  1. I'd be devastated if Garry moved on. He's consistent and versatile. He could have played more games if not for injuries, suspensions and his ability to slot in anywhere. After a good pre-season he could be a first pick, same as anyone else. McDougall dropping off and Kirkpatrick becoming a virtual ever-present illustrate this.
  2. Agreed. The moaning isn't restricted to a certain demographic, there are shitebags of all ages at the Son Siro of a Saturday.
  3. Let's get them signed up to P&B then. They can come here to vent their shite, then go to the matches with a sunny disposition. I'd love a knitted DFC jumper.
  4. I'm sick of the constant negativity in our home support. It's got to the stage where I spend most of the match cheering on Nish, regardless of how he's playing, because there are too many dicks at the games who fail to acknowledge his improvement since Kane's arrival. Support your team! I think Gils has had a good season. More functional than spectacular, but his consistency facilitates McGinn's excellent attacking play. Glad he's finally got a league goal.
  5. And Scotland qualified for consecutive World Cups!
  6. No, I think you're right. As much as we deserve our position, and 8th would be a disappointment on current form, you never know when you'll start dropping points through injury/ suspension/ crazy red cards etc. Ultimately I'd take 8th, unless it was brought on by a visible complacence/ laziness on the players' part. And I don't see that happening with this team.
  7. His distribution was invariably poor when starting an attack, regardless of whatever pressure was on him. He tended to punt it, and not necessarily towards a Sons jersey. That's not irrational criticism, that's the consensus of many who've watched (and supported) him for the last several seasons. He's a worker and improved over his time with us - if there was a 'Most Improved Player' award at the PotY I'd have given it to him in 2011/12. That's testament to his attitude and determination but it doesn't mean he was of the required standard for us.
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22603124 Motherwell have released Nicky Devlin (and Adam Ashgar).
  9. Geggan? May as well fling about some unfounded rumours.
  10. This is wonderful news. I wonder what new signings Murray has in mind, because he doesn't seem the type to fill the squad up with a few mediocre players - he's going to want to build on the excellent standard of player that he's already retained. His judgement and decisiveness so far can't be faulted. I'm actually excited for the close season. This is the best Sons have looked in all my time following them.
  11. Smith's signing is a real coup and it would be the exact same if we managed to secure Turner. Like others I think McGinn will be be moving upwards. How long is his remaining contract with St Mirren? I'd love a season-long loan but that's being overly optimistic. As much as we should be looking to improve the squad, and not look at Prunty as an automatic pick, we could do worse. He's experienced and savvy and scored a very respectable number of goals last season, especially considering the amount of appearances he made from the bench. Lister's departure aside (which I'm over already since we got Smith), we've made an excellent start to the close season. There's no doubt that the management team are swaying players to sign up who would otherwise be courting moves elsewhere. Anyone with a decent job who stays near Glasgow would be daft not to sign for the Sons right now.
  12. http://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/news/?mode=view&id=4475 I am over the moon about Scott Smith signing up. Real quality signing and undoubtedly the best left-back we've had for a good while. He's versatile, composed, reads the game well and generally performs with assuredness and maturity beyond his years - he looks like captaincy material to me. Congrats to the management for this fantastic signing. I'm delighted.
  13. I fucking love Garry Fleming. If it wasn't for his injuries he'd be up there with Lister and Turner for my PotY choice. He, Lister and maybe Shay were the only players worthy of praise during our disastrous early season. He's impressed me everywhere he's played. He might be raw but he's also very, very poised in possession. We're lucky to have him and I'd be gutted if he were to leave.
  14. I think he could be handy. Bring him off the bench with 20 minutes left and get him pinging those glorious crosses onto the miraculous heid of Jim Blister. If his strip isn't muddy by full-time tell him he's only getting 10 minutes next time. And so on.
  15. I still have some goodwill left over for Lamont from last season's winning streak. He was the catalyst for that, as far as I'm concerned. We slipped after he got injured at home to Cowden. He's not been up to scratch this season but few were, pre-Murray. If Murray thinks that Lamont will get the finger out as much as Gilhaney and MacDougall have then I'm all for taking him on. If we don't sign him then Murray obviously doesn't think he's got it in him, so cheery-bye.
  16. I saw Martin John Henry and Human Don't Be Angry at Tut's on Saturday there, following Rockness the weekend before. I don't have anything else lined up now, sadly.
  17. I watched Taken last night. Hilariously violent and intense, would have to recommend it. I was pissing myself laughing at angry Liam Neeson. For what it was, 8/10.
