It should give relegated SPFL clubs a better chance of returning to the SPFL..

That would mean they would have to attract good enough players to win the league they get elegated into - which hasn't happened so far (but might in Brechin's case.)

As is stands SPFL clubs relegated into the Lowland League - most of whose players will be out of contract, being on one-year deals - seem to face a big problem in persuading enough good new ones to join a sinking ship.

Granted a Lowland club returning to the SPFL may occur in future but it doesn't look likely right now for precisely the reason above.

If relegated club isn't good enough, and doesn't match the ambitions to go straight back up then it's found it's level. The automatic promotion, has to happen with a play-off perhaps for a 2nd spot. It will then allow teams who have been hanging about the lower end of spfl to show ambition and not be happy with just sitting there.

The fact that NHS hospitals are stretched to breaking point is also a problem.  What if a player breaks his leg during a game or a committee member crashes their car on the way to a game - they're not going to check into their nearest BUPA or Spire are they?

Nairn v Broxburn for example: 2 West Lothian players overnight in a hospital in Inverness in December.   I just think it is wholly avoidable and unnecessary.

I agree - What harm would it do to stop for January and February until things ease up?

NHS hospitals are the same every year at this time. Stretched the same narrative for the last 10 years.

  3. I understand why some would want it called, and I am strongly against it. Mental well-being of hundreds if not thousands being affected due to negligence of our current Scottish Cabinet. Any stats on the deaths of people under the age of 45? Where's the flu gone?

People die every day of the big C, and various other illnesses. People are dying due to operations being put on hold because of the ''FEAR'' of covid.

I'm chuffed to be able to get out the house socialise and train, especially given my coaching of a local youth side is on hold due to this.

By that token then Alan, premier players are mixing with potentially 35-40 people per week (give or take squad size numbers) whereas our level have the potential to mix with 35 (squad + coaches + committee) times by the number of people they work with plus family so conservative total being 150 per week.

Full time players are being tested weekly but our level don't, yet you say there is no bigger risk of eos teams contacting this virus?

    Premier league players only tho.

Only 2 deaths under 44 in the UK from 'covid' I put ' around the because people can have covid and then die 28 days later in a car crash and thus they died from covid.

It has no grave danger to young people. Where is the flu?

Peffermill is book blocked by the hockey teams a believe for that night league refused for livingston to be used

Yeah hockey gets first shout there.

Their LL side get next to no funds from Edinburgh Uni.

They can't give boys signing fees, expenses etc. Crazy stuff.

Played one game for them against Aberdeen Uni who weren't the greatest.

  6. Hi guys,

Looking to complement current squad at Edinburgh City 17s for the new season. We have 2 sides at the age group, 1 2nd division side and the other in division 3.

Ideally looking for lads who are keen to learn, and work hard. If you're looking to play football im keen to get you along.

    Thanks

Can't speak for Leith mate, no idea why they are off. Is it a council facility? All of our council run ones are closed for two weeks for this shutdown, maybe peffermill the same.

My comment was more related to us, but that will be confirmed tomorrow once we hear a definitive answer from test and trace. Their initial feedback would see us off for 2 weeks.

    Edinburgh Uni facility.

Very good 4G/5G surface, or whatever it is.

No trialists allowed at present. Was on the email sent out to clubs from the league

Pointless any teams making any plans to return any time soon then, always good to get the new lads in early doors.

Tynecastle have signed Fletcher Hendry from Lothian. Surprised at that one another good addition for Tynie.

Some funny budgets flying about this season! Tranent rumoured to have 100k, Linlithgow 120k.

One player I know signed for Tynecastle got/offered 2.5k...

Yes, I think we're conflating issues - The discussion was around perimeter fence / pitch barrier and access via a public park, and meeting criteria to join the EoS League

I don't think grandfather rights apply anymore when it comes to club licensing, which is why there's been a bit of pressure this season on some licensed clubs to get floodlights in place.

I think floodlights where forced upon some clubs.

Coldstream have qualified staff to meet criterias and various other things that the SFA have asked for over the years.

It does seem bizarre that spending 65k+ on floodlights and other licensing things to receive a maximum of 4.5k per season however?

I love a club with a bit ambition.

Unless south do what Craigroyston done and put up an unofficial fence on common ground then it won't ever happen. It's more than just a fence needed. Do you really think they have not looked at all options in the area? South Edinburgh football grounds are either on a flood plain or on common ground with Astros at Edinburgh uni deemed not good enough by the league so I heard.

Meadowbank was good enough for Leith so why wouldn't the same 'set-up' at Edin Uni not be good enough for others?

I grew up close to their base at the Inch. Edinburgh South has a big population but had no continuing senior / junior side for years, with the existing clubs in other parts of the city or just outside in Mid Lothian (although a few teams used Fernieside on and off). I always thought there might be some kind of potential for a side to properly establish itself in the area and try to get some support. However, I'd question why they are making this step if they have to play in Dalkeith. Surely makes more sense to get a park in their home area and develop it then have a crack at EoS.

Inch park, has planning permission to build new homes. I believe this was submitted recently, now should or could they make changes to the facility at the top of Moredun maybe. But they are currently a million miles away from doing that.
