Appears it's only taken 34.5 games, for someone to work us out, doesn't say a lot about the rest of the league
This is so true. It's only when Killie actually went toe to toe that their full time status started to show in terms of fitness. Possibly we all overestimated the fitness levels of the Arbroath squad due to the hybrid nature of their personnel and recruitment, and should have been running them into the ground all season rather than attempting to beat them with a possession-based game. Maybe now that their Achilles heel has been found, the play offs will be a bridge too far for them. Can see Thistle lapping them by about the 75th minute.

The quality on show was very low but it was still an entertaining and intriguing game to watch. The atmosphere was electric, which helped enormously.
I thought the second half was the first time in the 4 games between the teams that Killie matched Arbroath physically on a consistent basis. Feel they dominated us in tackling and running. Once we *actually* committed to fighting for every 50/50 we started to see more possession.

I think we really missed Donnelly when he went off. Lost our out ball and every time we cleared it, it just came straight back and we were dead on our feet for the last 10 mins. We needed someone upfront just to get a foot on the ball and give our defence a breather and a chance to organise. That was what Nouble was great for. Gaston was absolutely immense and certainly justified keeping him on despite his injury causing us problems with our own goal kicks.
Killie deserved the win and deserve the title but the manner of defeat is tough to take on the night. Over the season, we've been punished for drawing too many games at home.
I've seen a bit of criticism, particularly on twitter, about the quality of play that was on show. I'd rather watch what we saw last night than a Pep Guardiola team make 30 sideways passes in their own half tbf. For a team to punch so far above their weight like we have, it's going to be about doing the simple things well rather than doing anything complicated. It was the same with Leicester 15/16 and it was the same with Greece 2004
Arbroath are like prime Barca tika taka compared to Greece 2004. And I was in Greece from the quarters, and celebrated their bus parking and set piece robbery like my middle name was Yiannis.

Apparently, the 18.27 Glasgow to Killie train has been cancelled, in case any of you were getting it.
I'm seeing an 18.13 for Stranraer that we're planning to get but no mention of cancelled 18.27?

Few Arbroath boys will have started their half shifts already...
I teach in Dundee. Any of my wee ones who have parents turning up late for 3.15 finish...
Mad rush to the train

When do you have to leave? Have you factored in a possible trophy presentation if we do win?
That's why we decided to stay over . Need to be on the 21.57 to Glasgow in order to make the last train north. So it would mean a fast walk/jog after the game, depending on time added on. We'll also get to see my mum by staying over. We can get the 22.31 from Killie now, getting off at Stewarton Hopefully after lifting a trophy

I’m guessing they are all staying for the weekend, catching that last train will be very tight.
Only in Scotland, and they really want people to use public transport.
Aye, we're going to stay over with family as it's just about doable after the match, but only as far as Dundee and arriving at 00.38.

Getting excited. But not looking forward much to being probably the only 2 Killie fans on a train from Dundee that might be quite busy with Arbroath fans

Or you can just eventually see sense and realise you can pop up the coast 15 mins and have a fun day out....and watch your local team. Just saying
PS I know you're born into teams...
Came to Dundee Uni at 18. Born and bred Ayrshire. Lived in Stewarton ; brilliant place to grow up. Rugby Park from 4 years old. Worked in England for 4 years then back to Dundee and never left. Met my wife here and have 2 kids. Love living in Broughty Ferry, love our days in Arbroath. Hope we pump you, obvs.

I'm going to do a fess up that I will probably regret. Myself and my wee boy have been going to Arbroath every Saturday afternoon for the past 2 years as he has guitar and singing lessons. Love it. Buy the best fish the world has to offer every week. Great sweetie shop. Better Lidl than Dundee. Nice people. Including my dental hygienist lady who is lovely and a huge Arbroath fan. But get it right up you all and hopefully you're all up the road on Friday with tears running down your smokie faces. No offence, like.
And if you see a wee boy with a guitar on his back and his dad wandering to lessons this Saturday... feel free to congratulate/get it right up us too ️
Enjoy your trip everyone.

Wait. I've been doing it wrong. Diddy team thinking
"KILLIE in secret talks to nab 6 Arbroath players on pre-contracts for top 6 push. McKenna spotted in Park Hotel."

