  1. The Establishment/Owen Jones - read this previously.

Cracking book. Really highlights what a shambles everything is.

    Selected low-lights -

Boarding school buddies doing deals in boardrooms for juicy well paid jobs once their political careers are finished.

Private companies using public money to further their own interests.

Red or Dead by David Peace.

Stunning novel about Bill Shankly and his obsession with all levels of football.

Bit of socialism chucked in too.

I enjoyed that. Although i can see why some people are put off by the writing style employed within the first half of the book.

The Daily Record replies to The Times.

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newspaper-asks-whats-the-point-9957361

The articles ends with "Rangers' Barrie McKay is starting to recapture the form which earned him plaudits last season."  Is he?

There's also Scotlands young talent coming through - "from Rangers starlet Billy Gilmour to Celtic teen Karamoko Dembele , European football's big guns are sniffing around our highly-rated youngsters." Is there no other youngsters at any other clubs? They mention Keiran Tierney, Moussa Dembele etc. Not one non Old Firm player is mentioned until the last few lines which mention Johnny Hayes and Jamie Walker.

That article is almost as bad as the one in The Times. Boak.

  4. Tender is the night -  F. Scott Fitzgerald

Went into it with an open mind expecting an enjoyable insightful read.

Didn't enjoy it at all - couldn't emphasis with the characters and found it all a bit dull to be honest.

Maybe i'm just a philistine and it is a great American novel but not for me Geoff.

Was just trying to find a pic I'd posted on here of my old Umbro Pars tracksuit from the late 80s but the search brought this up instead.. from a Pars v Stranraer match thread. Seaside league does strange things to people.

Brilliant. I feel we are spoilt nowadays with all the different football from all over the world we can easily watch now.

But as a nine year old in 1994 it was a genuine thrill to get some more football on tv never mind that it was foreign football.

Ronaldo, Weah, Maldini, Del Piero, Vieri, Baggio, Lee Sharpe - it was a genuine thrill to watch the players play.

  7. In summary -

Maddison was in better form then McGinn at cup final.

Young players not good for the first team. Too soft. Blames development league.

Craig Storie not pushed on in training. Not been good enough in development league.

Miles Storey struggling with pressure of playing for a bigger team, but thinks there is a player in there.

Agreed we didn't turn up in cup final. Were not aggressive enough.

New stadium could be worth 150k more per home match, this would be key for investing in the team.

Thinks Shinnie is a better cm than full back.
