposition today.
Hard to see where the next win is coming from.
Hate being this defeatist at this stage.0 -
Harsh, but fair[emoji1]Good lord. Arbroath fans really are a bunch of horse-fucking simpletons.0 -
Fair result today, if anything the visitors showed a bit more.
Disappointing, especially the midfield second half.2 -
Correct, if we must have play offs then it should be runner up v. second bottom.

TBF Mackay seemed to be a thick c*** most of the time...Politicians really are thick c***s at times.1 -
Good hard fought win, no passengers today. Onwards and upwards.

When do we get the new manager bounce?
0 -
Right now I'd settle for a safe 8th
Stalwarts like Travis and Bain stand out as guys who didn't look happy but still gave their all for JW now appear to be back to loving wearing the shirt.
1. Amen to that brother.
2. Bain seemed out of the picture under Mr Weir, glad he's now getting a chance.

Farfirloon, any chance of a snort of what you're on?[emoji847]

Difficult to legislate for the goals we lost today.
Poor second half showing after a decent first.
Credit to Dumbarton, they were well up for it.1 -
Yes, topped off with the goal.Murray was outstanding today
First half especially much more positive play, chasing the opposition and generally up for it.
Ok, a bit of a dip second half but got to be happy with a vital 3 points.1
