Are you the Morton weirdo who managed to make an arse of it on Twitter yesterday and ended up tagging Oakley in tweets?

If so I’d be in hiding for a few days if I were you.

Not guilty. Anyway I would imagine George gets Kudos Sports Management to write his tweets for him now given he has finally made it at little Ayr.

Relatively pleased with that. It’s not the most glamorous signing but he’s a known quantity at this level.

Yes. It’s known that after a good start to the season and rumoured interest from other parties he was pretty useless creatively for the last six months. Could train a monkey to do what he was doing. Well suited.

On the subject of Mr Graham, thought I'd mention how great a job he did this season. It's one thing to be the league's top goalscorer, but some of his defending in the playoffs was excellent and he was like an assistant manager out there, always making sure everyone was in the right place at set pieces and throw ins. There's so much more to him than simply scoring against every other team in the division.

Also like missing a last minute sitter that would have sworded Raith Rovers.

That news about the offer for Strapp being less than what he was on has annoyed a lot of the fanbase, a kick in the baws if you will, can only think it's maybe due to the fact he is a bit injury prone, still tho he's worth the gamble. The club announced a decent profit on what we made the season before, that profit that was announced publicly to the fans was on the assumption we would finish 8th, very strange that we would offer possibly our best player at the club a new contact on reduced terms when we know fine well he's never going to accept it. We can only assume Dougie already has a new LB lined up, if not it's a bit alarming, Dale might need to stick out another heart warming video.

No more videos please. There is a certain irony in a chubby lad talking about fitness.

Ok, but the logic of what you said ('Imrie has someone lined up') implies that's the player Imrie wants... what happens to that if Strapp then

I got the impression from what Dale said that he was tasked with undertaking the negotiations based on Imrie’s wish list. The whole point of this process is offer, rejection counter offer etc so it makes no sense to just chuck your toys out of the pram after the initial offer which what is being implied with Strapp. Crawford and Muirhead clearly had their new clubs lined up well before Morton began this years process but I doubt Oakley would have committed to dross like Ayr at this stage of negotiations.

There must be other forms of creative remuneration packages such as leased vehicles we could provide to sway a deal particularly if we are putting the Welsh guy up in accommodation. Presumably Baird is getting something for his image rights in regard to his modelling of the new kit etc.  Can’t see Gorgeous George making much from modelling Ayr tat.

Abandoned your ludicrous assertion that expenditure is funded by borrowing I see - very wise.

Unfortunately you seem to have selected another ridiculous hill to die on I’m afraid.

Creditors due after more than a year are long term debts - that’s why they are in that section of the balance sheet - so the pie stall doesn’t need to be raised to pay for them at all at this point. The reality is long term debt tends to be refinanced in most instances although if you’d read the notes to our accounts (Note 7 to make it easy for you) you’d have seen nearly all ours is from our directors and former directors so more than likely to be written off if past performance from these same individuals is followed.

Short term debts tend to be satisfied by short term assets over the course of the period of the accounts - they are revolving assets and liabilities by nature so again unlikely to be much burden if any to the pie stall. You will of course have seen from Note 6 this time that almost half of our short term debts relate to Deferred Income so will be extinguished by the provision of the service they relate to rather than requiring any cash from us.

You clearly don’t know what you are talking about here so suggest you draw a line under this and move on.

Oh dear. You seem to miss more points than Sean McGinty misses tackles. Chucking a few pejorative comments into a jumbled mess of pseudo babble doesn’t make an argument.. Bottom line little Ayr has little  in the way of assets to fund a spending spree.. if you choose to live beyond your means then you are reliant on external benefactors something which always turns to shit at some point down the line. Happy  to accept you fundamentally disagree with all of this so please jog along and cease to stink out this thread,

Any football club that is using borrowing to cover its expenditure won’t be around for very long. In the world of Scottish football expenditure should be funded by income through season tickets/pay at the gate, hospitality, sponsorship, club shop, advertising, lotteries, player funds, tv revenue, prize money, pitch hire etc

I knew the concept of finance might be limited in Greenock but surprised it’s been quite this alien.

As at June 2023 creditors £575k payable in less than a year, other creditors due after more than a year £559k. Paying them off from the profits of the pie stall are you?

  8. 14 hours ago, Frosty said:

Er no. I suspected you didn’t know what you were talking about with your other comment about funding needing to be through the raising of equity otherwise you would be creating a creditor but you’ve now removed any doubt.

The result of any outflows of cash would only impact the balance sheet after any corresponding inflows of cash as dealt with in the cash flow statement so to suggest that spending more than the amount of our current net worth would mean we are technically insolvent is wrong.

And in what form does the inflow of cash take if not borrowing? You’re not seriously suggesting you are going to attract more paying punters to serve the dross you let serve up.

I remember similar being said last season before McGeady signed who arguably came with a better back ground.  It's good to read different opinions on our signings as the last few seasons have shown they don't all work out

Well if you had looked at Oakley’s background you would see he is approaching 29, has played less than 200 games to any standard and has scored around 40 career goals. Hardly prolific and  don’t forget that when you saw him live he was up against Paddy McGinty and his fellow goats. Buyer beware.

You're embarrassing yourself re Crawford. Any morton supporter who says they aren't at the very least disappointed that he's left is talking shite. He was great for us and one of the first names on the team sheet for a multitude of reasons.

    .

Exactly what part did he play in creating a cohesive attacking unit and how many goals exactly did anyone other than out three central defenders, Crawford and Oakley score in the last six months? Crawford might  be fine if you want the same old sterile shite I suppose, I prefer something rather more positive.

Someone on the Morton forum saying Crawford has signed a two year deal with us. They're not going to be too happy if it's true and Oakley signs also.

Hardly. You could train a monkey to do what Crawford did for the back end of last season and the monkey could probably do it better. Oakley is a better bet but he has been around a while and not done much until Imrie took him in hand. No doubt though Graham can coach him on how to be a complete twat

  12. Whilst the shitfest continues our new chairman is busying away creating a challenging but achievable strategy vision. He states that we currently have talented and hard working staff across all departments. Hopefully his nickname isn’t Nero.

Our offer should be competitive and attractive football. Instead we seem to have a budget aimed solely to try to finish above the bottom two using hoof ball and rotational fouling. We have a paper thin small squad with insufficient defenders, an unbalanced midfield lacking in pace and creativity and SFA in the way of emerging prospects. It’s a disgrace that we cannot come close to having a complete bench. If we cannot compete with the likes of Arbroath against whom our record is appalling wtf is the point of going through this angst year after year. Of course Dougie’s splash the cash approach isn’t the answer either but neither is a zero risk one.

The size and quality of the current squad renders us uncompetitive in this league and certainly not what we need in the seaside league.  Better to bite the bullet now and have the Dad’s Army guys depart by mutual agreement and bring in some younger part-timers until the vision is complete.
