  1. I think this is it although I don't think it's really any of their fault, it's a very young team. I mean there's 6 loanees aged 18-20, Hester 20, Rutherford 21, Gold 23, Reid, 21, Stewart 21, Brodie 19, Lowdon 23, Munro 22. 14 guys out of your squad of 19 or whatever.

The only 'older' heads there are Little/Linn/Fleming and Wilson. Think it's blatantly obvious Todd has coached youth teams, seemed scared to go for anybody that might stand up and tell him how it is if things aren't going right, hence signing Henry over Nicoll/taking Ramsay off after 20 minutes because he spoke back etc.

Be totally different next season I imagine, there'll be a fair few who won't be afraid of mixing it when the goings tough and using their experience to help, they kind of guys are important.

Have to agree with most of this post and I would like to see Dick drop the loan players for one game and he can see who amongst the signed players are giving 100%, I also think some of the players wont want to sign on again and will be looking elsewhere after the way they have been treated

  2. I don't think Whatley avoids tackling. Hasn't been at his best recently but played left and right back last year and was superb si obviously can tackle. We do miss Hunter and Nicoll from midfield. Another reason we should have kept mcwalter. He was a bit raw but never got games to improve and certainly knew how to tackle. We should play the 11 guys who are most up for the fight but options are limited.

Agree in part, Whatley would be more comfortable at right back and Bobby as captain who I think has the way with him to fire the guys up

  3. I fully expect a win on Saturday, and I think that should be enough,

I'd like us to go out all guns blazing, why not put linn up front and let him focus on attacking,

    Fleming

    Williams

    Little

    Munro

    Rutherford

    Ramsay

    Whatley

    Stewert

    Lowden

    Linn

    Rutherford,

Of course if dick can do some Harry redknapp wheeling and bring in some fresh faces it's the best we got in my opinion,

Either way hopefully there's a big turn out and lots of support, we can not loose this,

    #thedickway

Good pick, with Linn up front

  4. So, if you were the board right now, and (assuming) they have accepted this is not working and unfortunately Todd's position is untenable due to the vast, vast majority of the fans not wanting him to continue in the role, what would you do right now?

Would you sack the management right now and be in a position where the biggest 'names' to apply for the job are Keith Gibson and Colin Cameron, or do you hold off until the summer when there will be more options, and hopefully a player coming towards the end of his career who fancies taking up a player/ manager role? If we were looking for someone right now, there is pretty much zero chance of a player/ manager, whereas if we were looking in May the chances of this being an option are significently higher.

Just make linn player manager save the team and some money.

So who's getting the blame then? manager, assistant and captain, all three plus the board

  5. Seeing as we no longer have a youth team...... Nope.

Do i think we need to bring back a youth team and start to play them in the squad ahead of crap loan signings and unimpressive senior players....... YES

It would be interesting to see how much it would cost to run a youth team and whether or not the fans would be interested in raising funds for it.

If we do start a youth set up dont let these two numpties near them, their enough to put young lads of playing football

  6. There's definitely a gap between youth/reserve football and League 2. And the younger players coming in need time to adjust and develop which they never seem to manage under the pressure to compete against competitive and experienced sides. I think Scott, McWalter and Robertson had the qualities to step up.

But there is an issue in drafting in inexperienced loan players from other clubs. True they may have slightly better skill levels and greater potential BUT they also need time to adapt and so struggle to be effective for some time. Young loan players were shown as a bit lightweight last weekend against E Fife and I worry a bit when we face the more physical sides like Queens and Annan. Also hope to be proved wrong but the lack of experience in all the recent loan signings is a concern

Very good valid point of view

  7. Agree with the first two points and the first part of the third. You say Gold and Reid don't do enough as wingers-when they're not actually wingers. Reid has played through the middle during his recent run of starts and the last time I recall Gold playing on the wing was at Elgin when Linn and Ramsay were both injured.

Don't really get the point about Linn coming too deep, he's having his most prolific season yet for us so I think we'd be as well leaving him to do his own thing.

