You said Thistle signed Chalmers, blowing Ayr out of the water. I was wondering if you have some kind of insider knowledge, because that’s the first I’ve heard of it.

A lot of Ayr fans have been talking about it in the last couple of weeks. Think with Raith getting Easton tied down it’s likely he’ll go to you especially as you have a gaping hole on that right wing side with Lawless crocked. I’m quite pleased we’ve got Jay Henderson in the building before it’s announced he’s away as losing our customary player to Partick Thistle whilst we scramble around for a replacement was becoming incredibly tiresome.

Think he’ll do okay at Thistle but I’m not sure his game (on that right hand side) is as good as Lawless especially when you have a guy in the box who’s just wanting crosses all day long.

Given the make up of our squad if we are getting a winger they should be our random punt signing.

Aye given we have Murphy and Henderson I suppose you’d be a bit more receptive to trying another punt from the National League or similar. I think the positions up for grabs that almost have to be sure things are right back, centre half (be in Sanders, Musonda or someone else) and a midfielder. We have Dempsey, Syla and Murdoch. We have no idea how well Murdoch has recovered from his injury and Syla is prone to nightmare games where he gives the ball away. Another body in there who can handle this level would be decent.

Musonda is with Zambia for the next two weeks. Probably why he's not signed for Ayr, or anyone else yet.

I thought he was almost due back. Feels like he’s been away for a while now. Can only hope he re-signs, stays fit and gets a proper pre season under his belt. He’s the only player (along with Chalmers) that I see trying to move on this summer.

@Freedom Farter, I see that McAlear says Martindale signed him to play as a 6, with us building the game through him.

He was at Ayr for a bit and looked like he was towing a caravan in every match. Sorry.

Aye it really can’t be overstated how slow he is. I wouldn’t say his range of passing is really good enough to be playing in a role where he’s dictating things.

They sold the whole support out when they chose Celtic to open the new stand. They knew exactly the reaction it would receive and the resentment it would cause.

They knew that Celtic fans would get far more out this game than Ayr fans would. They knew from the off that the ground would be 75% Celtic (at least).

They made a business decision and dropped their drawers for money.

Some folk are happy with that. I'm not. Not going to cry over it and when we get a decent player signed I'll more than likely move on but they've lost the trust (again) of a lot of young fans. They'll never learn.

Again though, the reaction has been pretty mild on the whole. There’s a group of fans unhappy about it but the club can’t please everyone.

Oh I'm absolutely on board with that. It would be a terrific addition and I'm sure we've got young fans who could absolutely nail it.

Offering it as a pay off for giving Celtic their spot as way of compensation is a pathetic suggestion and clearly doesn't reflect how strongly the young guys feel about this.

They're hardly going to trust the club to do right by them after this just because there's a mural on the wall.

What is doing right by them? The club aren’t selling anyone out here.

I can guarantee you that everything will be forgiven once the team win a game or two or a good signing is made. Football fans are too fickle to hold a grudge over something this petty.

Well done to whoever put that banner up.

Glad we have some that care about more than money.

It’s NOT just a friendly, it’s meant to primarily be about unveiling the new stand. Enjoying it. Nice atmosphere. Not having all 4 sides of the stadium filled with bile and scum.

Absolutely ashamed of our club and the attitude of so many so called supporters who are happy to sell your soul for £40K.

    It’s a friendly.

Anyone else find it a tad amusing as we fire in signing after signing while the gaffer is off sunning himself in Dubai and Italy?

Clearly making offers they can’t refuse - from the comfort of his sun lounger - pleasing 😊

Think it’s more that Mathie has been warned to get him certain players in before he steps back off the plane in Scotland. Here’s hoping we get another one or two this week.

Not to mention the occasional "Ayr Troop Major" or the HIV song. If that's what constitutes their "atmosphere" then it's a no from me on that.

I like the idea of the organised section that get the crowd going, but its not really been noticeable at home for a long time.

It’s only really noticeable when we’re a goal or two up which hasn’t happened all that often in the last year.

I can appreciate where the club are coming from in terms of getting as much money out of this lot as possible; however fucking off a big section of the core support for the sake of a friendly is really shite.

I don’t think they’ve pissed the core support off at all. The people raging about it are absolutely in the minority here going by what I’ve seen posted on P&B, Facebook and Twitter.
