  1. First time visit to Easthouses tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the ground and hopefully a return to winning form for Musselburgh.
  2. Deliberate cookieboy after the weekend ‘debates’! However, no denying Burgh have been beaten fair and square by a good Penicuik team in both matches. My outlook no matter who we play is that we go out to win and will be of same mind when we return to Penicuik - the only away match we have still to be announced! All best for the rest of the season!
  3. Cheers Pete I did a full match report of all the Musselburgh games last season. However, I spent so much time jotting down notes, that my enjoyment of the matches ceased. I didn't think I was going to be able to attend all matches this season - missed 3 out of first 4, so because of the two issues, I stopped doing a report. However, hopefully all being well, I will just jot down some notes and give a summary of each match I attend. It helped with Penicuik providing a 'video' of all their goals - saved me from re-living the bad points of the match!!
  4. Got an answer to everything Big Yin! Could have been at a 4th match if yead been at Pinkie on Friday night watching the Burgh Under20s.
  5. Al no tell any1 brycey, but if you want to edit your message before anyone comes back oan to this page!? The yard aren’t even in oor league! You are in Tarnent’s league!!
  6. Yip! We play Hill of Beath next Saturday in another away tie and it will be interesting to see how Hill of Beath play. At the start of the season, thought Penicuik were favourites for the title, with HoB in the mix. Think these two plus Nitten and ourselves will finish in top 5 with ???? Cant see Nitten winning league. Though they are unbeaten, they have drawn twice so far, where as Penicuik and HoB have won all matches. Early days though...
  7. Two weeks ago, Musselburgh went to Penicuik to play in the 2nd round of the Football Nation cup. Half/full time result was 4-0. Was hoping that yesterday’s match was a much closer affair. There were four changes to the Musselburgh line out this time around. At the start of the match there was a small presentation with Kennie Scott congratulating Mathu King who played his 300th match for the Burgh, which occurred away to Hawick Roal Albert on Tuesday night. In 10 minutes Penicuik went 1-0 up. Gary Hamilton played a great ball forward from his defensive position; collected by Kateleza, who played the ball past the outcoming keeper. All Penicuik goals are included within this P&B thread and twitter, so check out for visual proof of each one that went in. Goals in 16 and 34 minutes then put Penicuik 3-0 ahead. On 38 minutes, Musselburgh had a chance to get a goal back. From a corner on the right hand side, a shot was blocked by the Penicuik defence, then Mathu King went for a diving header two yards out, but a defender just got to the ball first, clearing the danger. Four minutes later, from a Burgh goal kick, a good move up the right wing, saw Matty Lynch cross a ball into the goal area. This was met by Nathan Evans, whose header came off the bar. In last minute of half, Penicuik scored the fourth goal (same as score two weeks ago). Musselburgh came out in the second half, and played better than the first, but by then it was too late. On 46 minutes Michael Deland had good run up left wing, crossed ball, but Mathu’s shot was well saved by Penicuik’s keeper. In 77minutes, Penicuik scored their 5th goal (again - please see above posts to view goal). With around 9 minutes to go, another chance for Burgh to score, from a corner. However, Bonzo’s header went wide of the target. Final score was 5-0. A bad day at the office by Musselburgh, but at same time, completely outplayed by a good Penicuik side. They are going to take a bit of stopping, if another team has thoughts of winning the league title.
  8. My pal brycey came on to the Musselburgh page to have a bit of a dig/banter with supporters/me re yesterday’s result. All good fun and I responded back. No doubt brycey and I will do this again a few times before the end of season, as we did last season as well! As you appear to have a difficulty somewhere along the way, I said I was disappointed in the results we’ve just had in the results and performances with Penicuik. I don’t know what is wrong with that? If you want me to start a Penicuik appreciation page on this forum, please let me know and I will help you out.
  9. Get off your high horse cookieboy! If that was directed at me, where did I say that Musselburgh had a bad day at the office! Last season, we won the Premier league. Same time Penicuik finished 2nd in the Super League, so your team were always going to be favourites to win this match and indeed our league this season. Doesn’t mean though that Penicuik will win, or indeed deserve to win every league match this season. Musselburgh will go into each match, looking to win, but as said, our aim will be a top five finish come season end. Also a bit of a pr1ckish comment re the admission money! Musselburgh players didn’t give our fans our admission money back. There were certainly more than 16 Burgh supporters up at Penicuik. Donation was way of saying sorry for the way they played as they admit it wasn’t as good as it should have been. Something to be applauded, not to be mocked. The supporters club will make good use of the donation, but not for payment into any match! Have a good day now; just saying.
