I thought the big French defender looked decent against Stirling wouldn't mind having a look at him
I liked the look of him and the other french guy but jim doesnt think they are at the level required so that can only be a good thing.0 -
No Trialists , putting out a solid first team to start..thinking of going to a back 3..
jim was looking to get someone on loan if i remember right .
Kris renton will still be missing but other than that how he will set out the team for most of it he said.
Yeah thats what he said.
Wouldnt mind seeing a scott mckenna return if available.0 -
Jim emphasised the need for another defender for backup.and is aware and working on the need to tighten up at the back.
quite optomistic after this session ! has alleviated some small fears i had at least.
Couldnt agree more, also said he had no intrest in any of the trailists playing the other night, only there to make up the numbers.
Spoke well in my opinion.0 -
Challenge Cup game against our 20s is confirmed for 7.30pm at Dens on Wednesday 18th August.
16th instead of the 18th confirmed on our official site.0 -

Looking at going to the goodwin q&a tomorrow, does anyone have anymore information?

We should be easily matching you lot.
Should have but didnt.0 -
From what was on show tonight anyway, you see more of him than i do. That answers my question then, another year of him you'll have to watch unless hes released.

Quite what he did "decent" I'm not so sure but if that's your opinion then fair doos.
You have seen more of him than i have, is he signed or what?
Has had alot of clubs which speaks volumes for a young guy.0 -
I didn't realise he'd even come on. Was he one of the ones without a number?
Edit: on his shirt, obviously!
Yes, no number on his back but had one on the shorts.
No renton, robertson or parry either so wont be far away.0 -
Aye, a reasonable start tonight, and poignant that McDonald and Hoggan got the goals, considering the youngsters will have to play a part this year. Of the trialists, I hope #16 Hopkins and the big bald laddie get another shot, although I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Jim has to tell the latter to keep his elbows in with a straight face
Anyone know any more about them?
I was more a fan of #23 than either of the 2 mentioned.0 -
Cheers for sharing the feed. Another totally inept performance by Blair Henderson, can't believe we are having to put up with this imposter for another season [emoji35][emoji35].
Other than that, Binnie, McCue, Kavanagh and Caddis played well but in truth we didn't really create much and sloppy defending cost us.....sound familiar??
Didn't see anything in the trialists to suggest any of them deserve a deal and I'm hoping our 2 new players can be found before the closed door game on Saturday.
I thought blair henderson done decent, one of your better players, just didnt feel he got the service.0 -
Couldn't go to the game, how did we play?

Good stuff from the young boys, stirling offered very little but st mirren will be a different threat.

looks very much like Swankie is arbroath bound, not too worried about the squad personally, On another note , does Jim goodwin realise tomorrows game is not!! a friendly, no F***** about get the job done jim.. see you there , invested in a season ticket for the first time ever as i am now self employed, and can attend most games .
As soon as i heard he was refusing to train i knew he'd be going there, nah we're not too far away from where we need to be.
Spot on, matters not a jot but still want to win.0 -
Ours will probably be another custom design whereas Arbroath and Forfar will be picked out of the brochure. Although tbh we should still be announcing our new strips a lot sooner than we do.
It would make more sense to have them available to buy when the season tickets are put on sale.
Talking of Forfar I see that Swankie is refusing to train and wants a transfer. Is he worth a punt or past it?
Definitely would make more sence, youd think more would bw sold that way.
Dont think swankie is passed it, think he'll sign for arbroath though, will have something lined up.0 -
I guess it must look as weird to me as this does to you
Aye, Gaz doesn't really look like a footballer (if that makes sense), but he's darned good at doing it when he's in full flow - serious cult hero potential for you lot I'd imagine!
Yeah that does look weird, just glad it didnt work out for him. Yeah looking forward to watching him.0 -
I suppose Alloa will have a good connection with Celtic over the past few years with a few players coming in on loan. It makes sense for them to play senior & us to play the best of the U20s for the Irn-Bru cup too.
Sounds a cracking game & a few boys missing (Parry, Robertson & Malcolm) that if they were in could've given us that extra edge, not that the result really matter. Martin the stand out again apparently, big things coming this season for him I think!
Noticed parry was missing, couldnt think who else was, maybe have other arrangements made so wouldnt read too much into it.0 -
I wonder if jim secured a loan signing while there ? [emoji6]
Unsure, intresting that we were asked to play against them.0 -
There's something seriously weird about seeing Garry in an Wasps kit.
Looks better IMO [emoji23], always admired him..looks like he carries a bit of extra weight but has always impressed me.0 -
Intresting to see who the 2 trialists that were playing today...http://www.alloaathletic.co.uk/BlogView.aspx?pageid=2&ItemID=1652&mid=2

Think we had offered him a chance to do pre season with us but he had already agreed to sign for Montrose.
Would've been a good signing at this level.
Yeah i think he would, plenty of championship experience, hes left montrose now because of the traveling.

No disrespect to dillon but i dont think he was good enough for dundee united anymore, dodged a bullet with that one as others have said, speaks volumes that hes signed for montrose.
Said it before i'll say it again, i would take dean brett.0 -
Delighted andy is captain, i always thought he would have been last season when brought in.

Very entertaining game for a goalless pre season match i thought.
Mcd was the stand out for me he made some fantastic saves, also malcolm never stopped hassling there defenders.
Looking forward to seeing renton now because i feel he will give us something different.
Back 4 absolutely solid but i felt we were very exposed on the counter last season.
Jack didnt seem very happy on the touch line.
