I haven't been for a while. Nevertheless, wonder if your post was two words too long?

Not really. It's been the old Rovers story this year: world beaters one week; panel beaters the next.

    Footlights College won, alas.

... and deservedly so. We were abysmal, but the Uni played really well and dominated large parts of the game. The winner did look well offside, but these things happen.

That's nine points for the season now, four of them from Rovers. We really are pish against underdogs.

How would that work with the signing deadline long passed?

Albion release him so he’s a free agent and EK scoop him up?  Seems really wrong:

I'm pretty certain the signing deadline is 31st March at this level.

Getting Callum Hannah on a loan from Raith...a big laddie with very little experience. Has looked promising when we've seen him play, natural LB, but has the size to perhaps cover CB too. Will he be able to get time with you?

If he's a natural left back, I reckon he'll go straight in. Our only natural left back is just back from injury, and actually has played further forward since he came back.

Is he coming out to us as he's likely to be released in the summer and we're his level, or is he on a longer contract?

Since there isn't a c***s on the pavement thread: narrow pavement alongside a busy town road, guy with two dogs coming toward me, taking up the whole width of pavement. I move out to the kerb side but he marches on, clearly expecting me to step onto road so his pooches aren't endangered! Eh, naw!

I had this recently. Daft woman asked why I couldn't just step onto the busy road as her dog gets anxious when it meets other pedestrians. That was a firm "Naw" as well

Ideal mate cheers. Sadly back at uni but given no student card yet so the joys of the adult pricing tomorrow 😂

Explain the situation when you get to the gate. You may get lucky and get someone pragmatic who is willing to take you at face value.

Quite looking forward to seeing the Shire again; your support were always good fun in the days when we were closer rivals

If I supported Rovers I'd have adjusted by now and be looking forward to it.

To be fair, I think most of us do think like that. We deserved to go down, and we're unlikely to be back anytime soon, so might as well get some good days out from it.

So, on average, a baw hair over 0%. Hopefully you do a wee bit better than that.

Need I ask if the Coatbridge Shamrock stuff has died an inglorious death?

We've no chance of going back up for the foreseeable future. I quite like the look of the South Challenge Cup though; doing well in that might be our best chance of success in the coming years; cue us getting fcuked out by Newburgh next month.

Coatbridge Shamrock hasn't had the death it deserves yet, but it's hard to see how it could succeed given our ownership structure. People with good intentions aren't able to purchase control, which means the same should hold true for fantasists.

I can’t believe that story has made print.

I can. It's a nice easy 'frighten the horses' type story, with some renta-quote on hand to give it some 'credence' in between knocking up a howling badge on his ZX Spectrum.

Thankfully, the same Rovers share structure that makes new investment from those with better intentions almost impossible, has seen the death of this too.

@sailorcowdenis spot on.  You either give up completely (don’t give up Rovers fans) or look on it as positively as you can.

There are some cracking away trips to be had as pointed out, though Bo’ness on a freezing December night couple with a wretched performance was not to be recommended.

Yeah, I think that's how most if us see it, or will come to see it as the new season approaches.

We're in the Lowland League, because we aren't good enough for League 2 at the moment, and we'll probably be here for a while. Best to make the most of it.

The admission prices have been a concern for both home and away fans all season,I am afraid with the numbers of away fans being lamentable. No doubt that the EF Board pricing strategy has failed miserably.

I know lots of Rovers fans (me included) boycotted the last visit, but today is too important to miss.

Another must win for us, but I do have a bad feeling about this one. East Fife having the chance of cementing their playoff slot worries me.

So, Courier is saying we've signed Charlie Reilly. Some amazing stats for you and I know he's a set piece specialist but what's he like as a player? Would he be ready to be a top flight player potentially next season? What's his weaknesses?

