Absolute shite. Jones wins the ball and the keeper has taken him out. Aye, he's taken a sore one but it doesn't change the fact it was a clear foul.

Doesn't matter whether Jones wins the ball, his foot is high and he catches the Keeper in the neck with his studs. Hence the high boot rule indicates a foul by Jones.

A high boot call results in a yellow card warning being issued. In some cases, if the boot is raised to head level or if the studs on the bottom of the boot are exposed, players can received a red card and be ejected from the game.

  2. !st penalty could be included in a Youtube compliation of poor referee decisions or even an instructional video for referees on how not to interpret the rules of the game.

Jones goes in with a high boot and follows through catching the keeper in the neck with his studs, high boot rule applies and that should be a free kick to Stranraer and either a yellow or red card for Jones.

Can someone explain the whole persistence of this "aggyball"  term without using the word cringe?

Indeed, particularly considering the general use of such terminology is to vilify the football on display. Also considering the new manager was only in charge for 3 games, using the same players as the previous management, it is difficult to ascertain exactly what the term is referring to.

Some more good news is that Matty Grant has signed up for another year.

I'd be very surprised if our manager's contract is any different to the majority (if not all) of part time clubs. This season has seen six of of ten L2 managers given the sack in a division that isn't awash with money. If Albion Rovers and Stranraer can afford to sack their manager, so can we. If he's still here next season, it's because the board want him to stay.

TBF Hamill was sacked with only 3 games to go in the season so there wouldn't have been much in the way of compensation, also it was done in a more face saving 'leaving by mutual consent' way. His contract was up at the end of the season anyway so no contract extension issues to deal with.