Your players hate Tam. Rift in the dressing room. Boasting about his pre-contract with Ross County. "I'm going up even if you lot don't." Allegedly.

I noticed that, thought f**k aye that’s beer garden weather then looked at the wind
18 gusting up to 35mph. Wtf
Unlike where we live, from the Ferry north to Arbroath, it's not coming in off the North Sea so it's still 11 degrees . It'll feel like a hairdryer on low

Purchased tickets when they went on sale, but have to say it's a bit of a shambles that they have taken them off sale on a temporary basis - this might actually cost them sales.
Biggest games in decades for both clubs and 3 days before the match customers can't buy tickets - wonder what went wrong there ?
How is everyone getting through to the match - bus, train or car ?
Leaning towards getting the train and feeling very good about this match.
C'mon the 'broath - we can do this.
Live in Broughty Ferry. Best we can do is getting back to Dundee at 00.38. Also means quick out the ground for a train to Glasgow at 21.57. The next one at half ten gets in to Glasgow too late for that last train north. Going to crash with the wee man at my mum's hoose. And no, you can't.

It was the 'plucky' remark I've picked on twice on this thread.
As I recall Arbroath have beaten you twice this season, a plucky fluke?
Twice.
Well, they better not be plucking thinking about doing it again.

Which makes it even more bizarre.
I know! The excitement of the title race is honestly getting to me. To be within touching distance of being champions is quite tense
Especially as we were dead and buried with no chance of a play off spot 3 weeks ago and now we've turned it around to narrowly lead the plucky hybrid squad! It's unbelievable, really.

Very Rangersy.
Certainly coming from a fan of a team featuring the Roman Catholic sign of benediction on their badge, it is.

Just as well you booked restaurants, the city was heaving this afternoon, looks like many have come home for an Easter family visit, plus the campers arriving en masse.
Hearing on Kickback that quite a few families have arrived already - making this their Easter break for the school holidays. Same for us - wee trip to Inverness for 2 nights following similar in Edinburgh last week. ICT and the whole town seeing the value of the blue and white pound this week. It's nice to be able to help struggling teams and their communities.

Here we go again with plucky.
It's the word used by sports journo hacks to describe a St Kilda type team in the Scottish Cup.
Arbroath in the games we played them could never be described as plucky fer fecks sake., determined and hard working is more to the point.
But if it eases yer worry and nervousness over them......................................................................................................................................................
I think you're underestimating the importance of the word 'hybrid' in this jibe. Thanks for the advice on getting to the game.

Like Sandy says it will depend on the age of the wee man. I'd certainly allow for about 30 minutes walk from the town centre anyway. If you do walk the Longman Road / Henderson Drive option is probably the best as it avoids crossing the A9 but that adds a wee bit of time onto your journey as you'll be walking away from the stand you will be in. The ICT Supporters Club on Greig Street runs a bus to the game and straight back after for about £4 IIRC. A taxi will be probably something like £5 or £6 each way and you can get them on Academy Street by The Filling Station restaurant.
Unlike Sandy however I hope you have a shite timeThanks for the advice. I can understand you hoping we have a shite time. The nice lady who sold me out tickets was a bit more like Sandy. Even said at the end that she hoped we enjoyed the game . Looking forward to the trip, the occasion, the food ( we've booked a couple of restaurants- Nar and Prime) and fingers crossed we are at least no worse off by the time Arbroath v Queens is finished. That would mean a point against Arbroath next week would see us as champions.

Making a weekend of it with wife and kids. Taking wee boy to the game while the girls relax at the hotel. If walking from the city centre, what are we looking at to get to the stadium? Half an hour? Via Longman Road then Henderson Drive through what looks like an industrial estate? Or taxi if available? TIA for any heads up.

Killie win at Morton, the title is done
Not if Arbroath can win at Thistle. Even if Arbroath came to Killie 6 behind, it'd still be all to play for with the prospect of taking it to the last day.

Thistle May underestimate the fitness and ability of Arbroath by falling for the 'part time' myth emanating from the hybrid club.

Are Arbroath at home in the second leg of the play off on Sunday 15th May? Ahead of a potential play off on the following Friday/Monday? Quite fancy attending. Your away end looked fun and we've met some decent Arbroath fans over the last few days. I'm teasing on the other thread but I'm hoping your hybrid squad can do the business
