Your development team is no better than boys club football, there is a step up to be made.

Longworth is a much better option with a proven track record at this level

The development league either east, west or elite is all subjective as the teams chop and change each week as some teams play there full allocation of over age players and  a keeper ,5 first team boys and keeper against 17 or 18 year old boys their is  only going to be one winner

Alloa do have a very young development team and I have seen a lot of them this season and watched them beat Dundee 3-1 who are mostly full time

As I said if they are up against an older team they will struggle when I have seen them

Only me opinion but the most consistent out of the fringe players is Lewis Wilson in the development  squad and he  nevers gets a start for Alloa ,far better than Hynd,Hogie,Martin.

Jack has seen him over the past 8 weeks so he must be happy with his level of fitness . He might get a full 90 mins Monday nite vs Albion Rovers at home

Alloa won 3-1 ....fairly comfortable result and should have scored more

Greene and Martin had Albion defenders on toast at times ...what I would call good old fashioned wingers running at defenders and causing havoc

Regarding centre halfs both Allison and Crumlish worked really well winning everything in the air and spreading balls about from the back ,not scared of a tackle and doubled up well on long balls over the top  covering each other ....Albion strikers never got a look in

Wilson ,Hoggan & Hynde played well especially Hynde  covering every blade of grass and scoring 2 I think

  3. Good result for Alloa u20s against a full strength Dundee u20s last night winning 3-1

Goals from Lewis Wilson, Scott Hynd and a cracker from Adam Martin

Defence was solid all night as well

Best part of the night was Paul Hartley and staff going tonto in the middle of park after game with the squad must have had them there a good 20 mins after game finished

  4. Oban Tourny

    Alloa u20s 1 Hearts 20s 1

    Alloa 0 Oban Saints 2

    Aloa 0 Dundee Utd 20s 2

    Alloa 0 Hamilton Accies 20s 2

Lewis Wilson only one from 1st team I noticed,Alloa had a lot of youngs boys in team against full time boys but held their own most games and should have beaten hearts in first game

Good pre season work out for all teams with teams playing 3 of the  4 x 40 min games on the bounce so it was fairly demanding for players

Alloa 2 centre halves were solid and wilson played well and Adam Martin up front

  5. I'm not sure Nade would be out of your price range if we can afford him. It seems he's leaving us as he wants to go back full-time as opposed to cash but that could just be paper talk.

Dunno if true but heard from a boy in now defunct u20s first team that Nade was on £1600 a game

  6. Richie Salveta leaves Head of YDI post - http://www.dumbartonfootballclub.com/news/?mode=view&id=2450

Didn't realise he'd been with us for as long as 9 seasons, seemed well liked at the club so a bit disappointing that he's moving on but good luck to him.

Is he not leaving as DUFC  have gave up their development  team for next season and he was a coach ?

Don't think its a coincidence that the guy who has been head of youth leaves after 9 years  once your  reserves get binned

  7. Development league teams are not all boys playing at same age .....they can play 5 or 6 overage first team players and a keeper

Pro youth has always been a pyramid system with the old firm and Hamilton at the top for the best players and when crunch time comes from the jump from 17s to full time the boys who are binned get picked up by everybody else

  8. Preparing on the duffle for League 1 so thought I'd stick this on here as well...

    Keep-

    - Scott Gallacher

    - David Crawford (meh)

    - Finnie

    - Marr

    - Hill

    - Hamilton

    - Holmes

    - Hetherington

    - Megginson

    - Layne

    Release-

    - Williams

    - Reintam

    - O'Brien

    - Flannigan (unless as mentioned - Pay when play)

    - Caddis (V good player for L1 but does he even want to play football...)

    - Chopra

Hynd, Wilson, Lynas and Hoggan to get more than 90 minutes of football between them for the season.

We have signed a young boy in reserves Jack  no5 centre half watched him tonight against Berwick......looks a good prospect won every header in air and not scared to win a 50/50 and alway looking up when he had the ball ....Hardie looking good as well

I say give the youngsters a run out the tempo the play at looked good

  9. 4 v 1 to Clyde. We lost 2 very late goals. Great standard and even game of football. Lots of talent on display. Clyde keeper was excellent!

yep watched Clyde u20s play Rossvale u21s the other week some good young boys playing ,I liked Clydes centre half he was a stick out
