  1. 10 years ago they were dishing out consistent pastings to us with a pretty solid squad for League 1 level. Andy Stirling, Stevie Bell, Frank McKeown, Jamie Longworth etc. All kinda went to shit when it was revealed they were massively overpaying for players and their squad got gutted under Stevie Farrell. We had loads of good battles with them in League 1 so I wouldn’t want to see them relegated as I think they’d disappear and not be seen again.
  2. I don’t think he’s on much. I think the idea was he’d have this gig for a couple of years and then move on to another club in a similar role without the playing commitments. He is absolutely done though but I can’t comment at all on his work behind the scenes.
  3. Aye Brian Graham gets away with it given his incredibly annoying habit of scoring against us. Muirhead is a fanny that was rightfully disliked by his own fans before he left Ayr.
  4. He was absolutely seething when he was subbed off to the Ayr abuse. I’m convinced that man has been permanently raging since his professional career began.
  5. We may well end up with a couple but I can’t see Browns first port of call being asking Celtic for a couple of loan deals. He’ll want players that are committing to the club. Once it gets to the end of the window then we can start supplementing what we have with a loan or two. I’ll eat my (and everyone else’s) hat if we sign an actual first team player from Celtic regardless of nationality.
  6. I think our overall squad could look something like this next season. This is on the assumption that we keep the likes of Clarke, Dowds, Sanders and Chalmers. Might be optimistic but I think they will stay. Fans will be split on Clarke but I like what he gives us in terms of distribution and how comfortable he is on the ball. I had also heard that Brown wasn't convinced on McGinty for next season so wouldn't be shocked if he was away and replaced. Goalkeepers Josh Clarke, Robbie Mutch, Ollie Ecrepont Right Back Nick McAllister, Dylan Watret Left Back Paddy Reading Centre Back Jack Sanders, George Stanger, Frankie Musonda Central Midfield Ben Dempsey, Roy Syla Attacking Midfield Logan Chalmers, Jamie Murphy, Scott Tomlinson Striker Anton Dowds, Fraser Bryden, Mark McKenzie If the above is the case then it gives us a solid start in recruitment. We're probably still looking for a left footed centre back, left back, defensive midfielder, winger and a striker.
  7. If you’re talking about pace then it has to be in the full back, central midfield and wide areas. I don’t think every signing is going to be a sprinter but McCall spoke about the big jump from League 1 to the Championship being pace. I have absolutely no idea who Brown plans on keeping on next season but I’m safe in the knowledge that he’ll be wanting to get a head start on planning for next season and that means getting players locked down early on.
  8. Sounds about right. I think there’s guys that looked done that Brown has managed to get back to their best. I was all in favour of getting shot of Musonda but he was very good today albeit I’d want a proper left back playing every week.
  9. You can’t really argue with Paton. If he was playing for Raith or Dundee United he’d be well clear of Graham in the scoring charts. I can’t say there’s been any goalies that have impressed me this year. I’d probably have gone for Walton though.
  10. Clarke Stanger Sanders McGinty Musonda Chalmers Dempsey McHugh Murphy Willoughby McKenzie 2-0 Ayr
  11. Stillie was brought back in since then to help out on match days.
  12. I had heard a wee while ago that there were plans for a season ticket that basically had you in hospitality for every game and it was priced at roughly the same as the 5 year season ticket so maybe whoever told me was getting their wires crossed a bit.
  13. Can’t believe folk are voting for Bryden over Stanger for YPOTY. Stanger had a few iffy moments at the start of the season but I think he’s probably the most improved player under Brown and I’d be quite happy with him starting in our defence next season.
  14. Can’t say I’d be surprised if we signed Sanders permanently. He’s the one defender that has played consistently under Brown (once he got in the team) and hasn’t been dropped after a mistake despite the same fate befalling other members of the squad such as McGinty and Syla. I think there’s room for improvement but I also think he’s a pretty bog standard centre half for this league. If you pair him alongside someone else who’s better then he’ll be fine. A bit like Aaron Muirhead. Can see it more likely that McGinty and Musonda leave in the summer.
  15. Surely likely to be out the picture at County if they stay up? If they come down then they have one of the most capable midfielders in the league.
  16. Charlie Telfer is one to look at. Maybe a wee bit lightweight but he’s up there this season for assists at Airdrie. I agree that we should at least ask McInroy if he’d come back. Brown will know him a bit from being at Celtic together and it’s a signing that might happen purely for the chance to play under him.
  17. I don’t know what people expect from Dempsey. He rarely loses possession, covers a lot of ground, can carry the ball forward and chips in with a few goals. He does the basics well which is what you want from a central midfielder at this level. I think Syla is too inconsistent to be relied upon and as much as I like McHugh, his fitness is a bit of a worry. I’d be quite happy if our midfield was Dempsey and a more physical midfielder who is better in the tackle.
  18. Probably an argument now that he’s a better left back for us than centre back. The one issue with the team today was the lack of left footers which made us slightly unbalanced.
  19. We also managed to play large parts of this season with absolutely no protection from the midfield.
  20. If he’s out of contract then I’m sure he’d be a realistic target. I think Brown has done ok in terms of signings. He’s had far more hits than Bullen had in his first January window. FWIW I think only McGinley and Clarke were signed after January.
  21. I think more so with Sanders. I think he was a signing that Brown has actively made to improve the defence. Whilst we have improved a bit we still switch off and make unnecessary errors. I think Clarke was more of a reactionary signing based on whatever has happened with Albinson. I think Brown had planned to run with him for the rest of the season but the injury to Mutch and Albinsons form nosediving made him act. I trust Brown if he decides to keep Sanders but I think we need someone different as our first choice goalie.
  22. I think there’s a possibility that Sanders could be here next season.
