I'm quite aware that many clubs will have a larger budget than Dumbarton for player recruitment. That's fine, that's reality
What's frustrating is other clubs getting ahead by spending beyond their means. How do you know it’s beyond means?

Friendly away to Queen of the South Tuesday 25th June.

I don’t know what’s been done in terms of commercial revenue, sponsorship etc. We did earn a fair bit from the Scottish cup last season, I estimated around 70k but I don’t know how much was used in January.
We do have a Clyde fan putting money in, again amounts are unknown. His funding is based on the club moving back to Glasgow at some point, and obviously go up the leagues if possible.

He played in a Clyde fans v fans game a good few years back
@BullyWeeStonehouse still claims to have been the best player in that game.

Clyde will be shopping for a much higher quality of player than Blair Malcolm, I promise you that. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve offered Matty Shiels 6 ton a week.
Don’t know about 6 ton a week, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if we were in for him. Assume he’s improved a fair bit since his loan with us in 2020.

Callum Wilson and Blair Malcolm away
https://dumbartonfootballclub.com/further-squad-movements/
I think this is probably the right move for all parties. Blair Malcolm is a good League Two player; he's got his limitations (ie passing) but his energy, aggression and defensive game mean he'll be an asset for pretty much anyone at that level. I can see him ending up somewhere like Clyde or Stirling Albion and being a useful squad player. Just one who maybe would be a bit exposed at a higher level.
I feel for Callum Wilson. There's a good player in there, but having spent the best part of a year on the sidelines he's someone who needs regular gametime. He's an absolutely lovely lad and maybe a step back to Albion Rovers or the like to get 40 games under his belt next season would help him get back into the SPFL. He's shown he's a capable League Two player, and possibly a League One player, but we're not in the position to give him two or three months to get back up to speed with regular, competitive games.
Good luck to both guys. Malcolm did us a real turn last year, especially earlier in the season, and I'm sure Wilson would've done if he hadn't kept breaking down.
I’m sure I read every summer he’s available that Blair Malcolm is a Clyde fan. We’re short on the left hand side just now, so wouldn’t be that surprised.

Will be sure to come onto this thread if things aren’t going well and everyone wants Faz out again.
At least we still have Forfar in league 2 for more mind losing over Ray.

Until we get venues & fixture dates things are less clear, but good to have some different teams in our group.
You should be away to St Johnstone and Alloa, home to Morton and Brechin I think if it’s the same format as previous years.

The league cup is better than playing as many meaningless friendlies, and a decent money spinner at our level.

Motherwell, Partick, Montrose and Edinburgh City, home game against either Motherwell or Partick a decent earner.

Leitch is from Motherwell area I believe so every chance he might want a move closer to home.

Since there’s nothing else going on, my ideal league cup group would be hibs, Ayr, Queen of the south and Annan.

Cedric has just won Player of the Year at West Brom, and is expected to knock back a contract offer that makes him the highest payed player at the club….to sign for an EPL side…….I wonder what Steve is up to these days?
His agent if he’s got any sense!

It is a nonsense that the top 5 highlands clubs are in, but teams in the bottom half of the lowland get in instead of the top clubs in that league. Old pals act going on there.

Any chat of Flynn Duffy going back to you? We were linked with him in January so wonder if we are both back in for him.
What is he like? Don’t think I’ve actually seen him.
