  1. Latest OTL Podcasts for anyone interested. On the Fields matters and daft song Boardroom Struggle https://soundcloud.com/colin-telford/march-part-2-boardroom-schenanigans Also have the begging bowl out to fund a proper soundcloud membership which would let me link things up properly with phone apps so that podcasts are delivered straight to your phone. Any donations to that massively appreciated - modest target of £90 and £30 already in [emoji815]️ https://www.gofundme.com/manage/otl-podcast-soundcloud-costs
  2. Eek, with enough runners in a midfield he might do a job but with what we have at the moment it’s a struggle to see how we’d get out of the league with him in the team.
  3. I’d pin point the first bit of bad feeling on the Worltherspoon regime being on day one when on the one hand we were extolling the values of looking to be a community club to also signing Lithgow [emoji85] The resigning of Conroy last year was probably the first negative of this regime. He actually started the season strongly “like a new signing” but overall at Airdrie I’ve been disappointed with him too slow and not commanding enough. Be gutted if he resigns. Guaranteed to score 4 against us next year for someone!!
  4. I’m not an IP lawyer but I was a lawyer and dragged into trying to help Airdrie out. That Article is the usual tabloid nonsense. Those badges are all safe. Rangers and DUFC not Heraldic and Hibs shield is registered. Apologies if I’ve the DUFC history wrong, I thought their badge in the shield was deemed Heraldic hence taking a similar approach to Rangers. Once you use a circular badge the Lord Lyon’s pf is happy. I had found a couple of message board threads suggesting that was right but you obviously were closer to the DUFC scenario. Could they not just have applied for additional use classes?
  5. My understanding is that Dundee United were forced into this change. Similar stories with Hibs (crown), Killie & Aberdeen (town crest), st mirren (castellation) were all similarly told to change long before 2016
  6. Dundee United were forced to change by the Lord Lyon’s procurator fiscal.
  7. Elijah Wade’s redesigns are always interesting. https://elijahwadeartefacts.com/2018/05/13/rebrand-east-fife-fc/
  8. Haha. I’ll admit to two thirds of that critique! I was raising the point to challenge how on earth action can only be taken when a complaint is made (and the complainer provides proof of ID) if the justification for the club being forced to stop using its badge. I’d really like to be able to stop any club being forced to change its badge because I really am that much of a boring C Bomb!
  9. Where does that figure come from? Does it take into account the Celtic Game and if so how have the cash flow requirements of the business been met?
  10. Bob Reid said later in the meeting that the Budget/Forecast that everyone was working to had £10K against the trust but in the notes to that it stated £8.5K merchandise so it had been clear the merchandise would be counted towards that. Trust also covering Bryan Prunty’s wage which they’d been happy to do given how helpful he’d been down the years. Agree with your point above, a sustainable, successful club needs to the common goal here.
  11. It’s a very good point. The Lord Lyon has his own procurator fiscal. When I was throwing my toys out the pram about our badge, I never got an answer about why he doesn’t pick up a newspaper and take action against over half the clubs in Scotland! The answer is probably because the Office would quickly disappear if it actually did that When I asked why taking action against Airdrie was deemed in the Public Interest, he said by not registering an Heraldic Device and paying the fees, Airdrie were essentially evading taxation.... It’s a bizarre world. Civil Servants employed to enforce “the world’s purest Heraldic system”!
  12. Trust end up owning a bigger share of it and it leads to sustained investment in the club. It’s what’s happening at Hibs just now and has helped turn them around. Existing shareholders would need to be happy being diluted though.
  13. It would be good to hear PH’s vision for the club and where he thinks the Trust fit into that. I don’t think the shares point is all that difficult though. Every time they put in £10k they get issued the same number of shares they’ve just bought from Colin Elliott.
  14. I was dreading the meeting being more of a financial crisis but thankfully that wasn’t the case. I have a lot of time for those involved in the club. They give their time freely to do a lot of work which isn’t core to but which adds a lot of value to the football club (and in the case of the Sensory Room and Sammy’s Shelter have also improved the stadium). A succession of owners have been unwilling to give the Board a seat at the table and the issue always seems to be that they expect the trust to pass on more funds to the club with nothing in return. I’d like to see the club agree to issue the trust shares every time it can pass £10k to the Club. That would dilute the other owners (unless they matched that on a pro rata basis) but it would incentivise the trust to keep raising funds and lead to increased Fan ownership. As it is just now, I really feel for the committee and I’d like to express my thanks for all of your efforts [emoji815]️
  15. I’d challenge you to read “the law” and make sense of it. It’s in old Scots and basically just says the Lord Lyon can grant arms to worthy people. Everything else is down to historic practices.
  16. The Raith Rovers badge is one of those registered with the Lord Lyon’s office. Letters must have been added at some stage and are technically “illegal”. It’s all a joke. You could add them above or below the Shield part of the badge.
  17. I know a lot more about Heraldry than I’d like to having tried to “save” the old Airdrie Badge! Ultimately neither Westminster or Holyrood interested (understandably!) in spending any time considering this!!!! I just find it a shame if we end up with homogeneous club branding because of all of this nonsense. It the grand scheme of things it’s of no relevance, but I’d love to see the clubs affected having the right to use their old badges again and the Heraldic Hobbyists put in their rightful place. The actions taken by the Lord Lyon’s Procurator Fiscal are not in the public interest. They also did seem to do a Uturn with a Perth Primary School recently who had an “illegal badge”.
  18. Except it wasn’t an Airdrie Fan who started the thread! I personally prefer your old badge. Too many circles in Scottish Football. Aberdeen, Celtic, Rangers, Stenny, Brechin etc. Your old badge was more unique. That said.... the new one must have a decent winning percentage!
  19. 2 part interview with Ian McMillan through the OTL Podcast for anyone interested.
  20. I genuinely don’t think any Airdrie Fan really cares but it’s good that it irritates you. I’m happy to acknowledge the liquidation; a warning to us as to what could happen again. What you believe a football club is as a concept is pretty interesting. Do you go with a Franchisee model where we were Clydebank in a previous life or is it the people, Supporters, Stadium etc? If Annan have our league membership does that mean it travelled via Gretna and we can lay claim to 3 championships and a Scottish Cup Final?! If so... I’ll be sure to give Annan a wee cheer and support the new Franchise at the same time..... if only just to annoy you [emoji815]️
  21. https://m.soundcloud.com/otl_podcast/when-otl-met-pele Plug for my Airdrie Podcast here. Interview with Francesc Fabregas about Tell Him He’s Pele and Stenhousemuir. Apparently you beat some team from Falkirk in a cup or something this year?
  22. Would Simon Ferry do a crossover show with you? It would be good to hear him as the interviewee and it would promote each of your shows to a different audience.
  23. Great that your podcast is back Craig and really enjoy your appearances on the Terrace.