  10. You, my man are a happy wee Stirrer! Come on here late at night wie your wee snippets and then just wait.... Bubble hasn’t burst. Ten wins and three losses this season, two of which are against Penicuik. Certainly disappointed with results and performances against the Cookie, but target is to finish in top 5, and I think we will get that! My man of match was Jackie Myles. For Cookie, I would go with Gary Hamilton. Always god to ‘talk’ to the brycey man - keep them coming!
  11. You are correct Pete. Mathu took a bit of a sabbatical from Musselburgh, and had a 'wee rest' by playing up at Newtongrange - for two seasons I think? However, his heart was in the Burgh! Normally, it can be the case where it can be a mistake coming back to an old team! Not in Mathu's case as he just never lets us down, and continues to score at a great rate, and is a great player for the newbies to look up to!
  12. Tuesday night and a 'wee' drive down the Borders to Hawick. Once there, after a few wrong turns, asking a couple of locals, i was told I was on the wrong side of the town. Then a policeman gave me final directions and I arrived with 15 minutes to space (now glad that the kick off time had been put back to 7:45pm. A mug of coffee and a sausage roll - my tea! - was gratefully received on a cold night for watching the football! Firs few minutes started off on level pegging for both teams. However, Musselburgh got the breakthrough in around 12 minutes, due to a defensive mistake by the home side. A defender on the wing, (maybe no.4), passed the ball back to the goalie, Honestly don't know what happened but the ball went passed keeper and into the penalty area. Mathu King and a defender were at equal distance from the ball, but Mathu got there first and the ball hit the net for a 1-0 lead to Burgh. The 2nd goal came 12 minutes later, the best one of the night. Mathu had the ball and had a chance to shoot, in the box, but lost his position. Ball was then played to David Maskrey, who ran across the box, easily going past three defenders. He slowed down, made a change of direction and his shot hit the net for a two nil lead. During the first half, there were lots of 50-50 balls, but it seemed as if Musselburgh got to most of them first. Half time ended 2-0 to Musselburgh. Listening to supporters at half time, it appears as if Hawick should have won a 'stonewall' penalty, which I missed, but no reward given by the ref. Towards the middle of the 2nd half, Musselburgh scored a further two goals. The first was from a corner, on the left hand side of the pitch. Michael Deland rose to header the ball into the net. Mathu King got his 2nd and Burgh's 4th goal five minutes later, scoring from close range. All three Burgh subs were used, and there was a debut from Liam Reid, a player from the under 20s. he came on for the last 20 or so minutes and didn't put a foot wrong. Liam is a great header-er of the ball, and no reason why he will not be given another chance in the main Burgh team. So, it ended with Musselburgh beating Hawick 4-0. My player of match would have been Michael Deland, who defended well, made a number of runs up the left win, and of course scored a goal. But, the supporters club's man of match was David Maskrey. Did a power of running throughout the match, particularly in the first half and scored a terrific goal. All best to Hawick for the rest of the season. On Saturday sees Burgh at home to current league leaders Penicuik. A couple of weeks ago, Penicuik beat Musselburgh 4-0 in a cup tie, so hopefully the Burgh will provide tougher competition this weekend! MTB!
  13. Stonker is a great word Rob! Very true description as well! Nathan and Mathu teamed up brilliantly for the opening goal.
  14. Penicuik are definitely the team to be aware of in this division! Musselburgh’s main aim will be to finish in the top 5 - the higher the better for me. We've played 11 matches so far this season winning 9 of these. Both defeats have come in cup matches, beaten by better teams on the day - Dalkeith and Penicuik. Tomorrow we are away again (9th time out of 12!) to Hawick Royal Albert, going for four league victories in a row. Saturday, we are back at Olivebank where we meet Penicuik again. Hopefully the boys will give the Cookie a better match this time around. MTB!
  15. It was a bad day at the office Rob, but we move on! Remember that Penicuik are a good team, finishing 2nd in the Super League last season, so were favourites for this match! The Burgh had two clear chances to open the scoring, then for the next 20 minutes, assisted in the first two goals that Penicuik scored, and were outplayed during this period. With the score at that point being 3-0, the match was lost. Coming out after half time 4-0 down, at least we tightened play up. I watched Johnny Harvey’s interview after match, and he is right in saying that it is hard to match scoring in the 2nd half after scoring freely in the first half. However, it wasn’t just that Penicuik downed their rate of play, but equally Musselburgh played a lot better. We also had four players out, who if fit, may well have started match. But, ifs are really a waste after a match finishes. In truth, Musselburgh’s main aim this season should be to finish in the top five this season, and reap the benefits thereafter. If we make top five and I think we will, next aim will be to finish as near to top place as we can. Still got lots to look forward too, starting with our third league match of season, on Saturday, away to Oakley. MTB!