I expect McWalter to leave and wouldn't object to Clarke leaving provided we replace them.

Well said, just one question, how many goals (apart from Hester, who really is a striker) have the so called strikers scored this season ?

  8. Not having a go but where do you stand at Gayf? The stuff I hear after a misplaced pass in the 2nd minute is embarrassing

I know what you mean, 3 old guys in front of me moaning from the kick off not using names but numbers 5,8 and 9 calling them f**king useless.

They forgot about the conditions which were terrible

  9. Thanks Lichtie78, I just want to see Arbroath at the top where they belong and as you know I have been against Lumsden getting the job in the first place, just look at what he done to Albion,he has to go before January, its our only chance. There's some good talent at Arbroath but they are not being played in the best positions that suit them. Lumsden was the cheap option and it has back fired.

  10. The excuse that the league is very tight was reasonable up until recently, but now Todd simply HAS to mix things up. Hester deserves a chance to start a game, because neither Rutherford or Grehan has taken the opportunities they've been given. Gold for me is horrendous, he doesn't contribute nearly enough and Reid should be given a chance ahead of him. Watson is wasted in CM, where he doesn't look comfortable. Play him RB or CB where he looks assured.

Cant understand the situation with some players sitting on the bench that should be playing, the misuse of Reid who comes from an SPL team all the way down the ladder to Arbroath and sits on his arse, when on loan to Elgin he is played in behind the strikers (not on the wings) and scores something like 4 goals in 9 games with some assists, pair him up with Linn that gives you too wee tricky players ripping the defence apart for Lumsden's one up front setup, its worth a try, cant get any worse

  11. It's extremely impressive that you are able to judge a football manager after two games of a season

It's obvious that, yet again, you weren't actually in attendance yesterday. If you had been, you would know that the team didn't need changed, and one of the big factors in our loss was the fact that it was changed. We should never have changed formation, we should never have moved Bobby Linn from his role upfront and we should never have changed both full back positions when we only needed to change one (ideally dropping Whatley to left back and leaving Watson where he was).

All of the above is obvious to anyone with 'management skills'

Just to clarify - you are not right. You have never been right. Getting on a managers back two games into a season is embarrassing, and as such (in case you hadn't noticed) most of us are simply embarrassed by your comments. Personally I'm still fairly convinced you're not actually even an Arbroath fan. While the vast majority of us have been fairly supportive of the management up until recently and given him the chance that any manager deserves, you have been sitting about spouting negative shite week in week out, gloating and smug every time we lose. It is possible to have a different opinion to others without being a c**t about it....

come the end of the season we will see who is right

  12. I think the vast majority of the fans are in agreement regarding the management.

A manager has to always be given time to get things together, and calling for him to go in August/ September as some were will always be ridiculous, but a third of the way into the season is enough time to judge things and ultimately we are 9th out of 10 teams in a division where we have one of, if not the, biggest budget.

Sadly I think today is the straw that broke the camels back. I believe we have some very good individual players for this division, which they have proved in the past, and although there are some holes in the team we should be doing better than we have done so far.

Bit late in seeing the light, anyone who has management skills can see when another does not.

pity about the result but good to see young Hester getting on.Pity about taking far too long to see the team needed changed, late subbies as usual

  13. I felt we were very weak down the left yesterday. Gold was good going forward but didn't track back enough. Lowden was left isolated. In the 1st half Callum Patterson was constantly in plenty of space and caused us all sorts of problems

Yes I agree but Linn did the same with wilson and left him isolated thats where all the pressure came from for the goals.

could do with a bigger CH and a better RB that was the weakness in the Hearts game and the striker Coult

  14. I still think we need another striker, just can't see grehan and coult working together. Someone with a bit of pace about them to play off of one of them. Very much looking forward to tomorrow night

Right on, Stenny fans recon he is too slow, need someone with pace and a good engine to work with coult

BTW what happened to the Rangers game ?
