A few teams at bottom of the Premier league may have taken a sigh of relief that no relegation this season, none more so than Newtongrange.

Will they now be able to re-group and have a bigger fight whenever season 20-21 begins?

As resources may be an issue for a number of clubs with the lack of recent income, next season could be very interesting!

I believe they will still struggle next season, I hate to see teams struggle in a financial sense and I believe that Newtongrange may have that issue.

    Agreed.

Let's feel sorry for Kinnoull is over. Vote stands so move on !

They are pish and would have ended up mid table by the last game anyway

Blame Carole Fucking Baskin is what I say.

LTHV have previously won the league a couple of times and been 'hard done by' and it's brilliant for them in that sense.

Being in the Premier brings with it more revenue? Possibly. So one season in there with the top sides, and can foresee further developments off the field the year after.

And play Burntisland in third last game who have already beaten them at home earlier this season so yes tough run in

They have just signed a boy Darren Clegg who wasn't getting a game at Glenrothes so signed with mates in Sunday amateurs and now ended up there.

If that's their standard of signing then I can't see them mounting any challenge.

Does this entitle them to any 'grants' from the FA? Aswell as the miniscule amount they would get from the SFA? I seem to remember a decent 4 figure sum was previously paid by the SFA to member clubs in EOS leagues.
Not sure if this is still a thing? I do that Duns are still paying to stay as members and as yet have not applied to EOS for re-entry which is a shame given the facilities they have are very very good.

Money was reduced from 10k to 2.5k iirc

When did this happen? Unreal amount to be parting with in the first place albeit now clubs have to rely heavily on sponsorship and advertising hoardings etc and arguably the lowest level of football. Clubs like Coldstream now 'relying' on Scottish Cup money again a miniscule amount very hard for clubs to bring players in and have that appeal.

  6. Not sure why Tranent keeper has allowed the lad to stand on his toes, and not get someone to stand in-front or behind him.(Penicuik first goal). Again culpable for the 3rd goal, but he's partial to that sort of mistake. No disputing he's a very very good keeper but should possibly stick to that rather than trying to play with the ball.

    ...if Saughton is playable!

At tonight's game, I was told by a LTHV official that Saturday's game v Arniston will also be at Almondvale.

That's some amount of £££ its costing them.

Last night's game was closer than the scoreline suggests also, Easthouses 1up at half time. And conceded 2 penalties in the 4 goals.

As well as toilets is there a solid railing between the stands and the park? Last time I was there it was a rope IIRC.

They have done some work since it opened e.g. screening off the ground.

Returning to my point about there being more to it than the spectator facilities and lights - my impression is that HW's committee is more heavily student-led than Stirling or Edinburgh. At games it's normally students doing most of the jobs versus more "adults" at the others? Given most of them will only serve for a couple of years, it may affect continuity, and their capacity for the off-field stuff? Stirling have/had a course admin working for central institution.

Edinburgh also got heavy backing to rebuild their stadium, and Stirling must be paying a decent rent.

Edinburgh get 0 funding from Edinburgh Uni. Most of if not all their funds goto the hockey team.

With all that is going on in Junior football the now with quite a few teams from the West expressing desire's to join the pyramid in a potential WOSFL, surely that could well be the end for the Junior game?

What then for the future of the Ammie game?

With the Ammie game seemingly in decline also it must be time for the powers that be to look at ways of re energizing our game? The answers on how they do it won't be easy to find but the time is coming for change I feel.

One thing I would suggest would be for Leagues to merge together.

Central & Caley for example, say between them they got 60 teams split over 4 leagues,

14 team Super League, 14 team Premier League, and 1st/2nd divs made up of 16 teams each.

Surely this would be a very attractive scenario for all teams/players and it would give u balanced and competitive leagues.

I dont know the politics involved with committees etc and if something like this would even get considered as an idea but for me it would definetely be an exciting prospect.

Personally dont think the ammie game can go on in its current state and expect things to pick up, it has to make changes.

    Thoughts anyone?

WOS teams are not joining the pyramid, they've refused entry into 'tier 6' or so i am led to believe.

Wonder if this mean they'll have them up in time to keep their licence?

On that note, I see Oakley have aspirations for license too.

Alot of work to be done however, changing room at least the away one is TINY. The showers are shared not sure what else they need to meet criteria.

Don't think you need a licence for reserve games, only first team games?

As was pointed out by someone else as well, no toilets inside the ground and those are defo a licence requirement. I also don't remember (though could be wrong) disabled access to the steps to the pitch?

Uni are a good team, with a good manager in a good facility, would think they would have done it by now if it was a licenceable ground. Maybe something they have in their plans.

Theres a long way round as such to the right of the exit to hearts first team changing.

Bejay is now assisant/coach with Hearts ladies as well as still managing Watt and assistant at Scotland Uni team.

He was incidentally on 'trial' so to speak at hearts many years ago whilst topping the scoring charts for the uni too. His training is very good and he's involved alot up there doing pt etc too.

Thanks for the info.  I'm always a bit surprised that Heriot-Watt have never been mentioned.  I'd have thought they would have a chance with their facilities but perhaps they are missing out in other areas.

Might be something as daft as the changing rooms not being inside the confines of the ground?

Can't be, official reserve games take place there...
