Let's hope so and Cooper deserves a shot too, he's canavaro compared to that dumpling Hanley lol
Cannavaro is too small to ever make it at a decent level. Probably got Scottish genes.
Him, Moore, and Baresi.

We await 1 of the kids currently getting 1st team football to kick on certainly a few more prospects than we've had in a while. Also today should put to bed any pish talk that Tierney at celtic is anywhere near as good as robertson he's been immense against city today night and day between the 2. If Tierney wants to fulfill his potential then he needs to move simple as that.
No comment on Tierney, but hearing Anfield sing Robertson's name for a few minutes is something pretty special. He's making some impact

World Class = would get a game for any team in the world.
OR
Be part of a World 22.
I'd agree with the post above regarding Sky Sports and muppet pundits who like to describe players like Jamie Vardy as 'World Class'.
We've definitely had a few - can't see how we didn't given the number of teams we've had making European Cup semi finals and short listed in World Player of the Year, but it's certainly been some time since we had our last one.
The definition should now be even harder to achieve given the professionalisation of leagues throughout the world, in particular Eastern Europe. I'd argue even the English only have two that you would even consider (Kane and Alli) but neither are currently in the top 5 in the world for their position

Blackpool have got rid of him, back to Chelsea

It's hard to express how little I am surprised by this development.
Clearly no work ethic, passion or commitment to any side. What an absolute waste of talent.

Played the last ten minutes at Wolves and the last six or so at Watford.
Beats his time at OFI already...

Agree totally re putting faith in the very best young players. I always wonder what the squad/team would have been like now had the last batch of youth - Gordon, Fletcher and McFadden (expect to split opinion with this one) - not been ravaged by injury/illness. All three would surely have been on 80 caps by now, providing the squad with a much-needed spine of experience and consistency.
Yeah, that's what I'd have thought. Fletcher has 66 caps. How many games has he missed in the last 3 to 4 years? It must easily be in the mid-to-high 20s.
Gordon must have missed even more...!
I'd like to think that a player like Gauld and Robertson could do our version of Ashley Cole and make it to 100 caps. Though it would be helpful if we could qualify for something - 4/6 extra games every 2 years (including warm up friendlies) is 30 caps!

We're looking to bring one 19-year old into the team, not a squad of them.
He's likely the future of our team - hopefully alongside Jack Harper. Bring him into the squad, alongside Stuart Armstrong and let him have some game time either again NI or Gibraltar.
Waiting another few years is no help to either party.

Fantastic nutmeg in the build up to the 3rd goal. Looked assured and fast.
When have we had a player like that before?
Starting to feel quite positive about a few youngsters coming through. Just need Harper to make the Madrid B team now.

Thought it was League Cup?
Yeah, I missed out Cup. Oooops

This report has him down as Man of the Match. Not bad for a fairly serious league tie.

it appears his incredibly productive stint on a Greek beach has come to an end.
So, who is he going to upset in 2015?

Anyone know why he's only played one game for OFI in the 3 months he's been there?
Injured? AWOL? Useless?

Arsenal would make most sense. At this point I already rate Robertson over Gibbs - just has a bit to learn defensively.

I tend not to be too concerned with how our u16s are playing as it's not a particularly competitive age group across Europe and we have hundreds of similar players.
u17s, u19s and u21s are far more important and the teams come from a much smaller pool of clearly superior players.

The whole team were exposed defensively last night. Whittaker on the opposite flank offered precisely nothing and couldn't even play a square pass.
He's by a distance our more promising young player and certainly our most consistent attacking outlet.

Results against the bottom side don't count in the comparison of the best 3rd placed sides, so we got through by having 2 points from our matches against the top two.
Ah, that would make perfect sense.

The U19s ended up making it through this round as the best 3rd placed side despite not winning a single game.
I saw that this morning. I'd checked the other groups and there were a few 3rd placed teams on 4 points from other groups, so it baffles me how they've ended up going through.
Either way I'll take it. We were easily the best side in our group, just threw away stupid goals.

I'd rather Keane was playing against us than Long. Pace is always our achilles' heel.
Anyone who plays in the MLS is a spent force.

Miller would have missed it as well.

Some goal.
Shame our u19s are developing consistency with the senior side's inability to comfortably see out games.
Threw away a 2-goal lead against Finland, a lead against Norway and somehow conspired to draw 0-0 with Lithuania.

He's on for the last 20 minutes.
0-0 still. Very poor game.

From what I've been able to see on the terrible Lithuanian TV link it's been a pretty poor game.
Why, when our centre backs are under absolutely no pressure at all, are they playing 60-yard long balls?? Is Ricky Sbragia Gary Caldwell in disguise?
Really quite unimpressed. Thought we had got past that.

Maybe he wasn't fit. Maybe they were saving him for another game. Maybe he's not actually very good. It's pretty hard to speculate on a guy who has not played a single game of senior football in his life, and who most posters on here will only have seen playing for less than two hours of football.
Most of the rest of the team haven't played any senior football either - yet Harper has been the shining light in the Real Madrid u19 Champions League team.
Hasn't started. Half time it's 0-0. We'll see if he gets on.

Andy Robertson: Scotland Captain
in Tartan Army Ramblings

Pretty certain that was mentioned in Sportsound. Definitely the sign of a captain.
Not sure there are any other standout options at the moment. So few caps and little experience, Andy - despite his age - has far more experience than many others who’ve been around a lot longer.
