  1. How’s Rose getting on? I see he appears on the scoresheet pretty regularly. Doubt he’ll be in our plans next season unless Brown changes his mind but we might hold out for some kind of fee.
  2. Morton are utterly chronic. Teams can fall off a bit and lose form but this is something else from them in the last few weeks.
  3. Given you’ll have to get off at Prestwick I’d say your best bet is taking in a pub there rather than Ayr. You’ve got a better selection imo. In terms of where will show the football you’ve got Vic’s on the high street although they might opt for the golf coverage instead.
  4. I think it’s fair to assume they’ll be up as well as the walk up prices. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s a drop or increase in season ticket purchases or how the club actually plan on selling them to people who are on the fence. I do believe that the club took a lot for granted last summer. I think they’ll need to be far more active and get a couple of deals over the line early on if they want to generate a bit of buzz around the place. I have heard that the club plan to back Brown quite significantly this summer but we can’t have a repeat of last year where it seemed like every week we were missing out on someone.
  5. There’s another 3 games left after Saturday so that’s 9 points left to play. We win on Saturday and we are 99% safe. To be caught by Caley we’d have to lose all three games and they would have to win two and draw one. The only advantage they’d have over us is goal difference. I think it’s far more likely that we win on Saturday. Inverness also lose. We then both lose next week to Dundee Utd and Raith respectively and then it’s a 7 point gap with two games to play. We then have two free hits against Partick and Dunfermline.
  6. Has to be this. If McHugh is fit to start I’d bring him in as well for McKenzie.
  7. I seem to remember him being very quick and nothing else. Very little end product. However on Tuesday he seemed to have some idea of where he was supposed to be playing, played a great ball in for Dowds and looked really strong when holding the ball up. He mentions in there that Brown makes certain demands of his wide players and there was maybe a bit of adjustment for him having to get used to that but then Brown deserves a bit of credit for giving him a chance again if he’s shown up well in training. I’d easily start him on Saturday. I’d bring Murphy back in to play on the opposite side though.
  8. Would’ve been fairly easy for Amartey to take the huff given he wasn’t playing. Seems to have a real desire to play for us and his comments on Brown are pretty positive.
  9. Well the one benefit to having a bottle in the SRE or NT is that you quickly forget just how freezing it is or how many goals have been scored for that matter. The concrete is also much comfier with a bottle in you so there’s that. Not that I’d know of course.
  10. Won’t be an issue once you join the prawn sandwich brigade and can watch the full 90 from the comfort of a big glass box with your arse cushioned in leather.
  11. Exactly Prior to this season I usually swapped between the North Terracing and the SRE depending on where we are shooting. Granted you cannot see a thing or have any concept of distance at the Railway End when viewing from the SRE however it’s a problem you have to deal with for at least 45 minutes. I don’t see the difference whether that’s the first half or the second half.
  12. I don’t think it really matters to be honest unless a team is making use of their home pitch in their style of play. Under Bullen this season I felt we played far better on bigger pitches as our threat was in the wings. We put five past Queens Park at Hampden by exploiting huge gaps in behind their defence and by stretching their full backs to where they didn’t want to go. At home we were terrible. Somerset is a rather tight pitch and I don’t think it lends itself to wing play as much. It’s why McCall rarely played with two out and out wingers and instead favoured one wide player and one midfielder who could come inside into midfield more often, usually Robbie Crawford. Only other case I can think of is when you’re Celtic or Rangers and the referee is utterly terrified to give a decision against you.
  13. Airdrie are by some distance the worst side we’ve faced. In four games McCabe hasn’t worked out how to beat us which is strange as it isn’t exactly rocket science.
  14. Apparently last night George Oakley wasn’t able to play to his best as he was booked early on for trying to show off some wrestling moves on our defender. Didn’t realise some players had to be let away with repeated fouling in order to have a good game.
  15. Considering anyone on here could spend 10 minutes doing it as well. I do agree that I don’t see the statistical benefit behind it beyond it just being a coincidence. I don’t however buy into the anger at the decision simply because “that’s how it’s been for years”.
  16. They obviously won’t word as such but they can absolutely word it in a way where a player will accept it. No player is appealing that to stay at a club where they aren’t wanted. As for the weird grudge comment, if you don’t want me to reply to your posts in disagreement I don’t know what you’re expecting.
  17. Uh huh None of this would stop us releasing players for simply not being good enough.
  18. It was Shane Sutherland and it was because they released him whilst he was still injured and didn’t commit to helping him recover and rehab. He said it was wrong the way they did it. If a contract is up you aren’t under any obligation to offer an extension. If there are clauses in the contract such as appearances made resulting in a new contract then that’s different. We have kept the likes of Paul Smith on the same way that we kept Finn Ecrepont. We were hoping and praying they would come good. If Brown didn’t want Reading then he wouldn’t be here next season.
  19. The big fud shouldn’t have gotten booked for persistent fouling then. Not much of an argument that he can only play well if he’s able to foul players.
  20. It’s a weird one. Based on this season does Reading deserve a new contract? Probably yes. Do the past few seasons tell us that he is consistently good enough to help us get promoted? No. I think people will struggle to look past just how poor he was last season. Wasn’t even so much on the ball or going forward but his positioning defensively was woeful and it cost us goals in games. The playoffs would’ve finished most players off but again I think Bullen lacked that ruthless streak to get rid of players that he really should’ve. I take the point about not wanting an overhaul as regardless of Reading or McAllister we still need around 5-6 new bodies. If he signs a new contract then you can only hope there’s someone there pushing him to perform or can take his spot if he drops off.
  21. For finishing 4th you’d be as well forgetting the playoffs and sitting in the house.
  22. He’s a dreadful excuse of a centre half. FWIW Jack Sanders had a great game for us tonight and didn’t let Oakley into the game at any point.