  16. Technically everyone would see it guinness! But, I take your point it would only be the Musselburgh dummy that would be shown and not the oppositions! . However, I am sure that the Musselburgh management team would take note of this, work on it at training and ensure that improvements were made for the next match!
  17. Fair enough! Hopefully if you are a supporter your team are one of the few who does film matches, therefore does make it public for you to see it all! Nobody has spat the dummy out, and if you are a supporter and have watched previous Musselburgh videos you would know that! As said before, Musselburgh only show the goals it shows.
  18. Thanks for that Rob! Thought it was a league game - so many cup ties at the moment!
  19. Good win on Saturday in the cup tie at Gala Fairydeanrovers. Outplayed them in the first half and Burgh would be disappointed that only one goal was scored by Nathan, following a good ball through by Liam. Gala pegged us back a lot of the 2nd half. Yet, we still had the best two attempts on goal, both of which resulted in saves from the Gala keeper. Tough match coming up when we will play the title favourites, Penicuik, away in the league. Always confident that Burgh can get a result each time we play so roll on Saturday
  20. I am not the camera man so my comments are my own thoughts and not that of the team. As I have said before, good on the teams that show more than Musselburgh do. Maybe they have more time that our guy, but again, maybe our guy does other football/ committee work that others don’t so he uses the time available to him as he sees fit. I said on another media point, that the main purpose of videoing the match is so that it can be viewed by the management team and used as they see fit. I don’t think a lot of East of Scotland teams show goals/ highlights, but I stand to be corrected. As an a side issue, last year, I wrote a report on P&B on all the Musselburgh matches. However, this took a wee while to compile each week, and also spoilt my enjoyment of watching my team, as I spent too much time jotting down notes during the match. So, reluctantly I stopped doing the reports. Cause of this, I appreciate whatever my committee and other fans do for my team, whatever they do!
  21. Are you and Jaggywaggy related? To the best of my knowledge and memory Musselburgh do not show highlights of matches as such. What Musselburgh do show is the build up and goals that their team scores, They do not show the opponents goals. Following the match last week which Musselburgh beat Dunbar - the three goals that Musselburgh scored were shown at night - not the Dunbar goal. Don't think anyone at Dunbar commented on this. Jaggywaggy was right when he intimated that there were no goals shown following the 5-1 defeat at Dalkeith. If Musselburgh had put anything out that night it would only have been the one goal from Musselburgh. Jaggywaggy still wouldn't have seen the Dalkeith goals. So I don't see what the issue is here?! Want to see your own team's goals - hopefully one of the committee/fans will volunteer their services. For teams such as Penicuik and Bonnyrigg to actually show highlights - that is a great service they provide! Not all teams do so.
  22. Ha ha a kent yeah coodnae kept up that gid spellin fur two lang beefore yer seekrit came out! Noo am tellin yeah, if yeah murnae gonna sipport the Hoose nae longir, then as ma freend fae pumphae says, yeah shoed be supportin yon Belters fae close tae where yeah bide, none ae yon nonsince oh supporting a shipyeard - dae yeah ken whit a meen brycey! Betir still, sipport ae gid team lick the Burgh!
  23. Great post G4! When Musselburgh got relegated a couple of seasons ago, no one (or very few) expected that to happen. However, the players stayed with the club, and you are correct that the management team encourages players to play football that supporters enjoy to watch. Might have been an easier league to play in, but to keep a high standard all the way through, and break a number of records last season, was a great comeback, and gave fans / and players great satisfaction. There will be a number of tough matches to play in the league this season, but I am, and have been very optimistic that we will be in the top five come end of season, and no reason why Musselburgh shouldn't be challenging for top position!
  24. Took a wee sabbatical from P&B, so thought I would pop back in and see whats happening! Now I am confused as hell! brycey - have you been on the sauce?!?! Why are you spending time answering yourself? Also, thought once a supporter of a team, you would always support them. So why the change from The Hoose to Buntisland? And why getting angry at a Fifer when you are now supporting a Fife team? Is it me that is losing his marbles or the person from a town near to where the Belters play that is losing his?
