Yes, mate. Having completely changed my plans when the draw was made me and the boy are going over for the last group game only.

Birmingham to Stuttgart via Frankfurt. 21st-24th. Train from Frankfurt airport to Stuttgart Central included in the flight ticket from Lufthansa.

Staying in a place called Renningen for the 3 nights, 20 mins direct train to Stuttgart.

Just over £500, hand luggage only. Will obviously drive to Birmingham from Greenock.

Thanks, appreciate the reply. I’ve been looking at possibly flying to Strasbourg or Zurich from Glasgow, Birmingham or Manchester which I can get for just over £200 then getting the train from there to Stuttgart.

  2. Is there anyone only travelling over for the Hungary game? If we had qualified for France 2016, I would be over for as long as were in the tournament but now mid 30s and 2 young kids complicates things.

I’ve got a ticket for the Hungary game. Just trying to keep travel and accommodation as cheap as possible. I don’t want to miss out on experiencing this.

  3. Has anyone had experience with CBT? I've had issues with my mental health, particularly in the past year and have been offered medication but went down the CBT route. I've had 6 therapy sessions and have found it very helpful and can feel a big difference.

First time online in months and therefore this notification. Steve Clarke has still achieved less than Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland have in the last 10 years in terms of best tournament result, the only home nation not to reach last 16 of the euros. We’ve still only qualified for one tournament where we monumentally shit the bed. We then monumentally shit the bed in the World Cup playoff at home. Which part of that do you disagree with? If the end goal is reaching and doing well in major tournaments then it’s par at best

It’s not really fair to compare Steve Clarke’s 3 years in charge to the last 10 years of Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The SNP will not want a GE in the near future. Different reasons....it would take place before the Supreme Court decision was known. As suggested, there would be a significant upswing in Labour votes in Scotland, due to the prospect of a Lab govt. Result could end up in a (near future GE) something like the SNP on 35-40 seats, Labour on 12-14, Lib Dems 4 or 5, and the Tories probably 0. Current polling suggests that Labour would win pretty much every seat in Glasgow for instance.

Does that give the SNP a mandate to negotiate Independence, as they have still won the most number of seats? (they wouldn't get anywhere near 50% of the vote).

So, that could be the outcome of a GE in the next few months.

Alternative for them, (if the Supreme Court says no), is hope that the Tories hold out for another 2 years, enter the 2024 GE with a single policy, and take their chances.

Congratulations to Clarke for the most recent result. He's a complete rollercoaster of a manager. And the last two summers have been horrific but everytime he is under pressure he comes up with a big result. And round and round we go. At least mctominay is back in midfield and he's changed away from that awful formation

The last 2 Summers have been disappointing, not horrific. At least we were in the position for them to be disappointing with our last qualification in 1998 and our last play off in 2003.

The increase in excess deaths since the start of the latest booster campaign continues

    Latest ONS figures today

The number of deaths registered in the UK in the week ending 24 June 2022 (Week 25) was 12,278, which was 15.9 % above the five-year average (1,682 excess deaths); of these deaths, 346 involved COVID-19

This is the greatest health disaster in history and it’s entirely man made

Do excess deaths not fluctuate all of the time? That is why they work out a five year average.

  8. Enjoy reading this thread as I’ve been meaning to stop drinking for some time now. I can go weeks without a drink and can have only 2 or 3 drinks in the house but as soon as I go a night out with my mates, I end up a mess. I always blackout and can barely remember anything after the first few drinks.

Promised myself this year wouldn’t be like that but arranged a night out with my mates a couple of weeks ago. I said to myself I would have some non alcoholic beers but ended up pished. Was working the next day and had a horrible hangover. I’m not usually one to feel depressed except after a big night out.

I’ve decided to stop for February then take it from there. It’s not worth it anymore and I’ve stopped enjoying it.  I’ve got 2 young kids now and they are my priority. I’ve also got a job with a lot of responsibility that I’m good at and want to progress in.

Rather bewildering interview with that GP on BBC Breakfast there.

Basically boiled down to we should be keeping vaccine passports and masks for now because:

    -They are easy

-People have gotten used to them

    -People just feel safer

I've no specific argument against each point as all are somewhat true (except masks during an entire day's work), but it spectacularly misses the point about why people would like to see them gone, and falls way short of the the argument that should be required to support maintaining emergency measures.

It misses the point that facial expressions are very important for social interaction therefore masks should never be normalised.

  10. I don't disagree with what you say and I myself am getting increasingly scunnered with them by the day, however a quick glance at the alternative shows you a bumbling idiot who's had no plan throughout, changes his policies on a weekly basis, sleaze story after sleaze story, corruption within the highest echelons of the Conservative party and cabinet is rife and their record on "deaths" not exactly a beacon of shining light to be held up high against our peers.
Over and above this, we have their "pingdemic" shambles coupled with the fallout of Brexit which is now coming home to roost in terms of staff shortages for many sectors and the complete break down of supply chains. We could also mention the shambles they've made of NI to the list, so all in all it's maybe better the Devil you know.....

Some might say better the Devi you know….
  11. I notice when the death figures are low there’s lots of comments on here, but none today when we’ve had the highest daily figure of since March.

13 still seems pretty low to me in a country of 5.5 million. Hospital numbers down and ‘case’ numbers coming down as well.
  12. It doesn't make a huge difference and shouldn't slow down easing of restrictions but am a bit disappointed by the number of fully vaccinated people I know who have since caught covid and been unwell (just general flu type symptoms).

This sounds absolutely fine to me.
  13. 270 new cases of COVID-19 reported
25,093 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
    1.2% of these were positive
1 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
4 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 (down from 6)
63 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 (down from 65)
2,968,169 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 1,551,339 have received their second dose

4 folk in intensive care. This is basically over now.
  14. As if you needed additional reasons to go nowhere near fucking Blackpool. jose.png&key=36a9cf2880030028fa3707f8ec7045350392a53b9d866f3f23b238b220c17437

Blackpool plans testing scheme for hotel guests

Visitors to Blackpool could be asked to take Covid tests at their hotels in a bid to keep outbreaks at bay once the seaside town fully reopens.

The town's council is in talks with local hospitality businesses about rolling out the voluntary tests.

Concerns about the impact of an influx of tourists on case numbers were raised at the authority's audit committee.

The town has often suffered high infection rates throughout the pandemic.

Why would you take a voluntary test when you are on holiday and run the risk of having to self isolate? Seems like another ridiculous plan.

    This is a concern.
Presumably vaccinations, hospitalisations, number in ICU in Moray are on a par with the rest of the country. But here we are already getting freaked out at an upturn in infection numbers.
Fast forward a couple of months when infections across Scotland will no doubt be higher than they are at present, presumably the calls for going up the levels (perhaps even for Lockdown #3) will become pretty loud.

It says in this report that many of the cases are asymptomatic so some jobs in Moray will not be allowed to get started again because people are not feeling unwell, hospitals are not overwhelmed and people are not dying. Absolute headcases.
  16. When the daily briefings were on, these things were asked (in some cases as hypotheticals because we hadn’t yet reached this point).
Nicola Sturgeon almost always answered with words along the lines of “I make no apologies for keeping people safe”.  It’s the sort of emotive language that’s designed to prevent argument and debate.

A major issue with the daily briefings was that the journalists were allowed one question then they moved on. There was no debate. The politician or advisors answer was final and we were supposed to take that as gospel.
