Tbh the first two points I made hold most weight.

Outwith this bad period we were in the top six most seasons going back to around the McCall era. We had some strong seasons in the late 90s and we qualified for Europe on 14 consecutive seasons from the late 70’s to the early 90s. Pretty consistent I would say.

Personally I would say it’s down to history (achievements), size of support (Season ticket sales) and consistently strong league positions.
