  1. Thinking back, yes, Mutch had become less than dependable. One of his stand out gaffs was the Cup game we won up at Gayfield. The goal he gave away that day was like something from a 14 year old school goalie.
The guy was suffering from a major confidence crisis when he was dropped, and Martin is now in exactly the same place……I think the duffers in the defence haven’t helped either.
A good back line improves the keeper or a decent keeper gives the back line confidence. We have neither which is our problem
  2. Give Hetherington a chance. He was asked to play in a system that all moves start from the back. That would involve him being a skillful playmaker which he clearly is not. If his role changes to merely protecting the back 3 then perhaps. Not very confident of this but worth a punt as he is drawing a wage

  3. Of course he does but I think the end of season contract suits both parties success for him will be the playoffs even if we dont go up.
If he does that they will offer him the gig. Looking what he did in Canada and Korea he is a good system and structure organiser on and off the park so the long term plan could be him stepping up in time handing over to Miller.
Said this a while ago. The poor management team have been left with an unenviable task in trying to get this gang anywhere. The winter window has very little opportunities. I would love to see what Rennie could do with a full summer restructure. He has improved us as an attacking force but we will achieve nothing apart from MAYBE a play off spot with our defence options
  4. I’m pretty confident that Rennie will know where we need to improve however bringing in a new spine of quality to a really poor team is almost impossible during the January window. Let’s hope he gets at least some of his targets and at least it’s not Gary Holt identifying them.
I am resigned to another season in this league which will have Airdrie, Montrose, a likely improved QP, a flying Kelty and another relegated side next season. Season on season we look more and more like a mid-table League 1 team - it’s really grim.

The back to back appointments of Paul Hartley and Ray McKinnon look more damaging week on week.

6 years ago tomorrow I watched us draw 1-1 with Hibs in front on over 7000 fans. We went on to finish 2nd, above Hibs and lose in the play off final.
I can’t believe how far we have fallen in 6 years. It’s been brutal.
10 years ago we drew away from home against Celtic
  5. Rennie and Miller are contracted only until the end of the season. As things stand, there is no "next season" where they are concerned. Their sole aim should be to somehow manage to get us into the top four - God help us that that is now the absolute limit of our aspiration for the remainder of the season, to try and finish just above midtable in League 1, but here we are - and then take our chances in the play-offs. Given our utterly pathetic inability to beat any team other than the absolute shite, even that looks a pretty erroneous task at this stage, albeit not impossible. The next two weeks are absolutely crucial in terms of recruitment to replace some of the dross who are continually selected week after week after week despite their consistently horrendous performances.
This I know. Merely speculating what they might achieve IF they had a full squad to employ in summer but won't happen probably
  6. Think Rennie and Miller should be preparing for next season. They have been left with a side of duds and not even a decent window will sort it. Would be very interested what they could achieve if they had a summer to build a team. They are already improving the players who have any skill at all ( in that I don't include Hall McKay and Miller)
