McIver's a striker, no one sets a squad and says 'don't worry about defence, we have a striker who can cover'.

Also , as mucb ad Mackie had been brilliant in the last few games he has a faulty 'kill switch' and can be really unpredictable in key moments.

Everything has to be considered in the terms of the Championship being a real step up and we can't cobble players into positions tor nor have quality cover for the standard of  the league you're in

Agree with this, no way McGlynn thinks we've got enough cover.

We conceded 28 goals all season, 7 of them in the last 3 games when we didn't have any proper centre backs.

My opinion on Yogi's tenure has slightly mellowed over the years but this is bollocks.

He took a squad that had finished 7th and jettisoned a team of young, hungry players in favour of one last big pay day for his mates - McNamara and McCann etc. - who were past it and no better than what we had.

We had the easiest possible run to a cup final which papered over his cracks, and stayed up at the last game of the season thanks to a lucky deflection from Michael Higdon's arse.

He walked because he knew he'd fucked us up.

Aye we were shite in that last season but there were plenty of players in that team that could have been retained and he's not totally to blame for the singing on the grey brigade, the board could have simply told him no.

We were shite under pressley at the end of the premier League season but let's be honest that team was hopeless and the damage had been done before the season started. He probably shouldn't have gotten the job but he certainly did better than a few of the jobbers that followed him, he at least kept us in the championship. 😆

I'm going out on a limb. I liked Pressley, he had a raw deal with the budget being smashed and the mess the club was in after Yogi took us down. I'm ignoring that Disco pants was between Yogi and Pressley as Eddie clearly did not want the role and we lost a great coach in the process. Also consider that Pressley had no management experience and did he really do such a bad job? (Limb about to be sawn in half I fear)

and to be clear, Paul Sheerin was way worse than Pressley  bit in terms of THE WORST and considering his experience it had got to be the pigeon man John Lambie. He'd make PSG look like the Shire in 2 weeks

Don't think it's fair to blame the relegation on Yogi, it's not his fault that no one at the club managed anything in the months after he left and then gave the job to May, who might not have wanted the job but he still took it and was terrible at it.

Pressleys biggest mistake was being arrogant when he got the job in press conferences declaring we would definitely stay up, but we did also win the challenge cup with him as manager and did ok in the championship considering the budget so he's better than every manager that followed him based on that alone until you get to McGlynn, with the exception of the best years under Huston which were generally enjoyable.

3 from the Pancakes and that includes the additional monies. That and the 3 squares of the pitch and the FFS subscription and the heritage tops, training tops,  home and away strips, scarves, hats  etc and it's been a bloody expensive year to be a Bairn 🤣🤣🤣

Will be interesting to see how many have opted to pay the extra and if there is an uptake in FSS contributions either in numbers or increases as well.

I'm sure the club/FSS will put all the numbers out in due course.

  5. I can understand why folk would have stopped going a few years ago. It certainly wasn't fun going to the football and some of the shite on display actually made me start to believe I could have been a player in spite of my total lack of talent.

Hopefully this season has won a few back, I've just renewed my season ticket this morning and hopefully there will be many more new ones as well as renewals to go with it.

I've just watched them and tbh my first thought on your third is that whoever it was at the back post (I thought Morrison, but I assume you know your players better than me) absolutely tried to head it and was lucky he missed it because he's 100% offside as he's wrong side of the keeper. I wouldn't have ruled it out for him "trying to head it" because he doesn't and he probably doesn't interfere in any way with the goal in doing so.

The two penalties are pretty much stonewall for me. Not sure why so many Falkirk fans are moaning about them.

Think it is miller and he does look offside so it's just as well he doesn't get anywhere near it.

Both are pens as well in my opinion a push from bisland and Finn diving in. He gave away a free kick very similar against kelty last week on the edge of the box so hopefully doing a bit of training this week on when to stay on his feet.

Honestly, we’re far better than Annan. I don’t think we should be worrying too much.

Is anyone passing Midlothian to the way? im looking for a lift: obviously I’ll pay petrol but my doctor won’t allow me to drive.

    Can't officer Lewis drive you?

