  1. Surely when the scout has identified / Hartley has signed these players, they will have been aware of the difference in physicality between previous level and the Scottish championship - therefore they will have considered not only the players physicality and ball skills, but also their temperament and ability to adapt to a new style and level of physicality?  Adapting straight away is too much to ask, but I doubt these players have been signed without considerations of the requirements and the fact they were still signed, shows Hartley/Scout believes they have what is required to make the transition successful.

    Few signings beside him imo.

I heard from a reliable source he's gonna bring Harris along just to sack him in front of the punters and a statue will be erected in front of the main stand, of the Don punting Harris in recognition of this memorable moment ..... or maybe that's enough red bull for one day....

On showings so far would also say Jak’s finishing is better. His movement can be odd at times though.

This is something that can only be worked on by coaching - being a contracted player of a settled team rather than being farmed out on loan constantly could only improve this!

I am guessing you mean you “would” take Yak and Nelson...

I assumed he meant he wouldn't take Jak AND Nelson - so one or the other - with a more experienced player beside them and I'd tend to agree- out of the two I'd prefer the Jak as although he's still very raw, he seems more direct and determined and may be easier to get (as comments on here suggest he's out of contract in the summer?).  If his wages aren't ridiculous, I'd definitely offer him a 2 year PCA as I think we've seen enough to believe he's worth the risk

  5. I see Bain is heading to Hibs, does this mean Ross Laidlaw may be available?

Jakubiak has scored 6 goals in 53 games whilst on loan  to lower league English teams, which doesn't fill me with confidence- however, if he was here training and Hartley still signed him then he must have seen something he liked or something that we need, so will wait to see him before judging.

If ever I needed more evidence that you are an alias, giving any credence to anything printed in the Daily Record will do it. But you seem to have given credence to Daily Record readers. Surely a new low....

I can assure you I'm not an alias - I'm a long term reader and only recently started posting- If I knew that trying to post an opinion would lead to automatic pessimism I wouldn't have bothered!  I'm certainly not trying to give credence to the narrow minded opinions of typical record readers, however, there is a large majority of football fans who agree with the sentiments that this rag reports and I was only attempting to highlight how this could have a long term adverse impact on our club.

  7. I see that a poll on today's daily record article has over 80% of fans (over 3000 votes, so can't all be Dunfermline!) think Falkirk should be punished for this - the public opinion may make it easier for the SFA / SPFL to set a new precedent by hammering us for the actions of a few arsehole 'fans'- is also worry that our new found reputation may tarnish the club for some time ...

Falkirk have apologised wholeheartedly and unreservedly to Dean Shiels.

Have Dunfermline apologised to Myles Hippolyte?

Why would they? It's not like Hippo was being mocked for something which has clearly impacted his quality of life, Hippo is only a black football player, he clearly doesn't have an ailment which has stopped him becoming a successful player ....

I'm not trying to say one is worse than the other - however, the way I see things are both players were singled out for having a trait which is out with the "normal" - singling either out is never acceptable, it's basically just a form of bullying- and that is never acceptable - the thing that bothers me is how much more publicity the shields incident is getting (his twat of a father constantly jumping in only adds to this) when in my opinion it's just as bad as racial abuse or constant abuse which is sidhed out every week in football.  Yeah, these wee wankers were wrong for their actions, but does it really justify this level of negativity and abuse? as long as I've supported Falkirk, I've never known us to have a reputation as such a vile club, do we really deserve it now?

  9. I wonder if all this negative publicity is likely to have an effect on our signing targets?  Anytime I've changed jobs, I've always done a wee bit of research into the new place, and I'm sure footballers are the same, so is it possible that some may be put  off joining us because of the actions of these few morons?

As well as this, the recent publicity cant be good for any future sponsorhip or commercial deals which can only have an adverse affect on our finances?

One game does not make a season, but were you there on Saturday? Vastly improved performance over the utter drivel served up so far this season. Longridge and Tumility I felt were among the best players on the park. Both Hartley signings.

unfortunately I had to work and only caught the second half on FTV- all reports read indicate we looked substantially better, however it was against a team of mediocre journeymen and as youve indicated, one game doesn't change the story - This is the first time I've heard people be positive about the Hartley signings and I sincerely hope it wasn't just a flash in the pan!

Happy New Year all! Here is a New Year's Day quick read for you in the shape of a short mid-term report card (Link).

Enjoyable and accurate read- thank you for this!

my main worry at the moment is how quickly Nicholls jumped ship - he's been offered a short term position under a rookie manager in a club that thinks theyre bigger than the mess they actually are - but that position still seems better to him than continuing to work alongside Hartley!

I sincerely hope I'm wrong but Hartleys signing record with Dundee causes me a great deal of pessimism - we need him to get things right first time here, and I just haven't seen enough so far to trust that he's the man to change things.

with the academy being disbanded and all the rumours of boardroom turmoil mixed with poor performances, it's definitely a poor time to be a Falkirk fan - however I hope my pessimism is misplaced and humping the great unwashed tomorrow will set us on the right path!
