  1. Of course he was, it's part of the job! Remember when Ian Scott told us Rob Lee just happened to turn up at Palmerston to watch his nephew train? I was actually contacted by the club a few years ago asking me not to name trialists in case it tipped off other clubs. As if his agent isn't telling anyone who'd listen! I do think things are improving (SD hasn't been dragged off here ) but there's still a bit of a culture of secrecy and I don't think they've fully embraced the information age yet?
  2. Thanks, knew someone on here would know! Given that we'd probably be looking at players in The Conference or lower, does it go that far?
  3. Listened to an interview with Davie Martindale on "sacked in the morning" on BBC Sounds. He says he does his recruitment using "Wise Count?" to look for players who look like they'd fit in and will then see what contacts he has to find out more. Given Marvin was his assistant I'm assuming he'll also be looking at this, although Martindale does say he's looking at English League 2 and non-league for his SPL budget so I'm not sure if it will go far enough down the pyramid to find players in our budget?
  4. That's me! I have never been able to bring myself to like him, mainly for this reason. I was very disappointed when we loaned him back from Livingston, I just felt that if I was an SPL manager I'd have been desperate to have a young forward play with Dobbie for half a season and I still think we wasted the chance of this on taking Dykes back.
  5. Fair enough. I remember Skyline saying there was a lack of midfielders but looking back he's added Joe Thomson to his side and I would go for him before Pybus. Didn't think he was too bad though!
  6. Also from reading that report, would Dan Pybus be a call for central midfield in a former players poll? See he's playing for York City in the Fifth Tier in England now.
  7. I remember in my match report on his first game saying that he was hooked at half time. It wasn't until a few days later I realised he hadn't been and had actually played the whole of the 2nd half without me noticing! In his defence, I think, unusually, we were shooting towards the Terregles Street end in the 2nd half and these days I struggle to even pick out players who have been with us for a while that far away! PS. Looked up my report, at least my memory is a lot better than my eyesight . http://www.mydumfries.com/QOSfan//report.php?Date=2022-01-29 15:00:00
  8. Queens were in the 3rd tier at the time, whatever they were calling it then. Rivals decided to stop supporting anything below the top 2 leagues in Scotland, so we were dropped. Our Message Board was actually one of the busiest Rivals Boards. Arbroath were in the league above us, but their board was hardly used, so some Queens fans decided to take it over! I got told off for it, even although I had nothing to do with it!
  9. How could you forget Steven Skinner ? He was my "Big Scoop" (along with Rob Lee ) when my site was part of The Rivals Network. The guy who ran the Stirling Albion site got in touch with me to tell me Queens were going to be signing him from Carlisle. I've no idea how a guy running a Stirling Albion website knew in advance that Queens were going to be signing a youth player from Carlisle!
  10. Dale Carrick's Dad is from Dumfries but Dale was actually born and raised in Edinburgh (or there abouts). He was a Queens fan as a boy though and I believe played a couple of games for the supporters club, although I think his Uncle Scott may have forced him into it!
  11. There have been a few clips come up on my YouTube channel of the 2018/2019 season recently, Wilson and Todd were superb. How the Hell did we nearly get relegated that season?
  12. I'd still take Todd (and Wilson) ahead of both of them though.
  13. Maybe Nicky Lowe? On the whole though, I don't think there's many of our past midfielders I'd rate above Josh Todd.
  14. We've also both forgot Issah Jones (I had anyway, I assume he'd be near your team?).
  15. Seeing Chris Kane at the end of your list reminded me that the other player we all agreed on was Jason Kerr. Thought he'd have been a Scotland international by now.
  16. It was mainly Kilday. Thought his best days were behind him when he left us. Was also thinking of Mikey Doyle but see I'm out of date on that one! Dom Thomas hasn't really gone on to be as good as I thought he was going to be.
  17. Funnily enough, we started to discuss what the best team would be of ex-Queens players still playing on Saturday. Didn't get very far though, Zander Clark, Nikki Clark and one who won't qualify for Skyline's list, Owen Moxon, where about as far as we got! We were wondering how Queens Park are doing so well with a few ex-Queens players that we didn't really rate!
  18. Just watching the Montrose highlights on YouTube. Brydon did push the player on the back, not clip his heels as I originally thought, and I do think the referee was going for his red card straight away, the only reason it was delayed was that Brydon was walking away from him.
  19. Who is the guy who keeps walking along the side of the pitch from the dugout towards the Portland Road end? Is he heading to the "hut" on that side of the terrace to check videos? I've only started to notice him at the last couple of games.
  20. I think the criticism of Brydon is a bit unfair. From my point of view, I thought the forward slowed to take the shot and Brydon ran into the back of him. Happens all the time in these situations. I do think the red card was justified but don't think Brydon could have done much about it (apart from not let the guy in behind him in the first place!).
  21. Was interested to hear Sandra say a couple of times in her post match Clyde interviews that we "perform better against the better teams'! 1-3, 1-3, 2-5 in the games against Falkirk so far this season tells a more realistic story. Maybe by 'better teams' she means 'Edinburgh'?
  22. I did wonder if it had something to do with this? I tend to dip in and out of Pie & Boveril but I heard a rumour that some players aren't even waiting until post match for a drink.
  23. Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know what a "hydration test" is?
  24. On Saturday, Kelty replaced their right-back with a centre-forward and beat us in the 2nd half. It seems to me on quite a few occasions this season we have been "out-managed" by more experienced managers noticing weaknesses in our team and changing things at half time. I'm sure Wullie would improve with experience but do we have the luxury to give him that time?
  25. Hope I'm not sounding 'anti-Gibson" here, I just don't think it's feasible to ask him to play every week AND manage the side. PS. I was ready for the Kenny Dalgliesh come-back on being a successful Player-manager but I'm glad no one has said Rowe/Eadie yet!