  8. I don't think we should be chasing off supporters of other clubs.

I've got a group of mates (a hibee, an Ayr and a Celtic supporter) and we regularly go to random games around the country to visit smaller clubs we haven't been too or to a game we fancy for a day out and I wouldn't expect us to get chased out of somewhere just because we weren't local diehards.

If the way we play starts attracting day trippers all we should be doing is getting them to spend as much as possible.

See this is where I disagree completely.. You are asking players to make decisions you are making having watched the replay a couple of times in  what is a split second.  Players can't think hang on a minute now if I win the ball there and bavidge straightens up his run a bit theres a chance I might clatter into him and get sent off so wait I better not try and get the ball there.   By the time that happens bavidge is away he's scored and it's one each.  In the same way bavidge didn't have time to stop and think wait a minute if I change my run slightly and keep going at this pace there's a chance that boy might in clearing the ball give me a dull one so I better stop now and not go any further

If you want to get rid of these sort of situations then you would need to make the game completely non contact which would be a terrible shame.

It's like when you are driving a car carefully along a road and you make a split second decision to change lane . Someone's in your blind spot and you hit them. You don't get a jail term for that because it's a complete accident .Even if the boy in the other car picks up an injury you still don't end up with 6 months in barlinnie. If however, you are driving at 100 mph in a 40 and crash into someone then there is a fairly good chance that the police will be charging you.

Playing football  back then used common sense. In a very physical and fast game accidents happen and people are going to get hurt . There doesn't have to be someone to blame all the time though. Players understood that back then got up, shook the other boys hand and got on with it.

I'm a qualified referee so I don't blame the ref for sending him off I just don't agree with laws that send players off for complete accidents.

Unfortunately the modern day laws have bypassed common sense altogether and what used to be a simple straightforward game is now an over complicated mess.

That's just me though I just preferred the days when players weren't waving imaginary cards about and wanting players sent off every 5 mins. Players used to be just get on with it unless someone was deliberately trying to do them . Imagine that had been big craw Coll had collided with . He'd have just got back up and wondered what all the fuss was about.

I suppose we will just need to agree to disagree because we aren't going to get common ground here, I didn't need replays to know he'd made a mistake and I don't think the players or most of the crowd did either.

Even in your driving analogy you've not described an unavoidable accident, you've described one caused by a poor decision for which you are at fault which you would be punished for, not likely with a jail sentence but with your insurance picking up the costs of all the repairs if no one's hurt.

Even if it's an accident if you killed someone then you might go to jail for recklessness given you changed lanes without checking your blind spot, which is negligence, not an accident and you're responsible for that.

Yeah unfortunately that's the problem with the modern day game. Rugbys gone the same way. Red cards should be for deliberate serious foul play and not accidental collisions. These things happen and players get injured in a fast  physical contact sport unfortunately. Was better when we understood that instead of trying to wrap players up in cotton wool.

Wouldn't say it's a problem with the modern game, more like the way you played football went out with the ark.

There is no way for Coll to win that ball without endangering or injuring his opponent so it's a challenge he shouldn't make.

Yep these last two games will be tough.

Annans form is unbelievable given their position in the league (third over 10 games in league behind Hamilton and ourselves), they're playing for their lives and at home. They drew at ours too so that will give them belief.

Alloas form is also good, watching them on alba just now and they look very good. Hopefully it'll be a dead rubber for them and they'll be taking it easy for the play offs.

The annan game could be the tougher if the two especially with coll suspended. Hopefully Henderson and Mackie make it through the week and the game, not sure who the back up is without Lang and Donaldson if either of the other two get injured.

We're so close to a once in a lifetime achievement.

Think we will be without coll for both games and the start of next season as that will be down as a violent conduct red card.

If alloa win tonight Annan still be our toughest game with them looking forward to the playoffs.

  12. Excellent to get a result in the circumstances today.

Rode our luck a bit with them hitting the wood work but the players have been so good all season they deserve a bit of luck when they need it.

Tough 2 games ahead with a makeshift centre back pairing of Mackie and Henderson ahead but we are one step closer.
