  1. So East Region Clubs can resign from the EJRSFA and move to the EOSL quite freely.
Yet Gordon Ronney is threatening WJRSFA Clubs that want to move to the WoSFL that a clause will be invoked to provide one year's notice and won't let them go.
I believe Kilwinning Rangers have told him they will field a youth team next season.
What clause anyway? They have no control when they leave the Juniors.
  2. Just to add to this, two former Junior clubs played each other in a league game on Saturday. The gate was over 1,500, and the home club made a 5 figure sum from the game.

3 seasons ago, these two were playing in the East Superleague in front of 150.

And because you could argue more was at stake because it made a difference towards who went into a play-off to get into the actual league...

  3. Not sure that will be too popular.  Remember, the clubs overwhelmingly favour Premier-First-Second, just not next season. If they're faced with a change to three Conferences, then perhaps the mood would change.

Immaterial anyway until the numbers merit it.  2 x 18 teams Conferences perfectly feasible.

I have faith in them anyway. Could be another vote then. Still quite a few things all to come together though for it to happen. I still think it's win win for the EoS though, they either get the numbers for two conferences or get close to just a handful outside in the Juniors meaning less disruption for future seasons.

I do hesitate to use the phrase win win but hopefully people will realise what I mean in this circumstance.

  4. By my reckoning, we're getting close to having Conferences of 17/18 clubs next season.
If we assume that Lochore and Newburgh will apply, then we're at 16.
That means 4 more spots before it becomes difficult, and one of those spots may be claimed by Eyemouth coming back.
Tayport & Scone both eligible to apply, then we have the  "WL" clubs.
I would imagine the EoS could just dust off their plans of the season before last. It seemed to work well. Three conferences. Starting the season with extra games from early group phase for the league cup meaning also teams play teams from another conference in that. King cup for everyone again...

The EoS have demonstrated how good they are dealing with different numbers and the situation.

  6. Be interesting to see how it all plays out, I would rather a west region ran league than some LL league run mystery box [emoji2369]
Well, I think that is actually the thing but not that way round.

The LL would be completely open, no mystery, the SJFA have proved not to be.

The LL would after a season or two hand the running over to the clubs (if they wished) the SJFA would never.
  7. I am even confused now....!! Majority of Junior clubs will now wait for full West Region to be accepted into pyramid. Can this happen?  Lowland League and West Region need to have talks as totally head f**k now and get it sorted.

Clubs now won't apply to new West of Scotland League as will believe full West Region will join. Will they?

It's a complete shambles from all involved.

Sadly for Junior clubs there is only one organisation that is consistently a shambles, and that's the SJFA I'm afraid.

Ask a former Junior club that's now in the EoS if they think the EoS is a shambles.

Ask a former Junior club that's now in the LL if they think the LL is a shambles.

I think they'd laugh in your face.

  8. It's crazy that any Junior club making a decision about their future, something that will effect future generations, hasn't contacted the LL/EoS, through the channels quoted, to at least get information about their WoS proposals. Plus, also the views of at least one former Junior club that joined the EoS...

    Crazy...

  9. He is English though and will therefore move for about 75 million in the summer
Christ, if he moved, I'd accept a lot, lot less.

But I know what you mean.

When he was first coming through he had a lot of potential. In terms of playing ability he hasn't made the progress you'd hope. It doesn't say a lot for the media, English players, England and Gareth Southgate that he now plays for England.

  10. Starting to think Ben Chilwell might be a bit rubbish.
Believe me he is. Watch him every week. He might bomb forward but his final ball is rubbish. A rare exception last night he put one good cross in. However, earlier he tried bring a player down then gave the ball away about 30 seconds later, but for a good save Leicester would have been one down earlier as a result of his error. Fuchs is a much better left back.
  11. You need to deal with the Pyramid with a degree of practicality, strong leagues at the top end, weaker leagues further down. Having a very weak league which barely anyone in the wider game has heard of, and doesn't even have Scottish Cup access for it's champion club, feeding into a tier 5 league just because of geography isn't really a solution.
Plus, we don't actually have any information at all over what is going on, nor whether the NRJFA would or would not accept the NCL as a feeder. All we're doing is hypothesising. In the same regard, I'm sure the HL don't fancy Orkney or Thurso as members either, they're a very "traditional" organisation and having them in the tier below with a direct chance of promotion would probably give them palpitations
Let's see what happens, something is better than nothing. Personally I think a HL2 would help smooth things out and bring Tayside on board, whilst keeping NCL at a more realistic level.
    The Tayside question remains unanswered.

If you go with tier 6 without the NCL though where do the likely first relegated club, Fort William, go though, if they do get relegated? Do they skip a tier? Go to HL2 and then make HL2 a region wide HL2 anyway?

I would have thought a play-off involving the NCL which admittedly they would rarely win, would be better? Not ideal I know...
  12. A suitable longer term option might be Premiership in at R4, Championship at R3, League 1/2 at R2.
This would allow for 80 teams to enter R1 which would amply cover, HL, LL and current licensed teams (63 in total). Even after an influx of WOS teams getting licensed you wouldn’t need a huge preliminary round.

That proposal may be a bit too far to move straight into this year so I’d expect something more like what Marten suggests.
And you'd hope the highest placed (from the previous season) x number of HL & LL league teams got a bye into round 2. With only a draw for a bye if there was an odd number (as in if the last bye was given to the HL or LL club).
  13. Are there enough clubs that would want to go in a league that covers the full Highland league area though? Wouldn't those leagues feeding directly into HL1 be better? With them at tier six?

Sure it's an option but is it a more attractive option for enough for a HL2? If you wanted those leagues under the umbrella of the Highland League would a HL North West and a HL South East be better? Of course the East Juniors North of the Tay are a potential problem but you could have NL North West, HL East and HL South feeding in HL1?

Anyway, I know others, including most probably yourself have thought of/suggested this.
