  1. Any diddy team winning the league has to start by being the best of the diddies. By quite a bit. Don't lose to the other teams and it comes down how you do against the OF. A good team could push the OF but not if they're losing games to  Hamilton, Ross County and whoever else.

Drop less points against the diddies, have a couple of good results against the OF and you've given yourself a chance.

Well, something made them change their mind.  Maybe the ref told them he didn’t fancy the long trek to Perth from whichever hovel in Strathclyde/Lanarkshire/ Renfrewshire/ Ayrshire * he came from.

But it seemed an awful co-incidence that the venue was changed after St Mirren made it clear they weren’t happy with Muirton.

    * delete as appropriate

St Mirren did ask for it to be changed. Not because of the distance but because of the capacity at Muirton at that time. It was 15k and our chairman didn't think it was large enough. He expected St Mirren, and definitely Aberdeen, to bring more than 7500 fans each. The request was for a ground with a larger capacity, it was the SFA that chose Parkhead. Th e attendance was about 18k, so the move didn't get the expected crowd.

  3. The Tribunal made the following Findingsof Law:

3 The sums advanced to the employees of the Appellants by way of loan interms of the relative loan documents, were made in pursuance of discretionary powersand remain recoverable and represent debts on their estates.

There are no taxes due on a loan.

Absolutely correct. The liquidator will go after the players (and others) for the total amount of 'loans' they received. They can ask for every penny to be 'repaid'. A whole new can of worms. More interesting days ahead.

  4. Regarding the stripping of titles. I persoanlly would like to see the teams cheated out of winning finals replacing Rangers (IL), so Ayr awarded the 2002 league cup, St. Mirren the 2009 league cup, QOS the 2008 Scottish Cup, etc.

However the league cup apart this will pose innumerable problems to the SFA as those who finished third in the SPL (and should have finished second) could have a case against the SFA for compensation as the SFA clearly did not do enough to regulate Rangers (IL) against their financial doping (allegedly).

The league cup is a simpler matter as it does not come with a European place attatched and should be relativly easy to swap the finalist names and award them a 3-0 victory.

I agree that it is a hollow victory for most, but for the likes of Ayr and QOS, this would be our last and only chance of winning a national trophy. To have it cheated from us does not sit easily with me.

We can just say that the trophies (14, I think between 2000-2009) are unawarded but the Orcs will just lay claim to them anyway.

Let the history books show that the teams cheated in finals were bumped up in exactly the same way that athletes are if the winner of a medal has been found to have cheated.

Anything else will be a sop to the fantasists.

Leaving it as 'unawarded' just leaves a space for them to claim the honour. Stripping the title and awarding it to the runners up makes them official, cheating LOSERS. It's not a satisfactory way of doing it as they cheated every team they played on their way to the trophies, but awarding it to another team helps remove their claim.

I would rather see it recorded that they lost the titles to other teams (because of cheating) rather than they were just stripped of the title. A definite 'You Lost'.

  5. Stripping titles.

I know this has been discussed before but adding my view.

Initially I thought stripping titles from Rangers was enough. I didnt think the titles should then be awarded to the runners up. Being told St Mirren had now won the league cup in 2010 would be completely flat.

However, given the attitude from Rangers fans that they will continue to claim their 'victories', I've now had a change of mind. All cups should be awarded to the runners up as a 3-0 result. The re-written league tables should show Rangers with a 30 points deduction for cheating. Removing their titles isnt enough, they should be seen as having 'lost' them. Show them as losers in every competition they cheated in. Record them as losers in the history books for ever.

This would be far more embarrassing and far more humiliating for them. A far more just punishment.

  6. Maybe I've just missed something here and I'm about to be whooshed... but how can Beith say that's their first-ever match under their new name? They've friendlies the previous week and play Brechin the Saturday prior in RCC?

I had the first game as being v Hawick on Saturday 21st. Going over to buy some programmes for ebay.

Still not sure if I should go to the actual game or not. Goes against my principles but the wind ups could be enjoyable. I could be the first fan ever to abuse them. (in person)Tempting......

  7. They play Hawick Royal Albert on Saturday then Arniston Rangers on Tuesday and Kelty Hearts on Wednesday, so they'll have got match practice in before facing Brechin.

Are they registered yet to allow them to play friendlies?

Considering going over to Hawick. Not to watch the game, just to buy up some programmes and sell them on ebay.

If thats their first ever game then it should be worth a punt. All profits go to attending some SFL matches next season.

  8. If Cockwomble and his pals had just followed the accepted rules then this could all have been sorted weeks ago. New club sevco could easily have applied and been accepted into div 3 long ago. And I think most fans would have accepted that.

Now, thanks to all of his bawbaggery, there's a reasonable chance that they wont be playing anywhere next season. The man that may have finally killed off senior football in Govan is Cockwomble himself.

That would be such a fitting epitaph to his career.

  9. After the SPL vote I was happily looking forward to the new season. More than I have for a while.

The whole 'sevco to SFL1' debacle then had me going in the opposite direction. Possibly turning my back on Scottish football for ever.

Now I am starting to feel optimistic again. Not quite as excited as I had been but getting there.

Just have a wee niggle about what crap will be tried next.

  10. Elgin statement

"The Directors of Elgin City Football Club have continued to discuss the present crisis facing Scottish Football and have carefully weighed up all the possible scenarios and their outcomes both for Scottish Football and Elgin City FC as a viable club.

The club have reached the decision that it cannot support the proposal for Rangers Newco to be directly admitted to Division 1 but will support entry to SFL Division 3 in season 2012 / 2013. The Board thanks the supporters and other interested parties who took time to express their views to the Club during this testing time for the future of our game."

  11. honestyinsport web page has voting as following.

    NO

    Dunfermline

    Morton

    Raith Rovers

    Annan

    Berwick

    Clyde

    Peterhead

    Stranraer

    Arbroath

    East Fife

    Cowdenbeath

    POSSIBLE NO

    Stirling Albion

    Ayr

    Falkirk

    Hamilton

    Livingston

    Partick Thistle

That's 11 No's plus 6 possible No's. I would expect most of the possibles to be No but there is still room for late bribing and bullying.

With 2 abstentions the proposals need 15 votes to proceed. (Dont know what happens in a 14-14 tie. Is there a casting vote by Longmuir?)

  12. I can understand the angry reaction but, consistently, this has been a story where its foolish to react emotionally and on the spur of the moment. Rather than being the death knell of the game, I can see this move 1. accelerating the end of the SPL as a separate body, having been shown to be thoroughly corrupt and lacking in any kind of credibility and 2. making it far more difficult for Sevco to win election to Division 3 when that comes around. Just as their taking of the SFA to the court of session was a major factor in their losing of support amongst fellow SPL chairmen, so this crude and clumsy attempt at coercion may well sink their ambitions to re-start in SFL 3. Blackmailing an organisation whom you are attempting to join is hardly a risk-free strategy.

    I like your thinking. :D

    Another move that backfires. Excellent.