He's a smashing talent but the Premier League is some step up, so I'm not sure I see him rampaging past top-flight right backs next season.. However, over time (assuming he does get time and isn't expected to perform within a year or be let go to find his way down the leagues, like has happened to a few that have moved on from us to the top level in the past), he could be a very good full-time player

His only weakness is he can be a little huffy if things aren't going away, but that's improved over his time with us. He's also pretty much had to carry us at times in terms of a goalscoring threat this year, so maybe getting annoyed with lesser players is understandable.

Now he's earned us a development fee, his next trick needs to be to keep us up; that will earn him the freedom of Coatbridge (I'll make the "that'll teach him" joke myself)

Sandy Clark. A rather bizarre appointment.

Aye, but when you're desperate, you're desperate. There wouldn't be too many willing to put their reputations on the line, by risking taking someone else's side into the Lowland League.

Here's hoping he can shake the players up a bit.

  14. 9 minutes ago, Bold Rover said:

We would have been as well sticking with Reid unless they have someone better lined up. The Paton option is unattractive.

Yeah, we are where we are though. Here's hoping there is a plan, and more importantly, one that can be executed in a couple of days.

  15. 2 hours ago, Richey Edwards said:

Reidy is a good guy. Hope he's back in football soon.

Yeah, I'd second that. Always very frank with supporters, and in after-match interviews.

I also don't like this tendency some supporters have to kick ex-managers when they're down. We have a few that are describing Brian as a disaster etc. which just isn't true or fair. It hasn't worked out this season, and we've done the right thing in moving to change things at this late stage, and Brian should therefore be thanked for his efforts and wished all the very best.

Time is of the essence here, and the aim needs to be to have a leader in place for our next training session (Tuesday, I reckon). I hope our board are capable of doing that, and the situation doesn't drag on unnecessarily. If it means Michael Paton being the only candidate available in that timescale, as he's already there, then we might just need to suck that up and pray for a 'dead cat bounce'. A more considered appointment could then follow in the summer

Also, they would have been happy as pigs in Sh*t on that pitch.

That's bollocks! We made the most of that today, just like we try to do at Cliftonhill, but Rovers are far better on astroturf and have been under the last few managers; Brogan and his lower tier juniors aside.

That did the heart good today. Nobody will ever predict the Rovers, that's for sure. Great stuff, and 5-1 didn't flatter us. Now watch us lose to Stranraer on Tuesday and get fucked by Bonnyrigg next Saturday - it's the rovers way!

Oh and I feel conflicted over the Sons.  I do like to see them doing well, but I also like getting bevvied with their supporters, so um yeah, come on Stirling, I suppose

Rob Jones possibly back to cliftonhill,

I've blanked him from my memory, which doesn't suggest he's a world beater. however, his stats show he was signed just before Brogan was sacked, got two games in November 18 under Kevin Harper and then disappeared.

Was he injured or just crap?

  18. I'm another who thought that was a decent game, and I reckon any neutrals attending with an open-mind would have been impressed. Champions League, it clearly isn't, but its young fit and committed guys doing their absolute best, and there was some pretty skilful players on show.

A draw was fair, to my mind, although losing a goal late on is always a sickener. I did think it was a penalty and sending off at the time, and I still think that having seen Stenny's excellent highlights, which as close to VAR as we're going to get. Our two wide players (Reilly and Wilson) were the stand-outs for me, but they all passed muster, with Scott Robers doing his absolute best as a makeshift striker. However, We really need a natural one and soon.

We're off the bottom again, but I'm not sure we'll stay there, especially is we don't get someone in up top to take more of the chances we create. I had a dream the other night that we beat Brechin in the playoff final, but I'm not sure my delicate constitution could handle that level of drama.

Rumours are that John is going to sign on... I would assume if he does it's a player coach role. But he might also be winding folk up which wouldn't surprise me at all.

He looks really fit and has lost a right few stone. Not sure I see him as a coach, but he definitely looks likely to be signing for you as a player

It was a red card and a penalty. Both spot on.

refs are only dodgy when ye get beat.

That was more of a general comment than anything else, as the officials are poor at this level.

I didn't see the red card properly but I do think the penalty was soft. That said, if I think differently when (if?) I see both again, I'll happily post just that.
